      @@cbtx777 and you can get one (different model) for $64.59 with just one airbrush. Getting that one and using the money saved to buy a better brush might be he way to go. I'm thinking of buying a compressor with an air tank to reduce the wear and tear of the compressor turning on and off so often. My short little search has shown that most of these manufacturers have engineered these combo compressor/tanks completely wrong.

    There should be a vent hole to allow air in bottle. So it can get sucked into sparyer. Cant suck paint out of a closed bottle. Also only adjust air while sprayer is pumping out air.

    I have been painting baits for a few years with an assortment of airbrushes, I have had that single action AB for years and never used it, recently I have discovered that you can base coat 3 times faster and with heavier viscosity paint than you can with the double action gravity feeds that I have (master 5ea, harbor freight, Badger renegade krome and a Paasche vision) that little brush beats them all for complete bait coverage with the least head ache once you learn to use it, you will love it, just do not expect fine detail, but 10% the clogs and not near as temperamental about paint thinning for those complete bait coverage painting. Good videos and keep up the good work

    A little late, but the one with the larger bowl is also available at HF with a little better compressor. The siphon feed brush is, from appearance, the same as the one HF sold for $10. They do work, and with a little fiddling work pretty well, but they're intended for painting larger areas. The problem the OP was having, just not screwing the nozzle up far enough. Setting that works best when the air is on. Cleaning it is a little sketchy, but it does come apart easy to be washed. I use lacquer thinner, then blow it out and reassemble.

    You are correct in your assessment of the siphon feed brush, they do have their uses. I use mine to do large areas such as backgrounds and such, or when putting white base coat on multiple baits at one time, the larger volume of paint is good for that but I find very limited use for them and they can be problematic with vents plugging as others have noted.As with many other tools , their uses are only limited by the skills of the user. The other brushes you tested though look great and thanks for the testing video. I have only started doing baits the last couple of months and am loving it , next step is to start carving and pouring to begin feeding my muskie fishing dreams. May not be cheaper than just buying a bait , but certainly will be a lot more satisfying to land something nice on something I MADE MYSELF ! Keep up the good work , We all stand on the shoulders of giants in the advancement of knowledge.

    Thanks, this was really helpful. I've been trying to put together the "best" starting kit i could without breaking the bank and i was just so unsure about the amazon kits. I was going to get the harbor freight pump and an iwata eclipse from hobby lobby, but i don' think im going to do that now. This seems like a decent setup for the money. thanks for the video and keep them coming. My next big decision is going to be the paint purchase. Right now my lean is a couple of the ComArt kits, some Aztec pearls, and a couple of the Wicked Detail, like their sepia and moss green. It would be nice to hear your thoughts on color selection, and what you'd do differently now vs when you got started.

    That airbrush you dislike is probably the best priming/basing airbrush design to date. The badger 350 I had is the same thing and with the Medium and Heavy heads coats larger models like a dream. If this one comes with the Fine head I can see your dilemma as the fine really doesn't work at low pressure with thick paints very well. My Badger has all 3 and the M and H were the ones I used with zero problems ever including many Hobby paint tournaments.

    I've been using airbrushes from 1964 (Bump and paint man), have a degree in fine arts, art teacher and painted anything and everything that stands still. None of those companies MANUFACTURE airbrushes or related equipment, they sell Chinese knock offs and re-badge them.
    If you are looking for quality equipment, cheap prices and easy to find parts... in the USA look at Paasche Airbrush Co (American made Since 1904), Compressor; several choices, with Sparmax being number one "Oil Free" ... brought out in early 1990's, everybody from Iwata to about everyone in China copied it's design or purchased it and re-badge it... just a fact of life..
    I personally own at one time or another about every brand airbrush made. I'm 73' and in my studio I have two Sparmax twins compressors, a Jun Air (Oil Bath) silent compressor (extremely expensive)... Airbrushes, Paashe, One old Iwata HPC, several Sparmax (SP-35) brushes, and 3 EFBE (German).
    You get what you pay for. For all my students I recommended Sparmax compressors with tanks, (Art Logic, makes a cheaper quality pump for hobby work). In the old days we also used CO2 tank gas to run the airbrushes as the noise of old style pumps drove the studio crazy...LOL
    So check what your local art stores sell (including parts, important) ... avoid Amazon or big carton hardware chains as EVERYTHING they sell is Chinese rip-offs. For fishing lures Art Logic compressor with a tank are not expensive and used the Paasche Mdl H (developed back in the 1920's is simple, cheap to fix and robust, will do a great job in an beginner-pro's hands. Be safe...

