It took my car dealership 3 hrs of labor to tell me why the console armrest heater didn’t work, it was a bad arm rest heater element 😳. Two days later took another 3 hrs to put the new one in. Oh I forgot, included programming time. Peterbilt’s 6 hr seems like a bargain.

Without people like him, there would be no economy. And i wish i could find somebody like you to teach me the oldskool things, i was going to look for work, talked to the boss while walking around in the shop, the mechanic did something and i saw it, told him that he was putting it on wrong and gave him a trick to make it easier, i did not get the job, few days later i walked into the mechanic, he tells me they hired somebody (while they did not need anybody), a guy who has a diploma, but has 0 experience, i am the exact same age as the guy, he has a diploma, i don't, i have showed theyre mechanic a trick, the other guy did not now anything, why did i not get a chance, im not giving up it's like a bolt that is stuck its love and hate but you aint stoppin till that sucker comes off anyway, dont judge a book by its cover or look at the backside to see whats the story about, you are a good man and i wish you the best of luck, sorry for my wining its because of my massive balls, stay save people

Hey there Warren. Pretty impressed with that ISX, 900,000 miles and the internals look like an engine with half that many miles. I expected a lot more wear on those bearings and when you said the cross hatch still looked good, I had to rewind and hear that again. Lol.
I knew the head gasket let go as soon as the engine pushed back when you turned the key, definitely no mistaking that sound. Always enjoy your thought process when you are working out the problem. I'm glad I'm not the only one who talks to himself sortin things out. Lol

Hell, CPS has had my truck 5-weeks now. Three of those weeks was spent diagnosing and the past two weeks searching for a new head for my non-egr DDEC-4 Series 60. Supposedly it shipped yesterday Friday May 21st and should arrive to CPS Mon-Wed of next week. Sadly for me, it was CPS who caused the damage to my limited production engine when another of their shops rebuilt my engine 5-yrs ago, installing the head gasket upside down. After 4-months, they rebuilt it a second time with a damaged cylinder head but didn't tell me and I've been driving it like that for 5-years now. That shop closed its doors in 2019. This past February I had the current shop replace the 19-year old fuel injectors. Immediately after installing the six-pack, the engine had starting problems which it's never had, and blowing white clouds out the exhaust stack for the first 3 seconds after starting but would clear up. Six weeks ago while at a customer location making a delivery, I came out and discovered anti-freeze all over the ground coming from coolant tank overflow. I put it in CPS shop and they've had it ever since. They say the fire deck is pitted and grooved out from the firing rings. They informed me that because of the length of time, they won't make right the damage initiated by their other shop and once they get it back on the road, I'll have to cough up $8k-$10k for the full repair. Just can't win in this hobby. Thank goodness mine didn't hydro-lock or else I'd be out of business. I've spent over $20k having that engine rebuilt top to bottom just to almost lose it because of a stupid mistake they made. These are certified Detroit Diesel facilities and they still screwed up.

This may or may not affect Warren but there are many businesses around the country right now that are suffering due to not being able to get anyone to come and work for them. diagnosis.........bubbles,pressure in the cooling system (air system is normal) its a no brainer blown head gasket or cracked head. Sometimes it will only be when the engine is hot because a crack in the head needs heat to expand and manifest itself. When it wont crank on a good battery its water in the cylinder. dont need 6 hours to figure that out. best thing is rip the head/s off and get them crack tested......look for any other causes. If there is a ridge in the top of cylinder liner its water present during combustion causing a huge pressure spike shoving the piston sideways and potentially failing the head gasket etc. Reminds of the Kenworth dealer at dubbo NSW Australia............had a Kenworth come in with a low power issue. They hooked up the scan tool, test drove, mucked around for 2 days...........all it was in the end was a split hose between the turbo and intercooler. Freakin dumbasses. That truck is a credit to its owner for 900,000 miles ))

I had one of those 300 Renault Mack 3 tons that half the head bolts on it were rusted into the heads and snapped. It took days with welding, torch, oil, impact, blood, and sweat to get them all out of the block. They used some paired head bolts between the heads. The top of the engine deck was so heavily corroded I needed to use high temp silicone to fill in all the pitting from rust or the head gasket wouldn't have kept the coolant in it. What a whacked piece of "engineering" those are.

Fun watching the kids opening presents on Christmas morning. Pretty cool, Warren. Good job on the Pete.

I understand why the Peterbuilt dealer told the customer that it could take up to 6hrs to diagnose. Like Warren said; there’s some real asswipes that’ll use one shop to diagnose and a cheaper shop to fix after it’s been diagnosed. The 6hr quote was their attempt to weed out tire kickers. Not taking up for the dealerships but I’ve seen plenty of shady ass customers over my career.
