Leah Tillock, thank you!!! Ive been dying to hear something good like this for so long. Larry Norman forever changed my life with his music and message about Jesus. There is no one like him. I thank God i heard his albums and even got to see him live once. His albums still make me cry with gratitude for the unique way he pointed to Jesus. I look forward to seeing him in heaven. God bless you Leah, for all the time and effort you put into making this video, the friends who knew him, the music clips, the message you left at the end, and the quotes at the finish…..as well as the link to the proof of Larrys innocence to the accusations made after his death. What a horrible thing for a Christian to do to another Christian! Thank you for your time and love with which this video was done despite the fact that you are sick yourself! Love and prayers for you ❤️🙏❤️
Wow! Thank you so much for the detailed thank you! I deeply, deeply, appreciate it. I feel this is something Larry wanted from Heaven and God gave it to him. A real reward for me is I got to know Larry's hand picked friends and back up band. We for the most part are still in contact with each other, he picked kind friends. Follow me on Facebook if you're on there.
Leah, do you think the book WHY SHOULD THE DEVIL HAVE ALL THE GOOD MUSIC by Gregory Thornbury is a true look at Larry’s life , or one to be avoided for untruths about Larry?
I was playing in a Christian rock band called "Word For Word" in about 1995. We went to Gospel Music Week in Nashville. We were actually hoping to talk to some record labels. The guitarist and I met Larry outside a bar, where a punk band was playing one of his songs. We explained why we were there and Larry said the most important thing was to make sure we were doing our music for the right reason, to tell others about Jesus. The guitarist (also named Larry) has since passed away (probably jamming with Larry as we speak) , but I have never forgotten meeting Larry and the advice he gave us. We didn't get a record deal, but many came forward and accepted Christ at our altar calls. The keyboard player went on to become a pastor and I am still writing Christian music and sharing it on my RUclips channel called "The Crossroad Cafe". I am very thankful for Larry and his music. I can't wait to jam with Larry and some of my other friends that have passed on when I get to heaven! As Phil Keaggy said, what a day that will be!
Altar calls at Christian concerts? I didn't know Christian bands still did that. I wished they would. That was a big deal in the 80s---bands like Petra, Res, etc would make those a regular thing. They would have things so organized and a staff like BGEA
@@impalaman9707 It was 1995 when we were doing that. I am not sure how often it's done now. My guess is, not often. I think it should be done. Or at least announce from the stage that if anyone was interested in becoming a Christian the band or others would be available after the concert. It really could be a life changing event, as you know. Good times. It felt like we were doing the most important thing in the world. And we really were!
I'm 61. I literally cried, sobbed, listening again to Larry's albums recently. As a teenager, I'd listened to Larry's albums hundreds of times. Anointed, indeed!
Thank you for producing and posting this. I needed to hear these stories. I had been discouraged with Larry when I saw clips of people saying bad things about him. He and Keith Green were very influential in my "infant" Christian years. ( the early Nineties)
I still listen to & love Larry Norman tunes. “He’s an unidentified flying object (Yashuah) coming back to take us home.” The Lord gifted this child of God and we are blessed to hear what he had to say & sing.
When I was 17 in 1968, I saw Larry perform with the band” the People” in San Jose, California I moved to Washington state in 1972, and became a Christian. I had all his albums. Yes he was a blessing indeed!
