I’m 6’4 - 195lbs and Use to absolutely love the VP3 but As I became a faster stronger runner I noticed how fast they bottomed out for me during workouts. Surprisingly the deviate nitro elite 3 solved that for me. It reminds me so much of the VP3 but firmer with no bottom out issues
After watching your review, I decided to get my pair VP3 after all my great memories with VP1,2. I’m very strict with my own running form which fasten my 10k PR from 40min to 34:50 just within 11weeks window. VP facilitated my running and I’ll continue being fan of them! I really appreciate your perspective!! From Japan!🇯🇵
That's the issue what I'm thinking about. A couple of medals stacked in my room and I realized I'm not a racer but runner. I'm happy with watching beautiful scenery with running in comfortable pace. I consider enjoying the marathon by volunteering next year.
I think you are spot on. I took the VF3 for a 16mile tempo today, and thought I was in a bottoming out the whole time. And I'm not 6'3", I am 5'8" and 130lbs. I have the MS Edge for my next marathon shoe.
I agree, the marathon has been like a 1000 piece jig saw puzzle for me. Searching for the right pieces, putting all of them together in the perfect way with one short moment of overwhelming joy, if everything worked out well......... I started out running 5k time trials for around 8 years with an occasional 10k Sunday morning jog through the forest, and after all those years of having run all distances up to 24 hours, my true love always has been the 5k. Going out hard and running til the legs hurt and the lounges burn, collapsing right after crossing the finish line........such a joy in my heart. Even today, running 11 minutes slower than my lifetime pr, the feeling is exactly the same....i can live very well without the marathon , but never without my the all out 5k
@@supwell outside PE at school, my first ever run on Sep. 9 1074 was a 5k on the track. It was love on first sight and i never looked back, having done more than 400 5k time trials in my life. During my time at the university i shared the track with the decathon elite of the world ( Siggi Wentz, Guido Kratschmer). I got goosebumps, when i raced around the track, while those monster athletes easily overtook me without breathing hard.
Im a lightweight guy with narrow feet, the vaporfly 3 is without doubt the fastest shoe i ever tried. Yes the vf2 feels faster but my data says there is nothing in speed difference between de vf2 and vf3
The forefoot is actually 3 mm lower than the 2. Check runrepeat. They rounded the rocker more though. The 1 and 2 had a more aggressive curve in the forefoot.
IMO all of the Vaporflys have a sweet spot that you have to hit otherwise the ride is choppy. So there's more of a focus on form with the Vaporflys. I still think the 1s are the best - still have a few pairs that I only ever use on race day.
I've had 4 pairs of super shoes, countless other shoes, and the Vaporfly 3 is the only one I've never had a bad race/bad workout, or some discomfort in. Most reviews seem to hate on them but they're my favourite pair of shoes I've owned and when looking to run a PB I have a tinge of uncertainty running in anything else
I find that the Alphafly is the hobby jogger racer. Vaporfly feels like I’m running on skates. Like you said, I’m certainly thinking about the way my foot lands / how I toe off. I picked up the Vaporfly for a steep discount so I don’t regret it - it has turned into a really fun workout shoe and an absolutely viable 5k or 10k for a lot of hobby joggers. I also agree that the marathon is too much- but if you’re like me, you have to do the most extreme challenge. I really find that the 10 mile distance is my ideal fun run while still pushing some serious endurance … But I’m not going to quit marathons until I get that BQ.
I decided for my own health's sake to focus on shorter distances. Right now I'm training for 5Ks. I'm in base build mode, which means I still do 'long' runs. But I like going fast and holding on as long as I can.
Vaporfly 2 is my favourite shoe ever. I didn't get on with the Vaporfly 3. The upper didn't work for me. The heel lock was bad and I always get lace bite on the top of my foot when I tried wearing it as I had to tie the laces so tight (and I still didn't get a good heel lock!).
Personally felt they heavily nerfed the shoe to just HM/full distance since it’s not aggressive anymore. All the previous generations I could do everything from the mile to marathon
Yowana, you were going to post about the future color ways for the Brook's Glycerin Max. Not seeing it on the Supwell app? Or here? Could you share a link?
Great question - price definitely factors into my recommendations, especially for training shoes. The ride of this is so specialized though and works well for such a narrow slice of runners it's not a price decision. If you had a $170 budget and wanted a solid marathon race shoe I'd suggest the puma deviate nitro 3. Or if you could spend a bit more the hoka mach x2 for $190. Or sign up for the Supwell app and get a shoe on a better deal there 😂
That makes total sense. I took the Vaporfly 3 out again today and I was definitely disappointed. I wouldn’t use this for a marathon. I’ve used the previous generations for every marathon. It’s definitely too squishy and I felt it bottoming out a bit. Nike needs to bring the OG back or version 1. I feel like the company has lost touch with runners and are making the shows they want to make. The rest of the market is doing the opposite. I checked out the Peg Premium and that shoe weighs more than a cinder block. Peg Turbo is another shoe I loved that they have destroyed. Thank you!
VF 3 has not appealed to elite marathoners. Many are still running in Vaporflys, but versions 1 and 2. The 3 seems to lack the special sauce. This according to Chris at Sagasu Running.
When you stand on tiptoe to take off the shoe is too thin and you feel like you are touching the ground. That didn't happen with the Next 1 or the Next 2 and that is Nike's mistake in this shoe. It feels comfortable and reactive but the catapult effect is greatly lost for the reason I said above. Let's see if they improve it in v4.
Yeah i think i liked about it, it worked with my gait, i would just pop on it the right way but i would say it is unstable i remember my feet feeling sore after my 10k race
@@supwell i will give them slick certified. But caveat is i never ran a marathon before so i probably would recommend it for 4 hour marathon which i would fit in that category.
Vapor fly is the OG. But, I feel they are the best for half and down... Shoes like the Pro 3/4 maybe heavier... But better for marathons.. esp 3 hours and up.
I wouldn't recommend it - they're not the most comfortable for that. If you want a Nike for casual wear, check out the Vomero 17, invincible 3 or infinity rn 4. My personal choice would be the Vomero
I just ran a half-marathon in the VaporFly 3. 5'11, 190 lbs. Definitely agree with the bottoming out in the toes and narrow heel. I averaged a 9 min pace (i am not fast). I dont have any other carbon plate shoe to compare it too. Yowana your content is golden!
4% was soft and dynamic, Next%2 was too harsh and without character. Next%3 is only a big name. Extremly loose upper, flat midsole. Only weight is good.
idc what anyone says, I'm not respecting any shoe that only has 100 good kilometers, even if it's a race day shoe. Only Nike and Hoka are willing to put out such short lifespan shoes so I don't touch those brands
a year ago I had the shoe for 2 weeks and I returned it. this shoe is crap and all nike makes is crap. That shoe has cheap material and doesn't really feel that fast. these weird ppl should stop buying nike's, those are not that good for running. ur better off with an asics or a saucony. heck I'd rather yet a mizuno
