The music quality is pretty consistent throughout the entire series tbh. Even SS had a solid OST.

Underrated? People love it. I'd say it's accurately rated. If you want underrated, Color Splash. Masterpiece of a soundtrack from a game about 19 people played.
It feels like a soundtrack for a far better game. Like these composers went ALL OUT while the game itself was hamstrung by needless restrictions and requirements. Can you imagine a Thousand Year Door style/scope door with a soundtrack THIS GOOD??? Not to say Thousand Year Door's soundtrack isn't also excellent but Origami King's OST is some serious next level shit.

@@SomeGalNamedEve I don't *hate* The Origami King and if it wasn't in the same franchise as The Thousand Year Door, I'd probably give it some more slack. I just have to mentally separate the post-Sticker Star games from the Pre-Sticker Star games.
Origami King is absolutely better than Sticker Star and Color Splash but the story and creativity is just not even close to the level of Paper Mario 64, Thousand Year Door, or Super Paper Mario.

I always engage battles to just hear this music, I literally solve the puzzle and then stop for like 1-2 minutes at the "Choose weapon" screen to just listen to the music

This is what I like about origami king. Not only the battle theme is a bop, but the game doesn't say you have to battle enemies, but you are rewarded for doing so, and unlike the last 2 games, the reward is actually quite nice as you can buy treasures and in game passes (royalty pass), as well as weapons. And even though you could do that in Sticker Star and Color Splash, it's more rewarding in Origami King as the attacks last a little bit longer

The game straight up GIVES you an invisibility cloak. It's like saying "Oh, you think battles are pointless? See how you like it when you NEVER HAVE to do them, then you'll change your mind!"

I already loved this at times where the game wasnt out yet. And the fact that this amazing piece of music isnt even the best normal battle theme this game has to offer really speaks for itself.

It takes some time, especially when there are multiple themes for the same area or event.
Ikr! Watching those commercials I already fell in love with the song, and there's so much better battle themes in this game it's mind blowing really, I didnt expect the music to change depending on where you were and it was such a lovely surprised!

Never understood that. You're in a fight where the people/monsters in question want nothing but to end your life as quickly and as gruesomely as possible, and the music that's being played is as upbeat and as happy as you can imagine. I suppose in Mario's case it's because the people/monsters in question are, for the most part, cute creatures that're otherwise docile and harmless when not ordered to hurt him. Goombas _can_ be pretty sweet when they're actually on his side, after all.

When I came across my first ennemy, I immediately prayed for the music to be as cool as in Color Splash and... I was pretty satisfied with the music. So I thought : " Wow, I get to hear that music in all the fights in the game ! "

I didn't like this theme when Nintendo first previewed it. Yet, the first time I heard it in game, I couldn't stop bopping. I guess I just needed more context for it.

Not every battle has this theme. You'd think that'd be bad, but all the other battle themes are either just as good or even better.

I've always got a Mario Kart 8 vibe with this song because of the jazz and rock themes.
So by “red streamer” does it mean that it is the battle theme while you do the red streamer part of the story, and different for the other streamers? I think that I saw there were like 4 or 5 other battle theme variations of this melody

@@RoboJM There's also a remix for the vullemental temples, creepy or uncertain areas, a different melody entirely for event or required battles, underground areas, and Autumn Mountain has it's own theme because the Blue Streamer theme is used for Showgun Studios.

I can't really say anything for the people who miss the XP system of this series, I do not understand you. The mainline Mario games never used that mechanic anyways. I like to think that the series really living up to the "Paper" name was a step in the right direction. Plus, this game has a much better character/boss cast like some of the older games.

Seeing gameplay from older games i think your right,the partners look more creative(than a bob-omb missing a fuse)and you get more fun awards.the only thing i disagree with is the battle system,origami king has a better battle system in my opinion.
@@lambda-9000 it already has RPG mechanics:turns,strategies,items with duration(can break if you use too much),money mechanics,upgrades(hearts),colectibles that help you in battle(toads),and a good battle sistem,secret ending for 100% completion and partner mechanics for each world(Bobby,Scavenger toad,kamek,Bowser Junior,also R.I.P Bobby)and puzzles

I’m so torn. I love nearly every other battle theme in the series and despite never having played this game, my nostalgia for the TTYD battle music makes me want to say that that’s my favorite. Despite that, I almost objectively think that this is the best one of them all.

Look, I know one day I'll *have* to go back and replay every previous Paper Mario game (including the so-called "bad" games just so I could have an opinion on them), but Origami King is currently the only Paper Mario game I've ever played, and it was an amazing experience. And this track slaps!

It's is pretty weak in the character department. It's like there's gotta be a 'standard' version of the song somewhere, and this seems to be it. The song with little stylizing done to it.
