Big day! Somewhere between the implosion of both logging and mining in Northern Idaho make for an almost a wide open Appalachia feel for the communities there. Moscow is one of the fastest communities in the West making a huge contrast against that decline. This mornings opening was a lesson in primitive public sanitation. When biking, I often take my potty kit in with me to mitigate the surprises. So much for an alpine start to my morning when your story popped up. Way worth it!
Those bees were probably splitting from the main hive and looking for a new home. I never experienced anything like that on my bike tour but we were having bees hives where I was growing up. Cool video. Great episode 🙂👍
One of the coolest experiences I've ever had on my road bike, I was going down a hill at around 20 mph when a whole swarm of bees came up along side from my right, then literally engulfed me, and continued to match my pace. I was able to reach up and just tap some with my finger while they flew next to me. They never showed any aggression or even land on me. They stuck with me for over a half mile and then turned and went to my left and disappeared.
Quite an interesting ride. I will never look at public toilets the same "sweaty butts"🤪 NEVER sit too gross. Your breakfast looked yummy especially the pie. $2.36 for regular gas - a distant memory; we are around $3.50. Makes you plan ahead before you head out on your day. I am loving these cute little stores, Zolis was so sweet and the pastry yum! I wonder what the swarms of bees are all about. Maybe you're right they are all gathering for an "evening cocktail party". One day I may be brave enough to stay at a warm shower although I wouldn't hold your breath!🥰

Six minutes in is the sketchy section which I want to say lasted for an hour or less. Maybe you want to time it during a quieter time in the day like the morning and consider taking the paneer off on the side that’s in the road and rest it on your handlebars. May be a bit helpful for when you get two trucks passing at the same time. There’s really no where for anyone to go as you can see in the footage the part I animated. And - ABSOLUTELY - you can do it! You can also Google Drive from Google maps. I do that when I rent places to get an idea of the neighborhood. 🤣🤣🤣 and if you need a place to stay, I know Cindi in Moscow would love to have you.

When I did long-distance bicycling tours I had to use public restrooms very often. I'd carry a small spray bottle of 91% isopropyl alcohol. Spray the seat and wipe it off with paper.
I have both Apple and Samsung cell phones, actually 5 cell phones, 2 tablets, and 3 computers in my camper Van, and I also run both Apple Maps and Google Maps, and hands down prefer and use more often Google Maps, primarily for location sharing so my sons can always see me wherever I;m at as I roam around the 11 western states, and also I usually have a couple of friends caravan'ing with me and its easier for them to always see where I'm at live and just click directions straight to me. I also always pre-download large map areas long before I get into those areas with remote areas so I always have a digital map. I also have paper maps but usually only for backup and rarely use since you can pre-download complete google maps areas..
Hello ! I am planing a bike trip this may-june. From Portland, Columbia gorge, Lewiston, Coeur d'Alene trail, Missoula, Glacier national park, and to Norh Dakota. Your videos have been very helpfull thanks ! I am a bit concern about the traffic and the lanes (shoulders on the 95 Between Moscow and Plummer. Can you tell me how it was over all. ?? There seems to be a stretch before Tensed with barely no shoulders. Merci beaucoup and have a great summer ! (i plan to do Potlatch- Chatcolet state park in one day.

Barely a shoulder. If you watch those videos in order of that section and let me know which title (episode) it is I can be more specific. I'm super comfortable with trucks going by and very aware if one is approaching. I get over knowing one can also be behind me as well as with wide trailers. Everyone was respectful but as long as the rider stays aware and is respectful of their feelings on squeezing by a cyclist. I also did not have panniers sticking out on the sides. Oh...and if you find the video you'd like me to expand on...it may be best to make it a new comment so YT alerts me. Often times when it's a reply from an original comment I don't get alerted.

Ah... The joys of public toilets. Now I'm a guy so I don't have to go to this ritual as often as you gals. But when dooty calls I always carry in my fannypack 2 plastic Ziploc bags-one has baby wipes the other Clorox disinfecting wipes. So I basically sanitize the entire top lid and seat before I perch with the disinfecting wipes. The baby wipes come in handy if it is a long hot ride and I want to treat my undercarriage especially if I'm going to apply more chamois cream. Plus they can be used at camp for quick cleanups if no other sources are available. Just be sure to label each bag CLEARLY! :)

11:30 *Google maps* So you can actually download areas from Google maps to use offline. It's a really cool feature I use prior to hiking/ biking in areas I know I won't have service

Have ridden this trail numerous times. One of only a few rural trails that is paved. Another good one is between Cranbrook & Kimberley just north in British Columbia. I made video of it. Search You Tube with my name and words North Star Trail or Cranbrook Kimberley. Happy riding.
If you come to South Florida you can couch surf right here. Actually it would not be a couch. It would be a nice comfortable double bed all to yourself.
@@HumanontheLoose that's okay. Just so you know. I rarely if ever extend such an invitation. I have a sort of membership with warm showers. Nobody has stayed here yet. One person contacted me and wanted to but I was getting ready to take off on a bicycling trip of my own at the same time. The cyclist said I was the only one or the only one of a very few out of many he contacted who even took the trouble to answer him. So I'm not so sure how efficacious it is to contact warm showers for a place to Rack out for a day or two. I think a woman would have a much better chance than a man of contacting somebody on warm showers and getting a place to rest. I don't know because I never contacted anybody to use warm showers for myself.

Ah... The joys of public toilets. Now I'm a guy so I don't have to go to this ritual as often as you gals. But when dooty calls I always carry in my fannypack 2 plastic Ziploc bags-one has baby wipes the other Clorox disinfecting wipes. So I basically sanitize the entire top lid and seat before I perch with the disinfecting wipes. The baby wipes come in handy if it is a long hot ride and I want to treat my undercarriage especially if I'm going to apply more chamois cream. Plus they can be used at camp for quick cleanups if no other sources are available. Just be sure to label each bag CLEARLY! :)

So you can actually download areas from Google maps to use offline. It's a really cool feature I use prior to hiking/ biking in areas I know I won't have service

Have ridden this trail numerous times. One of only a few rural trails that is paved. Another good one is between Cranbrook & Kimberley just north in British Columbia. I made video of it. Search You Tube with my name and words North Star Trail or Cranbrook Kimberley. Happy riding.

@@HumanontheLoose that's okay. Just so you know. I rarely if ever extend such an invitation. I have a sort of membership with warm showers. Nobody has stayed here yet. One person contacted me and wanted to but I was getting ready to take off on a bicycling trip of my own at the same time. The cyclist said I was the only one or the only one of a very few out of many he contacted who even took the trouble to answer him. So I'm not so sure how efficacious it is to contact warm showers for a place to Rack out for a day or two. I think a woman would have a much better chance than a man of contacting somebody on warm showers and getting a place to rest. I don't know because I never contacted anybody to use warm showers for myself.
