@@sam-and-angela seriously guys, we've learned so much about Mobil home construction from you guys!!!! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience. 🙏❤️
Since I live in the Northeast I'll be doing my pad with PVC columns that will sit in the base. The unit will bolt to the columns. Those will be two feet tall. That way if we get two feet of snow at once the unit will be above it. I may even build a roof over it!
You two are inspiring the way you work together. There is some guy that lives in my house that could use some pointers on working nicely with others. 🥺
One of these days, we will have to replace our 1998 HVAC when it dies. We are so blessed that it is still working perfectly in 2021. They don't make them like this anymore. Can't wait to watch all your videos on this project. Blessings!!
My dad was the best at pouring concrete. He could make it look like glass, edge then take a broom and rough it up. As kids we would be told to get rocks to add to his pile. He put down something like a fence, then rebar, the rocks then the cement. He poured a lot at our house in the county so my mom didn’t have to deal with dirt and mud. He was such an amazing husband and dad. He reminds me of you minus the electric work. He hired it out. He would say that’s why they get the big bucks for.
Now I know why RUclips recommended a video on a mini split system and I had guessed that was what you were going to do. Duh! Now I have to go back and watch it. The pad looks good.
Lol you all do stuff like I do I guess that’s just the hillbilly in us I poured a small concrete pad with couple I bolts for generator in case we need it someone said could dug grass up or even put plastic down before concrete I said yes I could have and you could have done it for me but neither one of us did so it’s done and serves the purpose lol keep it up brother n sister
I love playing with concrete. I poured a lot of my older walkways. Living in an older farmhouse, we thought of this type of air/heat system. You guys are amazing. Love you! God’s blessings always.
In Toronto Canada they are using the wood from old trees that have to be cut down. They are making all kinds of things from the wood and is very cheap.
I think you're getting this done just in time. It's been a furnace where I am and we live so close to the northern border I can wave at relatives on the other side. It was 106 on the shady side of the house. I love AC. So far I've watched nearly all the install videos and thinking about getting this system for over at the kid's place.
in the next round of spending - look at solar just for the mini splits with a battery bank just for the mini splits - depending on how far you want to go you can "island" them off just to use the power from the solar battery not the whole house as heating and cooling is a big part of the power bill - others include oven, cloths dryer and hot water cylinder - islanding means it is not at all on the grid so if the power goes off then they still work from the panels and battery bank
This video came at a great time for me! My husband and I are expanding and renovating our vacation cottage into our retirement home in Pennsylvania. My hubby wants us to get a new furnace that combines heat and air conditioning. The only problem with that is you have to run the oil furnace year round then and that gets pricey with the cost of oil. I just have to check on how mini splits deal with snow because we get a couple feet of snow at a time over the course of the winter. Thank you for the information.
I have a cabin that I just put two Mini-Split units in. I did alot of the preliminary work and then had a relative do the final install. My outside units were on a hillside so I had to build a deck. My videos weren't quite as good as yours. Looking forward to see the rest of yours and love your videos.
Your vids always make me laugh! I learn how to do stuff and new wordage - "Cemetisms" LOL. Learning while being entertained is the best, keep it up guys. Love the bloopers too. You two are awesome! P.S. Out of all the vids I have seen on DIY greenhouses, yours is the one I'm choosing to model mine after when I start.
You did it right, this concrete do not need a rebar , with only the AC attached to it there is no big pressure on it, the amount of cement is in my eye to much, but it’s ok! Love how you do it!
Gotta love more ‘beefen’. Loved the reasoning behind using a brad nailer for the framing. And Angela, who made your sandals. A mom doesn’t need 10 minutes to make a point, LOL.
Best tip...wash all the concrete off your tools, wheelbarrow, etc. right away when you're done❗ If you don't do that right away, you'll have gnarly concrete stuck on them for eternity❗😲
Float finish , very satisfying final touch . Excellent the way you work together , teamwork as one . Little ones feeling the heat , ice packs always ready to go . To keep the little ones cool . Two cool little dudes 👍 👍 . . Keep up the excellent work and content guys 👍 👊 . See you all in the next one . .
I say it all the time you Guys make my day the box looks square to me I basically would’ve done the same thing you did no difference it’ll turn out be safe and God bless
We've moved since this video (moved the entire home to another state! Videos of that saga on our channel), but it did seem to settle a little bit. When we hooked this back up at our new property I bought a plastic pad to sit it on. It's worked great!
We didn’t think so, but there are quite a few concrete experts chiming in the comments. Lol 😂 Given how most of the time these are placed on plastic pads or very thin concrete pads we aren’t worried over this one giving us any issues. But again, we’re not experts 😎
@@sam-and-angela I understand. And I guess really good what your using it for. Even if it did crack, I guess it wouldn't be that big of a deal after all.
About two weeks from placing the order to delivery at our home. It had to go from the manufacturer to the shipping hub, then to another delivery service for our area since we're in a remote setting. The longest part of the wait was the delays in order fulfillment -- everything's quite backed up on timelines with them this time of year.
Great DIY Do you think one could design an outdoor patio space with this same application, but making sure it is level? I really would like a. Outdoor space without spending a lot of money 💰 Thanks 😊 Love your channel!
Yes, absolutely! You would want to prep the ground better than we did though: excavate all top soil, add layer of gravel & compact, add in rebar or mesh, & consider adding expansion joints to the slab to keep from breaks and cracks.
LOVE! Thank you guys for doing this series. I have the feeling when you finish this I will wind up getting it. I won't say this is my fave video / series 'cause I love everyone of your videos, but I am thankful for this series- I need heat this year. And I'm thinking, I could do this myself? If y'all can, I can. JS. See ya in the next one :-)
You two are a blessing
Aww, thank you for saying that! We're happy to be able to help others in any way we can!

