That's exactly what Adam wanted, appreciation and love from his father.
He even got emotional! 😫
Such a great scene his father was only protective of his son that’s all who can’t feel that and that hug
Good news from the future
Honestly I was afraid his dad was going to get angry but the way he accepted Eric for who he is...it's precious.
This whole scene is so beautiful.
im no...im NOT CRYING OKAY MY EYES ARE SWEATING
yes🥺
I think he always accepted him. He just has experience of being an outsider because of who he is and he doesn’t want his son to go through that pain like he did. So to an extent he understands the struggle that Eric faces
Eric's dad is so caring this scene shows just how much he loves his son
Maybe I am learning from my brave son I loved it
"I think that I'm learning from my brave son". Aw, this was definitely one of the highlights of the show for me. Eric is by far my favourite character, and I hope he gets the happiness he so deserves in the upcoming series!😊
I loved this scene. And I also felt really sad for Adam when he was watching Eric with his Dad.
I agree, I hope that Eric and Adam officially get together in Series 2. You can't help but pity Adam, even though he acts like a tool most of the time!😩
Nah, fuck that. I don’t pity him. I’m tired of this overused trope that abuse victims have to not only forgive their abusers, but develop romantic feelings for them. Nah. This dude threatened to kill him, and we want to root for them to be together?! That’s just nonsense. Boy, bye. I don’t care how hurt Adam is/was. That’s his shit he needs to deal with. He doesn’t have the right to take his anger out on others.
@@Wh0G0neCheckMeB00 people change... he never really threatened him. He was just an immature kid and he’s realizing his mistakes.
True, he just wanted to feel loved by his dad
@@Wh0G0neCheckMeB00 lmfao
I love how Eric's dad never really had a problem with Eric being gay, he was just aware of all the violent homophobs and wanted his son to be safe.
this scene is very heartwarming
Also; I felt really sad for Adam in this scene. You could see the tears forming in his eyes, all he ever wanted was a father who loved him.
That's how i felt too🖤🖤he is a decent parent rarely found
Yesss, they could've have written him as that type of dad but I'm glad they didn't. He genuinely love Eric and doesn't want him to recieve hate.
Exaclty I'm so proud they chose that route, because o exaclty feel where the dad his coming from and been a black person as well there is already that
@@lambohh8172 yeah I’m a black person too
@@AA-qb7ni I’m so glad his father loved Eric for who he is too many times we get that in tv shows and movies the father hates their son for their choices it was so refreshing seeing Eric’s dad love him and wanted him to be safe
What’s great about Eric’s dad is he was never ashamed of Eric being gay, nor did he disapprove it, or even hated it. He was afraid of how others would treat him, being just that, a protective father. He wants his son to be happy and be the man he wants to be, no matter who he likes or how he dresses, while also wanting him to be safe.
That’s support at its finest.
Spoke volumes of Eric’s dad saying maybe I’m learning from my brave son
I honestly think this portrays black immigrants so well. They want to fit in and not offend anyone, because they have been hurt and told they are worth lesser than. Eric’s father is scared of his sons strength because it makes him a target. But we can only rise above our circumstances by challenging them. And that is what Eric is teaching his dad.
Very well said!
I would add that is not only black immigrants, it's immigrant in general. We get used to be looked down on, been paid less, doing the jobs the locals don't want to do (and doing them with love) and mocked because of this. Fighting hard to get an education, to be able to aim higher. This man had to keep his head down in order to fit in, he must be scared as hell to see that all his work paid off.
*"Maybe i'm learning from my brave son"*
Eric's dad
comprehension is such an incredible example here. I was so happy for both of them but also kinda sad for Adam. Powerful scene.
Because Adam wanted that from his own dad and what son doesn’t want that
“ I TOLD YOU TO WAIT” LoL
Poor Adam can’t hold the tears, even when he’s trying to bully Eric.
The power in this clip
Eric’s dad is the best parent in the show, change my mind.
Eric's dad is just simply amazing. I always admired for how he accepted Eric for who he was despite how his community frowned upon it.
Such a powerful scene. More messages like this need to be conveyed.
he’s so iconic
I was expecting his dad say "why are you geh?"

Eric's dad is a shining example was what a parent should be, someone who Loves and wants to protect their children no matter what,he knows what's its like to be the odd one out and he just wants Eric's happiness and safety
His makeup tho 😍
I rewatched the first season in prep for the second, and I forgot how touching this moment between Eric and his dad was. Made even greater by Eric’s redeemed self confidence when he stands up to Adam.
At first I thought Eric's dad was v brittle but he's a good, caring person who loves his son, and its v moving
One of the best scenes from the season !!
Can't wait for more Eric x Adam romance in season 2!
This must be guaranteed if Netflix hearted you!
NETFLIX LIKED AARGH! ITS A SIGN!
God no. Eric deserves so much better.
