Special style doesn’t work in a game like Tekken because characters have over 100 plus moves. Street Fighter works because of the smaller movelist. I’m not sure Bamco can properly utilize this because of the limitations of moves, beginners will use it and then realize how limiting it is and how they won’t be getting better. Also am not a fan of seeing 1 button just frame electrics out of special style. Either way it’s pointless imo 😅

This will be abused heavily by players. Honestly, I would prefer this to be used by players who are disabled or young children who want to get into fighting games, especially who aren't great. I can already see this becoming very unfun to be apart of. As controversial as it may sound, I can see experienced players trying to exploit it and make it even easier to them to use this to even further exploit easier juggling, something that's WAY to easy to do.

Modern controls in SF6 still require the player to interact and make decisions, T8's assisted mode plays the game for you.
I get that Tekken has a legacy barrier but those huge movelists are an avenue for creativity which is a worthwhile tradeoff for the difficulty.

In SF6 Classic controls>Modern controls because in modern you can't access everything the character has and you won't do much damage ad the classic controlers do, however the advantsge that they have is that they can do immediate supers and easy combos.

I feel Tekken started getting like this as more and more moves got added. To make matters worse the type of button presses required to do specific moves were never explained well enough.
Most new players I talk to do not even know where to start. I realized this because I am a more casual player but I played more than enough to understand the know how.
When I made a vid on how to execute moves and broke down what to look for others really did appreciate what I did. It's tough. Way more to learn than SF.

you have to understand that having something like sf6 modern control in tekken is impossible cuz there are 100 + attacks for each character and its not possible to perform all of them with 4 bottons + directions! special just gives you a sense of what you character mainmoves are or something for people who just want to have a couple of hours with the game and just have fun with their friends

I feel like specialty mode shouldn't be in to begin with. We gotta stop noobifying these games just to bring in new crowds to get bodied once they start facing skilled players and quit to begin with. Just in the cbt there was people already heat spamming as soon as they got one punch in. Heat already knocks back an opponents atk when activated and makes the dmg crazier than it already is, now we got chip attacks, plus rate art has armor. It's so easy to wall carry in Tekken 8. Combine this with easy execution characters and it's already a problem. The game already damn near negates any type of defensive options and puts everything on offense as well.

Tekken 8 special style will be mostly used by ultra casual players who primarily plays fighting game for its story mode, arcade endings and just for fun online and will drop the game after 50 hours or so of playtime meanwhile it won't be competitively viable for high level player to be solely relying on this mechanism.
However, it will also help new players to understand who wants to get competitive, what to do in certain situations and certain combo routes of their character such as wall carry, wall combo, high damage-oriented combo, power crushes etc etc by trying out special style and then building up more knowledge on top of that base using regular control scheme and experiment more.

I tried special style myself to see how it would feel like for new players and tbh honest I wouldnt say it's that great tbh it's not like Modern controls for SF6 to where players will have a easy understanding of it. Well, I was sadly mistaken and got beat quite alot. After playing I noticed I wasn't having fun and getting mad at myself and the game. I realized that wasn't good and I need to not worry about wins and rank and just learn the game more and have fun overall. It took me losing to see that just have fun and the knowledge will come after practice and experience. This is great info. For any new or frustrated players don't get worked up about trying to be number 1 because that won't happen on the first day, week or even month. tekken 8 right now in its current state is horrible for new players or people who dont sink years into tekken because both quick match and ranked are riddled with all mighty rulers and tekken gods flying through the ranks and every game is just rng. if tekken were to implement a better ranked system like other games where you play 5 matches to gauge your skill and then give you a base ranking i feel this would be much different but the issue ive run into is- ive been playing tekken since tekken 2 and although for most of the installments it was just button mashing i had a very good understanding of moving on a 3d plain, timing moves, and moving away from mashing with more deliberate combos. yet that seems to all be useless in this when im trying to learn from a match but i just get beaten by a true combo from a yoshimitsu thats supposed to be 18th dan and i would consider myself maybe 6th-7th dan at this point in time and i although i truly want to surpass that i cant even get to that rank because im either playing against a person whos never touched tekken and i perfect them or a global ranked player from tekken 7 who just bought tekken 8 and crushes me.
i thought that okay maybe if i move to quick match i can practice and hone in on these match ups and combos i struggle with and get a good foundation but almost every match im playing against mighty rulers even in quick match and its ruining the game for me. I LOVE TEKKEN and always have and i beat the story mode in the first couple hours of owning the game yet all that fun dissipates and im left unfulfilled and frustrated because i feel like i cant even improve so my suggestions to anybody who isnt a highly ranked player from tekken 7 is to wait a good 5 more months before buying the game, let all the sweats get to their ranks let all the people who are newer hear about the game and give it a try and then come into the game and utilize all the amazing new mechanics the game has to offer like the replay option or all the new options in practice mode the game its self is wonderful and truly feels so fluid and fun but its unplayable in its current state unless you just want to use king and do grabs until you get soft locked at like 8th dan

I feel like Special Style is designed for people who never want to truly get better at Tekken. Y'know, like for the people who barely touch video games let alone fighting games. They just feel like having casual fun with some other friends.
I don't think Tekken 8's Special Style is supposed to be an equivalent to Street Fighter's Modern Controls, but instead it's supposed to feel more like Street Fighter's Dynamic Controls (or maybe some kind of in-between).
Currently Special Style has 5 attacks per button, thus giving 20 attacks and some of these completely ignore the need for execution like one button EWGF. Sounds like a party mode control scheme to me, but I could be wrong...

