There's actually tons of mesh holes in Yharnam. I believe there's one on the staircase or another one before you reach Gascoigne's arena. Its mostly staircases that haven't been alligned correctly where you can see the map underneath if you position the camera correctly. Also the big ass hole in you look through a window in Caste Cainhurst, it was on a bridge I believe.
I think Elden Ring uses a lot more POM than the other games. It also looks less "shiny" than previous titles like From figured out not everything needs a glossy coat of wax lol
It takes time figuring out how materials ACTUALLY work. There's still people that believe a subtle looking normal map is a bad one & everything needs to have super deep defined normals (making smooth surfaces have grainy bumps & bits on them). 😬
There is a window/wall in old Yarnam (Or whatever the place with the warewolves are, and that gattling chain guy is) where the normals are the wrong way around in a tower. Shit has bugged me since playing the game shortly after it released... (As far as I am aware, they never fixed it.)
This is amazing man. Im gonna be following closely the bloodborne mod developments. Well I do need some other creators too I love this. WE FINALLY HAVE SONY BY THE BALLS
Thanks for your dives into moding Bloodborne. It really helps understand the undeling engine and how things are stiched together. I have a quick question thou. How can you see textures inside Smithbox? All I can see are normal maps. xD
They also seem to have issues with normal maps and vertex normal on a lot of their objects...Could be flipped normals? You can best see it in your "Bloodborne PC now has fully dynamic lighting!" video at 2:41 on those boxes. See how blobby they look? It's a telltale sign that something is messed with normals. A lot of the 3d modeled bricks also have it, you can see it at the start of this video on stairs - shading is blobby and kinda off. It's something that I noticed in DS3 as well. Maybe worth investigating since you're going in so deep lol
If you are set on fixing all the mesh holes, I don’t think you'll be finished before the end of that year. I don't think I have ever seen a game having as many of them as Bloodborne. That and all the clipping, popping and texture discontinuity. Old Yharnam will be particularly challenging I think.
yep displacement maps are commonly used for that, but in Bloodborne's case, when it has used parallax occlusion mapping, it actually slots in the heightmap into the blue channel of the normal map.
gotta fix the random holes and seems in the geometry, it's even worse in bloodborne than in ds2. right past the old woman's door in Central yarnham, if you look down on that little bridge you can see the whole sky box through the ground. but I'm sure you already know this. I just don't have the time to watch all the footage
I'd hop into the shadps4 discord and they can link you builds of the emulator that might work better. I'm using a deadlock fix specific one from over a week ago, but there's plenty of current ones that are stable for most builds, aside from vertex explosions and occasional slowdown that's pretty bad
@@fromsoftserve yeah alright I got one but when I go into certain areas my GPU usage goes to 0 and FPS very low if I'm lucky I won't crash but if I'm not I crash

It's just so cool to watch the process of this, friggin love to see it.
There's a mesh hole between the first wall you fixed and the brick pillar on the right. You can see it at 8:21

I love the blinding light refraction everytime the moonlight hits water in Bloodborne
That coat of wax was massively responsible for DS3 looking so bleh imo.

Strange oversight, I guess it could've been an optimisation thing but I don't think bump and specular is very costly at all
You mentioning that DS1 never used the ShininessTexture slot makes me curious what Bloodborne would look like if you stripped them all out.

Shad sounds like chad🗿🗿
I wonder if these choices were to better adhere to the PS4 hardware.
I see a lot of "mesh hole" in many games, and I'm curious what's the cause of such effect/thing?
what's the best build youd go with as of right now and can you post a link?
I spent the entire weekend trying to get this game to run in shad just to realize the CUSA00900 version of this game doesn’t run on emulator 😔
the Displacement maybe use for height information, that use for parallax occlusion in shader if the game has that kind of feature..
yep displacement maps are commonly used for that, but in Bloodborne's case, when it has used parallax occlusion mapping, it actually slots in the heightmap into the blue channel of the normal map.

Yup, Bloodborne is full of holes, not necessarily remarkable at first, but once you're acquainted with the game it's really jarring.
what mods do you personally wish for assuming you finish all the lighting and texture stuff you like? anything gameplay related?
I think if someone put fsr frame generation on it that would be great.
Hey, can you please tell me which version of ShadPS4 you're using?
so is it possible to play bloodborne right now from start to finish?
I still have the gray and too bright screen, sad.
Do you still have it after using the mod that fixes it ? Because in my case i had it but it was gone after installing the mod
huh, so bump is normal and displacement is what, POM?
Can this fixup be automated?
I wonder how many other textures in this game have such problems, what do you think?
So what's the deal with blood on character? why is it black
Is this the only example in the game with that problem?
This wasn't under 10 mins, I want a refund !
Is it just me or does that wall look exactly the same as before even with all the maps applied?
just you