That's a great idea. I live in the northeast as well and I was going to use cinder blocks to prop the compressor above the snow line.
You two are inspiring the way you work together. There is some guy that lives in my house that could use some pointers on working nicely with others. 🥺
You are clearly enjoying these quickies😃👍
Great change of pace.. eating elephants one bite at a time😉

Mine has been dead for a few years already. Anyway I have seen this mini split for a while thinking I may do this.

LOOKS GREAT SO FAR GUYS, YOU DID GREAT. I LOOK FORWARD T0 THE NEXT VIDEO, HAVE A BLESSED DAY.
Use the fabric and cardboard under the mulch or rock. Cardboard will break down over time but is a great weed barrier.
Try using ratchet straps around your forms before the you put in the stake's. That also help with the corners.
Good Morning Sam & Angela.I am so interested in this project you are doing!Have a wonderful week ahead. 👏👍

Yea! Love the progress! Great job, you guys are the best! God bless your family!
It was just absolutely amazing to see you all do this and a blessing you are for all that you share! Shade and breeze is the best on a hot day!
Fun to watch, can't wait to see the HVAC installed. thanks guys
Love those Bloopers!
Yes, so satisfying to watch you “trowel” the concrete.
Great job y'all 🤠
I love messing with concrete. Can make so many things with.

I agree higher off the ground is good......hugs
You could plant some plants around it that like a bit of extra water
It was relaxing to watch the trowel on the concrete. Y’all are amazing! ❤️❤️❤️
I laughed so hard when you said, "do you not watch the RUclips videos I do?" 🤣
Love watching your videos.
Glad to meet you. You both were having so much fun. Great to mix some fun with the hard work of keeping up a homestead.

It will fine-just install it ( the compressor) up higher. Ours was installed on a higher pedestal. No snow problems!
You seriously need to put a bloopers video for Christmas...you two are a scream! Great video as ever! Thanks guys x
Thank you for your video. Love it
To keep the concrete from adhering to the wood coat the wood with some used motor oil. Additionally, water first then concrete will mix much easier
Great suggestions!
Great job guys 👍

Did a great job
Where your at it might have been overkill on the cement but where I've I'd have needed more so it wouldn't Crack in the winter
Love you guys and your videos too.
Great work and thanks for sharing this with us take care

P.S. The blooper reel is the bomb.

You could let it be a bee and pollinator area bu letting it go wild, or plant wildflowers for a pretty way to do the same.

Did you check AC unit instructions for clearance from building before pouring cement pad
What, no hand prints in the wet cement?
well done the dream team :) hope your all cool ;) keep safe see you soon, love the bloopers too lol
Nice job
Curious: you didn’t scrape the topsoil off before pouring the concrete. Has it settled unevenly or is it just fine as-is?
We've moved since this video (moved the entire home to another state! Videos of that saga on our channel), but it did seem to settle a little bit. When we hooked this back up at our new property I bought a plastic pad to sit it on. It's worked great!
Where are the hand prints?
In the future I see an investigation into price gouging we were charged durning COVID!👍
You two are adorable. We would definitely hang out with you folks.
Was rebar not needed in a pad that small? I'm just wondering.

How long did it take to get the unit once you ordered it? I'm planning on doing same system

I don't know if you noticed, but right before the 5 minute mark a flying thing went under the trailer
I'm coming to visit and I'm bringing my tape measure and level. 😂
Hubby noticed that you didn't spray Angela as she approached...he said, "Yeah, that is not a hornets nest that any husband should go poking at!" LOL!
For anyone interested give it about 2 hours before you do a final finish. It’ll keep you from leaving trowel marks.
do you find that your electricity bills are high at certain times of the month due to all the batteries you are charging ?
@@sam-and-angela I wondered if your electric bills fluctuate when you charge your collection of rechargeable batteries?
The first time I did concrete was the LAST time I do concrete!
You should have put hand 🖐 prints, initials, and the year, in the concrete.
Good vid. For my drathers a bit less talking.