All modes and input methods like this in fighting games just feel like absolute shit. Like, I would never ever pay full price or even discount for the gameay offered kinda dogshit. Just really mashy, random, basic gameplay that's totally fake. Plus do people not feel patronised using it?? It's the equivalent of unplugging the controller when your sibling asks to play. There's being for beginners and then there's just straight up babying people.

In my opinion, the way to fix these issues is to keep everything the same but have the ranked and quick play modes separate from eachother to put everyone on an even playing field. Segregate classic controls and special controls to its own modes because it seems classic has more execution with higher reward. Take it from a person who just picked up Tekken 7 a month and a half ago. I gradually got better by watching people better than me play the game and guides. I learned that 1 of Tekken's key components is higher execution and higher reward. All these characters have over 100 moves to learn and limiting that in special styles and only providing a hand full of moves to a newbie and then throwing them to the wolves where they go against people with full access to their character is bad for the newbie experience. So i say Segregate them. I dropped SF6 for that very reason but because Modern control users were beating me when i used classic controls. I think SF6 has the same problem but backwards. Modern Control users have a significant advantage because i spent a good 3 - 4 months getting ready for SF6 with classic controls and my friend who picked up the game in 2 weeks wIth modern controls can some how almost keep up with me is crazy IMO. Tekken in its core is way more nuanced than Street fighter tho. Learning curve is steeper but more fun.

is tekken 8 bad for new players?
I feel that tekken is a game unlike 2d fighters your best moves are not attached to moves that are hard to perform in most cases, because even though there are qcf and back inputs there not required kinda like smash or mk. In this sense to me special style is rather unnecessary outside of auto combos and moves that really shouldnt be one button.
the thing is like you said tekken even though the movelist is large your not using all those moves your using a selection of main tools. I hope the tutorial explains this and how to play these characters in detail rather then people looking at the movelist and getting intermated by it. the majority of the way tekken 7 players learn to play their it by using outside resources from the game itself like discord and youtube.
another complain is that tekken has too many gimmicks per character making learning match ups very hard and yea it true and they haven't reduced them at all but, replays have been updated and you can now take control of your character making labing a lot easier for everyone. well this doesn't fix the issue of there being a lot to memorize i think people are too focus on wanting to win and play perfectly or not wanting to feel like they dont know anything. I think it a lot better to just not worry about those things while learning tekken and just enjoy the process of learning and playing your not going to know everything even knee doesnt and that's ok take your time. knowledge is the hardest thing about tekken some and people like it some people dont.
to answer the question again i think while tekken 8 does things make the game easy to pick up and play but, I think if you really want to stick around and get into the meat and potato's of it you need to be a pretty patient person and the amount of depth not be everyone's cup tea and i dont expect tekken toturials to explain every little thing but well see not every game is for everyone.

When it comes to "legacy skill", NOTHING comes close to how well they carry than in shooters, good aim will carry you even in a brand new shooter. YET, anyone, can pick up valorant, fortnite, or overwatch and have PERFECTLY even matches(50% winrate) in less than a week. First off, there is the fact that those games are team based which softens the blow of skill difference but that's not the deciding factor.
However, BY FAR, BY A LIGHT YEAR, the biggest reason why fighting games are "inaccessible" to beginners is population size. Street fighter 6, the game that shattered FG records, currently has 6k players(steam only). This population so small that a complete beginner will simply not have access to equally skilled players, and in a years time? a complete beginner has to do homework for at least a month to even begin to feel they're on an equal footing against ppl in matchmaking, this is simply not something people will put up with, LET ALONE pay $60 for.
Solution? make fighting games f2p. Obviously the japanese suits are living 70 years in the past when it comes to business strategy so I don't have much faith in them. Those fuckers think it's acceptable to have battle pass + pay walled cosmetics + paywalled characters IN A FULL PRICED GAME, blame lies on the FGC for this one honestly.
HOWEVER, project L will achieve a fundamental change in FGC landscape for the simple fact that it's a high budget fighting game that is 100% f2p. It might not be the BEST, but I hope it will push for a new monetization system that is better for literally everyone involved.

i think the big thing with "accessibility" in fighting games is absolutely nothing to do with how hard the game is. there are basically only four categories of things you need to learn. basic movement and defense, LMH (lows, mids, highs), throws, and your safe wakeup options. that's it. characters have hundreds of moves, but you don't see all one-hundred in a game. you probably don't see more than fifteen. so learn the important ones. jab (fast high poke), your fastest and most safe mid move, and a low poke. you really can get by on the absolute bare minimum.
once you understand the basics, branch out. figure out a super basic launcher into an air combo. three hits is fine. four if it's a string or a chain. as long as it's consistent and easy to do, you have a launch punish accessible to you. maybe two hours of gameplay and you'll be able to have a good time fighting and learning. if you don't like learning, don't play fighting games.

😂😂It's not bad for new Players but for us who practice to master it it's like a reset, like wtf did i learn it for hours. Honestly I don't like it, I'm sure most of the players like me who played and practice our ass to complete a hard combo, and EWGF won't like this. There's no satisfaction in this one button mashing, especially in rank and tournament matches, wtf Bamco thinking, dont be greedy Bamco.
