Loose Watercolor Poppy Field in Tuscany | Easy Italian Landscape Tutorial for Beginners Step by Step

- Today we are off to Italy to enjoy the scenery and do some landscape painting!
We all want to succeed with our landscapes and to do so you really do need a good quality paper, and there is nothing better than Arches 140lb cold press fine grain paper from France - it’s widely available online. I buy mine in sheets from Jacksons because that way it is much more affordable. People don’t always realise how much they are paying for the privilege of a piece of cardboard and a cover to the ready cut paper in the form of a pad or block. Also the loose sheets come with a lovely deckle edge, which is nice to have.

I could hear how relaxed and peaceful you were doing this painting. I was relaxed watching and listening, the soft music in the background and your soothing voice and watching the magic of watercolors was just an amazing relaxing half hour of my day today, so thank you for that! Have a great day, Diane!
My pleasure 😊 and thank you so much for your lovely comment as usual Renee! Hope you have a great day too and that you get round to painting this one soon!
Gotta watch this tommorrow.

Very charming. Enjoyed that ❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love this painting.
Hi Diane. You said in one of your videos for us to develop our own style of painting and I realised that my imagination needs to be woken up to enable me to do just that and painting is definitely a way to do it. I didn’t realise that my imagination had gone to sleep until I started drawing and painting again. Thank you for your tutorials they are wonderful ❤❤
So glad you enjoyed that one, I’m going to watch it again myself!
Absolutely beautiful!
Thank you so much!
Always love your work Diane
Thank you so much Maura!

Love love! We leave for Tuscany in 3 weeks. Can‘t wait for these colors. You captured them right there ❤️
How wonderful Annette! Hope you have a lovely time and don't forget to take your painting things!
Wonderful as always Diane. Busy day here, quit raining and the sun is shining so will have to paint later.
Sounds great! Thanks for the comment Kim!
Wonderful portrayal of a Tuscan scene
Thanks so much Linda!
Ths is delightful
Thank you!
Beautiful! I love Italian landscapes, structures, and influences. I want to try this. Great job Diane!
I love it! I used the other tutorial that is similar minus the poppies for a final landscape painting in an art class. It was supposed to be plein air but I didn’t want to do it that way for whatever reason 😂 I did use the 5 colors we learned to mix which was required and it turned out pretty good. The instructor was a little miffed but did want to know how I got the color for the building and roof. 😊 Thank you for your lovely tutorials. I really enjoy them ❤
Beautiful painting. I'm a beginner at watercolor and I really like your style of painting and teaching. I have subscribed to your channel.
Thanks and welcome to the channel! So glad you found us x
Hi Diane, watched this video whilst being stranded in Milan after losing my passport. My mind was in such a turmoil but yr video calmed me down. Looking forward to painting something similar when I eventually get home. Thank you again. Dawn
Hi Dawn, what a horrible experience that must have been, hope it all worked out fine in the end. Glad to have been of some small assistance in weathering the storm! Happy painting!
Happy mothers day Diane...God bless you for your gift of art. This is very peaceful and lovely

My mom passed 2018.

Sorry to hear that Cathy, hope you enjoy painting the poppy scene x

@ 13:30 into video ‘Diane NO Red!’ -Darker RED!! 😲😲 - “Wake up Black” 🥺😫. Nail biting @ this point! OK - so I didn’t know you were doing poppies, BECAUSE … this student did not listen to the beginning. 🙏 I love what you do for us, it gets me through. You’re really cranking out the videos, 🥰✌️be well.
That's so funny! Thanks for sharing, appreciate your support!

Thanks so much for your support Sundie, you're the first person to use the button!!! THANK YOU!!!
So pretty, very picturesque 💜
I hope it will be as easy for me when I try this. Everything is worth trying if it means you learn something right.😊
Thank you Diane.
Thanks so much Maria, I’m sure you will manage it. It’s not so difficult! Don’t forget the sketch can be downloaded for free!
Thank you Diane. So pretty.

Beautiful, love your work😊
Thanks so much Linda!
This was so much fun and I learned so much from you! Thanks so very much❤️🧑🎨
Thanks so much for your kind comment Ken, really appreciate it and your support is most valuable to me. Happy painting!
I love all your tutorials. I am wondering if you prefer to paint on a flat surface, or easel?
I usually paint flat Melinda but bigger paintings sometimes need an easel x
This is gorgeous
Oh Diane! I absolutely love this! So beautiful...I shall have to look into these watercolors. I love the red poppies. Here in California the state flower is the California Poppy which is gold (which I also love). They are currently in bloom in the wild. Brianne brought me one home the other day...I must do this for my sister, who loves Italy and poppies....thank you for all the different techniques.
Golden poppies next time!
I just finished it. It was so much fun! Thanks Diane.
Very charming. I did my own version and it came out well. Thank you.
Live this! I am going to try it tomorrow ❤️
Have fun Maggi!
I like this very much! I'd like to see you do more in a vignette style.
Thanks so much Vicki! Will do!
Will look forward to trying this soon, thank you x
You’re welcome 😊 enjoy!

Bedankt
Thanks so much for your support Veertje, you are the first to use the Super Thanks button in Euros!! THANK YOU!
Why didn’t you use the brush when you rubbed out the second, third, forth and fifth time? Just an observation. Very good painting though!
I don’t know. I was probably thinking about what I was going to do next and forgot about my best practices. Thanks for your comment.
Love the painting. Can you tell me what is the name of the ink pen you used? Thank you!
Hi Carol and thanks for your comment and question. I use Staedtler Pigment Liners for most of my pen work. Here's a link to a good value set on Amazon: amzn.to/38StZaq Hope that helps x
❤
Glad you like it Connie!
I'd like to do something similar with blue hydrangea to remind me of the Azores.
🤗🤗💕💕💕💕💕💕🤗🤗
When did Mothers Day stretch out to a week lol?
consumable by vegans😂😂
Where did I say that????? I can’t find it!
@@DianeAntoneStudio When you were talking about your brushes at the beginning you said “they are even consumables by vegans “