    It sound so silent, much more so than others I have heard in numerous videos I have watched. Is this true or is the compressor just far away from the microphone? Thank you so much for the helpful video. - is this only for 110-120 or also 220? Many thanks

  • @zombieno1
    @zombieno1 3 года назад

    I was really interested in this one BUT with a pressure tank to help reduce the frequency of it turning on and off. From what I'm seeing on Amazon, this might be a newer model compressor because the design looks different from 95% of what I'm seeing that comes with a pressure tank. I'm thinking I might get this one and then one day upgrade with a separate pressure tank.

    Hi my friend, just bought and received the exact hardware that you're showing, thanks for the unboxing!
    I just found your channel, going to watch all videos and learn, in the meantime I would like to ask: I never use airbrush before those 2 that you are showing( I didn't buy the bottom fead) and that compressor is my first set up ever so I have to learn everything, 2 questions:
    1-The haverage psi to start with, around 20?
    2-about paint, I would like to begin with acrylic, how to thin color?
    Thanks so much for your help!

    • @BakerBuilds
      @BakerBuilds  4 года назад +2

      Good deal! I run mine at about 40psi. But that’s with Createx Airbrush paint. If you thin down Acrylic paint you can probably spray it at a lower pressure. When you thin the paint you will want it to be about the thickness of milk or eggnog. Also, be careful with the bait after you spray, acrylics scratch easy. I will spray mine with a polyurethane out of a spray can to help protect it till the actual clear coat goes on. Good luck!

    • @lannabulls
      @lannabulls 4 года назад +1

      Createx are probably colors made for airbrush, what the difference between acrylic and paint for airbrush? Different way of thin? Most important, about thin acrylics, just water or something else as floetrol, glicerin oil, etc, if you did acrylic on the past, how did you thin them for airbrush? Thanks!

    • @BakerBuilds
      @BakerBuilds  4 года назад +3

      Luca Esposito oh yeah, forgot to say that. I just thinned mine with water. I believe there are thinners sold at hobby stores specifically for thinning paints for the airbrush however I have not used them and I’m not sure what they are made out of. But water worked good for me

    • @lannabulls
      @lannabulls 4 года назад

      That's what I like to ear. I'm Italian living in Chiang Mai, Thailand, here we can't find all these tools, materials that over there in USA you easily find everywere, the only option for specific stuff is eBay, Amazon however with import tax The Price turns to double if lucky. So water to me is more than fine, thanks a lot and now I can begin!

  • @cchemmes-seeseeart3948
    @cchemmes-seeseeart3948 2 года назад

    I am just learning all about this, but from what I have come across, if you set the pressure too high on an airbrush, you will get air & no paint. That may explain your trouble with the bottom siphon larger airbrush unit. You read the pressure should be 15-50 psi, & that 'normal operating psi is 30." But you were set to 40 psi, & got no paint, but air. You then cranked it even higher, to 50 psi. You got some paint, but not a good flow. But you did not test going lower, (either trying to step down, after 'priming') or trying the lower 30 psi recommended level. It left me to wonder if that may have fixed the problem? I think this tank siphon brush might be good for clear coating.

    Zach, great video and review. I watched this about a month ago and ended up purchasing the same bundle. I am a newbie and figured this was the best way to get my feet wet. I've been using it and noticed that I am having some issues with the paint getting clogged. Just wondering if you use reducer with your wicked and createx paints. I have not. Second question is regarding the compressor. It constantly turns on when spraying and I'm wondering if this is normal. I thought it should turn on periodically when it loses pressure. Since it is truning off and on almost every time I spray the motor is getting hot. Just wondering what I may be doing wrong. Love your videos. They are so helpful and you are a great videographer. Nice level of creativity and filming always make the experience better. Keep them coming!

    • @justinsciacca3524
      @justinsciacca3524 2 года назад

      you're not doing anything wrong, there is no tank on this compressor. So everytime you press the button it needs to turn on to keep the pressure up. They do get hot. depending on where you l ive and the humidity outside, sometimes when they get really hot water condenses. The moisture trap is supposed to catch the water before it gets in the hose. but if it forms in the hose it'll spit water occasionally. I live in florida and this happens to me. a tanked system helps prevent this and stores air so it does not turn on so often, so it does not get as hot.

      Depends on the paint you are using. If it’s water based then your good. However if you are spraying a ton then it wouldn’t hurt haha

    Is there a video on how to get the compressor to work? Yeah, it's plugged in, Yeah, power is on, Yeah, hose is attached. Pressure comes out, press down on trigger, compressor drains to 0, everything just stops, nothing happens.