I am so grateful I came across this video. It is so good to see & hear such a positive view of my friend Larry. I knew Larry, I met him in 1965 or 66 in Redding CA at a teen club. The band People came to play at Sloopy’s for the first time. My mother was a good friend of the owner of the teen club. The People were just starting out & didn’t even have the funds to stay in a motel, my mother invited three of them to stay at our home, Larry, Gene, & Johnny. The other three stayed at another friend’s home Valerie Charles. After Johnny left the band because he was to young, I believe he was 15, they got another drummer, Denny, then Denny stayed with us, this was the arrangement every time the People came to Redding, which was often. Larry became like a real big brother to me & my brother Danny & little sister Dee. He was part of our family. He wrote me letters all the time, he would send them always without stamps lol. I would go to San Jose & visit him a couple of times. He had become on fire with Jesus, we talked about God & Jesus a lot. Larry truly was a believer & loved Jesus & spreading the gospel was what he lived for. After the People became more & more popular & they didn’t come to Redding as much. He sent me their “I Love You” record. We stayed in contact until the People broke up. I moved to Reno in 1968 & lost contact until 1972. I had gone to Europe & was in England & saw posters of him in business windows & on billboards as I was walking around London & the different little towns, I contacted his dad when I got back to Reno & he gave me Larry’s contact info & I contacted him, he was in LA at home at the Doheny apt then. I was on my way to San Diego, I visited him & Pamela at their Doheny apt & had dinner with them. He gave me a bunch of his records & had a great visit. I had moved to San Diego, from there. I didn’t see him again until he was playing at the San Diego Civic Center in 1976. I was married & had a 2 yr old son then. I went back stage & reunited with Larry, it was awesome, like my big brother had just returned from war or something. Pamela & his band & some other friends were there. I gave him & Pamela a ride to their hotel & we all went out to a very late dinner & we were able to catch up. Then I lost contact again until I went to LA & called them at the Doheny apt & Pamela informed me that she & he were divorced & she was soon to marry Joey. This was devastating to me. She told me her side of the story but I wanted to hear from him, his side. I was invited to Pamela & Joey’s wedding but I didn’t go. I felt like it would be a betrayal to my friend & brother. I didn’t connect with Larry until 1992 or 93. I gone through a bad divorce & envolved with a man after that who was not good for me, & at the time & my brother Danny had seen Larry at a concert in Denver or Utah, can’t remember which state, but he talked to Larry & told Larry what was going on with me, Larry called me from Canada & told me not to do anything until I could see him in LA. He had me come visit him soon after that call. I was so happy to see Brander McDonald in your video! Brander was with Larry when I went to see him in LA. Brander was his helper & his chaperone, he was a sweet man. I looked for Brander when I learned of Larry’s passing but could not find him. During that visit & the next one after that one, Larry told me all about his head injury on the airplane & how it effected him. Most people didn’t understand about this & even after it happened for years Larry didn’t even know. But I saw it first hand, & I could see it, I didn’t understand at first but I figured it out, because I knew Larry would not intentionally hurt anyone for any reason. That injury caused Larry a lot misunderstandings & unfortunate problems. Anyway, he told me not to marry this man. Larry had the gift of discernment, & he was right about that. Larry went on tour again in Europe & I didn’t have contact with him for a long while. I was so captured by this man I did marry him in 1997 & it was a nightmare marriage that lasted 27 horrible years. My husband demanded I severe contact with Larry, he was very jealous of Larry. When I heard two weeks after Larry passed in 2008, I was devastated! I then heard about all the bad press he got from so many places, it was devastating, I went to that Fallen Angel documentary film opening in San Jose & was furious of how the people he once was such great friends with turned on him. Gene even told me he didn’t remember me, as said Denny, I felt the enemy at work in that atmosphere. I knew they were wrong & something was amiss. But there was nothing I could do about it. Thank you so so much for this video, I hope it is seen by many many more people. I know Denny Fridkin did reunite with Larry before his passing. Maybe an interview with him would be good, & also Gene Mason. Gene was Larry’s first really good friend & has probably known Larry the longest. God bless you & provide more wonderful videos & events for you! 🙏❤️🙏❤️
Thank you so very much for sharing so many memories of Larry! Please send me a friends request on Facebook and when we go to do the part 2 of Larry Norman, I will contact you, ty!
Miss Leah, you sound like a very kind and warm individual, I appreciate your kindness and gentleness about Larry Norman. With the advent of the internet, I kinda lost my innocence when it came to Christian music, TMI too much information. I grew up listening to to Larry, I would say he was a dig influence on my Christian world view. I have to realize these artists are human. Back in my younger days I was so idealistic, I am 62 now and too, have a lot of health issues. About a year ago I had a stroke and I'm currently confined to a wheelchair. Your tremendous faith is inspiring..
Wow, thank you so very much! Praying for you, God still has something for you to do on earth. I am in the process of moving the next month and after that, I do plan on doubling down on the interviews for my channel. There were things going on this year that hindered me from doing as many interviews as I regularly do. But, that has ended now and it's in all systems go in about a month. Pls do sub to my channel if you have not already to catch what's coming up. God bless friend! God is enough for us, amen!
thank you for this video. there are a few vids out there that were slamming Larry as soon as he died and It really angered me. those ppl should be ashamed. I grew up listening to Larrys music and Loved him. he was a huge part of my families lives. ❤ so thank you for opening up and shari g your wonderful memories
Thanks Darren. You may also like my interview with Mark Farner the lead singer, guitarist for Grand Funk Railroad. He became a Christian, his interview was good. Plus Tommy James 33 gold singles gave a testimony also how God saved him from the mob, that interview is up also. We may be doing a Larry Norman follow video late next year.
Thank you so much for posting this. Impossible to say how much Larry inspired me when I was new to the faith- genuine and uniquely gifted as a Christian and a musician. After he passed, it was confusing and took awhile to find balanced views on Larry's life and times. This is so welcome. God knows Larry's heart, and now Larry is at home with Him.

I heard they liked it so much that they hung it over their bed. Rest in peace, Larry!
