On this day in 1990, the Saints had started the season very well and were coming off an inspiring win against the Hawks at Moorabbin the previous week, knocking off the reigning premiers for the first time in 11 years. St.Kilda sat in 5t position with 4 wins and the Lions were last on the ladder with only one win from their first 6 games. This had St.Kilda danger signs written all over it playing at Princes Park where the Saints hadn't won at since 1976.
