    Thanks for another entertaining and informative video. Always like seeing how people pack their bikes.
    Slogging your bike through the marshy grass. WOW.
    Here's a suggestion to solve the front shock problem. Switch to Wren inverted front shocks. The piston is at the bottom and won't interfere with your cables or bags. They are easy to fine tune. A little spendy, worth it.
    Thanks for sharing your adventures

    Thanks for the video again. You would make a fantastic video story teller of/for the Tour Divide if you ever decided to ride it. You would be a great person to chat with all the other riders as you also participate in the action. Because you are such a good communicator you may be able to get sponsored to do it. Cheers!!!

      Gosh…thank you for sharing such kind words Josh!! Season One I was on the Tour Divide from Ovando, MT (side trip to Glacier National Park) up to Eureka, MT but it was a last minute decision to veer off my original path and I rarely saw bikepackers and no backpackers. Although my mindset has moved on to other trails since that one is so common being sponsored would be a mind changer!

    Love your channel and the tips you give along the way are very useful. Is there a chance you could let us know what model of iphone you use for filming. I have tried GoPro and all of that but got so fed up with the messing around with the all controls on it and the weight on the handlebars along with carrying an iPhone is a pain. So the concept you use for filming your trips on your iphone is something I am going to do filming my rides moving forward.

    • @HumanontheLoose
      @HumanontheLoose  2 года назад

      YAY!! 👏 💃 You mean what I show people what NOT TO DO!! 😂 Let's see...I think it's in the video description as I can't remember...let me think...oh wait...you want this trip. So Season One I had the iPhone 12 Pro Max. If you watch a video I don't think you'll be able to tell the difference. This trip - Season Two I have the iPhone 13 Pro Max. Funny about the GoPro. I've owned one for years but am so dang lazy I never wanted to use it. Then seeing how well the iPhone captured and since I wasn't making videos FOR YT but rather for myself I'm sharing - the iPhone worked beautifully. Anyways...go watch some of Season One. If you can't see a difference there is not reason for the 13 but if money is not problem you may want to wait for the 14 as I feel like it has some camera upgrades.

    Food for thought. And this is coming from a veteran LBS mechanic and a life long bike touring and packing enthusiast. That rack style (beam) is not recommended for off-roading...especially on a full squish bike with a dropper post...even from the respectable brands. The only way it didn't move, sway, and/or change your center of gravity is if you walked any "black diamond" rough sections. Whether you like it or not, with this youtube channel, you are now an ambassador to bikepacking...SAFE bikepacking for others looking to you for inspiration. You are promoting what you use and even though the shelf liner hack is a good one (been around a while), the rack is not. Your video also shows one of the clamping nylock nuts loose during one of the close ups. Like I mentioned...food for thought.

    • @HumanontheLoose
      @HumanontheLoose  2 года назад +1

      Nice resume!!! 👊
      Absolutely walk and ride black diamond sections.
      Would I have the same setup it if I knew my trip consisted of primarily rough singletrack?
      Of course not.
      But it ended up keeping up flawlessly with my random change of plans and risk taking nature.
      Sounds like you aren't really a viewer as those who watch my channel quickly grasp I'm just having a blast out there winging it and my safety is only ruled by rules which are...ummm...none!!
      They quickly learn I am not the channel to watch for bikepacking lessons. I just share my choices once in a rare while. Whoever CHOOSES to ONLY watch my channel for how to bikepack has bigger life issues than bikepacking and should probably not leave their house. 😂 😂 😂

    • @justpedal65
      @justpedal65 2 года назад

      @@HumanontheLoose I get the essence of your channel and your certain "aloof" (unconcerned) ambience is not lost on me. However, when the Amazon page clearly states a warning that this rack is not for full suspension bikes, then your promotion of it goes beyond your risk taking and winging it persona...even if you were riding pavement. Those folks that "should" stay in the house, as you put it, COULD be influenced to try this dangerous set-up. Even though it may not have swayed or moved on you. The height above your rear triangle creates a "top heavy" situation, because it changes the center of gravity on the bike...this coupled with the potential to sway makes it unsafe. Regardless of your videos wandering and random sensibility, you are still in this type of adventure to inspire. Are you not? And with this, you need a foundation of knowledge about the intent and limits of your equipment. You can do ALL...be a risk taker and be random, have knowledge, and also promote safety. The Adventure Cycling Assoc. has really good "Educational" rides throughout the year, in different parts of the country, where you learn how to be a ride leader (in essence...that's what you are, whether you like it or not). And btw, the dripping sarcasm with the fist bump was not lost on me either. 😊