Teresa Dedos definitely agree after Adam bullied him so much for no reason idk still.
Teresa Dedos IKR
Eric deserves a new pair
I am Nigerian, and just realizing they're Nigerian and this feels a little too close to home. But the sad part is, if one of my siblings were gay my parents would disown them
And so they should
@@blank1933 so do your parents to you, too
@@blank1933 obvious bait is obvious.
@@blank1933 they should disown you
Nigerians don't take mental health seriously. And that's a serious problem.
Looking at Adam makes me cry, we relate so much..
I love how this show shows that people can lift each other up. Especially with the arc of aimee being harassed, and showing how supportive the officers were; or Eric’s dad being supportive of him being gay. It’s very heartwarming
This moment is so powerful. So heartwarming.
“Im gonna fucking kill you.” At this point in the series I hated Adam so much, but the tiny tremble in his voice got to me a little. 1:58
DUDE I THOUGHT IT WAS A TEASER
me 2
Same
I loved the dad. He is genuinely a good persoon and is just scared of all the homophobes out there, rather than being a homophobe himself. It's just too bad he kind of disappeared in the later seasons. He's mentioned so he is supposed to be around, you just don't see him anymore.
I cried during this scene
Julie Ross same, I deadset shed a tear, such a beautiful moment
I loove Eric's outfit 😍 here.
Independent. Confident. Abundance. Bravery. Authencity. Etc etcetera.
His Nigerian ancestors will be very proud of him.
His ancestors proud? They would be ashamed let's be honest.
Lol, they would most certainly not be, let’s be honest🤣
Man I love every character in the show. They all have realistic and relatable backstories and this show is SO important. Wow.
Holy shit Eric looks really beautiful ok ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Love the line "Maybe I'm learning from my brave son". It always touch me so much.
One of the best scenes I have ever seen. That dad's character is written in such a cliche breaking way. Having lived in such a traditional way and accepting his son for who he was makes this character the best dad in the series. Jst my personal opinion
I hate how eric's dad was just written out of the show
right? with no explanation too
I felt so touched after seeing Adam like this😢 He represents the attention a boy needs from his father
I’m so happy for them. I know it’s hard to take in but they’ll get through it eventually.
Eric's father was real gem his advices are really helpful in real life
I'm so proud op Eric to do this. He was so badass against Adam. I love Eric!
I hope otis will be in relationship with maeve and eric will be in relationship with adam
"So later then" Man the confidence no wonder Adam was swooning !!!!
I like Eric's father.
He deserves to be a father.
Anyone else hear his heels and is absolutely curious to see a pan of the whole outfit? I mean, his eye makeup, oh my goddddd
Eric's Dad is such a kind man.
Kind? Yes. Intense? Definitely.
I wish Eric's father had more screen time in the show.
Absolutely loved this scene Eric’s father was caring and protective I thought he was disappointed in Eric but he was totally the opposite and that hug and saying I just want you be happy and safe
this scene is just. Beautiful
Wish my mother was as accepting. What ended up was a lifelong battle of toxicity, psychological pain, and suicide attempts.
Sorry to hear that i hope you are doing well 😢😊
I cried at this
This is my favorite scene😍😍
How marvelous😍😘♥️
Best dad ever.
Ok but can all My Nigerians agree that´s not how you tie a gale......
Definitely not standard for most of the ethnicities I’ve seen in Nigeria, although it does give off young auntie vibes
This was the the scene that made me think "that's the doctor"
Into the top 3 scenes of the whole series
I feel for Adam. It doesn’t make what he put Eric through right, but Eric is everything Adam wants to be. He wants to be out and happy, he wants a better relationship with his father, and he wants a loving support system like Eric has.
Edit: oh, and Adam had a crush on Eric, lol.
1:36 GEEZUS I love ❤️ 😍 their 🫂 hugs. 😢 😭.

Dad: when I first came to this country...
Eric: Oh God here we go again
Lol
Eric is the best in this show.
only eric will complete what adam lacks, and it's genuine love
🎵"I am who I am..."🎵
i love this scene so much
This is one of my favourite tv scenes ever ~ a straight white man
So much love ❤️
I'll be hurt all the way. Isn't it better to be who I am?
Mi escena favorita siempre. Aún me dan ganas de llorar cuando la veo 💕
For people asking where the dad is....I think the writers wanted to go in a different direction and just didn't cast him back OR he wasn't available due to scheduling. I'm leaning towards the first option. If it was the first option, I don't understand why they wouldn't explore their relationship more. Makes zero sense.
The actor of Eric's dad appeared in Marvel Studios' Loki Season 1. His scenes there aired in July.
@@foxeswozere Yeah, but still it doesn't explain his absence in this show for 2 seasons. 2 badass seasons! haha
@@Istoppedaging yeah. They really need a good explanation in S4 to why he disappeared 😩😔
