      Could be a number of things. To much Pre Emergent, soil to hard, variety of grass, not mowing often enough, not using the right fertilizers, needs too dressing, but in most cases when I see that it’s because on soil compaction. A really good aeration and or top soil dressing normally fixes that issue. The roots that are supposed to tack down can’t penetrate the soil.

    Your channel and another RUclipsr “Lawn Insider” I watch passionately, you guys are are the man when it comes to taking care of my Bermuda grass especially in the south. I live in SATX and we have water restrictions but even with the restrictions my yard is still the healthiest and the greenest lawn. I have a golf course lawn and have the best yard in our subdivision. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR KNOWLEDGE. Knowledge is power! Don’t stop what you are doing it’s very therapeutic and a true blessing for passionate lawn owners like myself.

    Great video, BYD. I must say - this video helped me kill my denial, lol. From the start of the season, I've been trying to maintain my turf at fairway height (0.45") ... but after hearing you say "find that sweetspot" for months, I finally raised my HOC to 0.6" and the turf looks fantastic. Thanks!

  • @matthewmccord4858

    Had to raise my HOC was way overdue a couple of weeks with all the rain we had. Had to raise the deck an 1” to setting 3.0, which puts my Bermuda around 1.5-2”, a little taller than I’d like, but I go by the 1/3 rule, (never cut no more than 1/3 off the grass blade tips to prevent that scalped look). Need new blades, will have to pick some up. Looks like you have a big yard to be pushing it, I use a 50” ExMark Quest residential zero turn mower with the mulch kit for my acre. But that is good exercise!
    I picked up my new 31-gallon tow behind sprayer from Northern Tool and put it together, will calibrate and want to start spraying TNEX PGR. Hoping it will allow me to not have to mow as much, maybe once a week. My problem is my backyard is low and when we get rain, I have to wait for the lawn to dry out so I don’t rut it up w my heavy mower. You need to do a video on PGR. Thanks from Northeast Arkansas.

    It's been so dry my bermuda hasn't been growing much. I've even watered the lawn 3 times this week and it's still struggling. I had to not mow this weekend because of the lack of growth. It gave me a good excuse to introduce my sons to the movie Major Payne today, though.

  • @jabezcreed
    @jabezcreed 2 года назад +2

    I only can mow my Bermuda once a week, so I leave it a little tall and try to stick to the 1/3 or 1/4 rule.

  • @tylerhair9067

    Just keep in mind, you measure your HOC on the concrete but once the mower gets in the lawn, it may sink a little bit lower.

    With how temps are going I’m thinking I’ll use stress blend in a couple weeks instead of getting greedy for green with flagship. I’ve already been stressing it by accidentally scalping it all season until a week ago, and this summer feels like it’ll be brutal

    Changed my HOC to 2 inches (third tab). I mow at least once a week and water every 5 days. How do you water your strips along the sidewalks? Looking at getting at least one of the orbit sprinklers maybe 2. My back yard is 2200 square feet and takes awhile to cover with an oscillating hose end sprinkler. Thanks BYD!
