The plate blowing out of the hammer bottom makes me wonder if the operator runs the hammer "dry", meaning without pressing the tip onto the rock they want to break. Rock or not, all the energy/impulse has to go somewhere, so the case eats it--until it can't, and fails in short order because it's never been meant to take that abuse. Expensive operator habit that'll get someone chewed out real good, but I guess it's job security for you!
Excellent repair. Far better than OEM. Would it be worth Hard Facing the edges if the customer was willing to pay for it, or better just to replace the parts you made when they wear out? I always notice that you don't use side handles on your angle grinders. I know there are times that it gets in the way, but I would recommend using one the rest of the time. I'm old and suffering from a lot of pain and problems from years of hard work and using my body for a tractor, crane, and forklift. Save yourself.
As a 23 year old fab welder I try my best to learn from the older guys around me since I was 18 but I have a freind that's 30 has a nice shop and I help him on the weekend I love the work you do man keep on posting just found your Chanel and have a watched a few videos keep it up my friend
It's good work if you can get it, but there's a lot of weekend hours keeping these machines productive in the field. You got some really lucky customers!

I think you're undervaluing your own work. This video is now 2 yrs. old. I'd love to know if that unit is still working and don't doubt that it is. That repair was FAR superior to OEM.
So I guess the phrase - do you think you know better then the engineers that design the part - might be true, unless something else made them design this specific design....what I found - sometimes - is that making one part stronger then designed, makes another, more expensive more difficult to fix part brake....just saying ...

If I have ever seen a perfect example of having equipment in highly abrasive environments hard face this is it....pay the money people and be on top of your maintenance and repair. Loving the vids bud between you and IC weld I don't watch much else these days.

5:45....it might have been better with oxy/fuel, but that plasma torch of yours has some serious power......I used to cut 1" with a 100 amp and it struggled.....looking good....
Just my opinion but should soften those corners some. Operators sometimes think there surgeons and try to get that point right in the correct spot before they operate. AND THAN THERES THE OTHERS THAT JUST BEAT THAT SHIT TO DEATH ....MACHINE TOO..... AND THEIR BOSS THINKS THEIR A GOOD WORKER???? KOOL VIDEO. KEEP IT UP
One thing I've noticed in your videos is you don't do near enough explanation of the work to be done and spend too much time showing the work being done in slow methodical closeups and concise wide shots

In this application I’m not sure how much hard facing would help meaning I’m not sure it would be worth the extra labor. They just have to realize if they are going to use it in this manner then it needs to be rebuilt every 6 months.

That’s the good thing about cracks. If you ignore them and let them develop, they get easier to find.

Yes. They destroyed it in about 7 months. I rebuilt it again but about 3 times as much material this time.

Great work improving the design. I might suggest tapering the end of the gussets to avoid stress concentration. Perhaps last 4 inches.

Lots of wear on the structure of that hammer, a huge number of cycles.
Would it have enhanced the bottom plate if you had 45'd the corners of the plate vs the square corners which are going wear pretty quick?

You need to throw the plasma away and go to oxyacetylene on the thick plate.
I might use the torch and slightly round those square edges as it might snag something or some one
Why not use a piece of C Channel cut the hole pointing the c down to build as a guide not to go past it

Hypertherm 45XP are rated for 5/8 @ 20 inches per minute. That might be a good one to start with-if you have enough dry air.
