Mayuko's hair is so smooth tho haha adds to the aesthetic
@YoshiPeach Mario genes
She looks stunning in this video.
Yo I'm glad I'm not the only one who was thinking that the whole time lol
The ambience you get in your video settings is so nice, I learn a lot just by watching your filmmaking ❤️
Ok, I just want to take the time to just say this channel is just a great vibe, especially this video. From the camera angle, the way it's on the table across from you and the candle in the living room. It feels like I'm sitting down and having a conversation with u. And to the music choice in the background, it's just all chill. U really is a great vibe.
Sitting on the floor Q&A feels so personal!
Thanks Mayuko! It's been a difficult road to my career change but I always feel comforted when I swing by your channel.
You got this! Sending energy!
I'm so glad that I found your channel! I can't begin to tell you how nice it is to hear another software developer talk about the industry in a way that resonates with me so much.
Wow! I just went through a whole 21 minutes of this video, really helpful to have someone who's practically a veteran share some industry knowledge. Thank you @Mayuko
Love the living room setup, looks comfy haha. Also looking forward to the podcast!
Just listened to the podcast and it was fantastic. The production value is stellar! It'll be in my regular rotation now.
Hey Mayuko, great to see you back. Your opinions always seem genuine to me
You continue to be my inspiration in the developer world and an ideal role model for being in tech and advocating for the importance of mental health. You're awesome.
Dude, you’re awesome. Thanks for saying that.
Wow I subbed when you had 54k, my how much your channel has grown 😊 I'm happy to stop by and see that you're still making videos!
I love that you go to great lengths to connect with your audience. Trying to answer all of our questions and going through the comments. There's originality in your thoughts and ideas, you don't just try to copy what's popular. Plus you've a great sense of humor. You're doing a great job. All the best, keep going 😃😃
You are so kind 🥰 thank you so much for this.
All your hard work pays off, your stunningly amazing. Keep inspiring.
Thank you for talking about things that not many developers talk. There are no wrong or right way to be in software.
Great to hear from you again. Thanks for the checkup!
Thank you for the video Mayuko! ✌️
Love your videos, Mayuko!!
Very nice background music. Made for an enjoyable few minutes. Congrats on all the new ventures! (Guests were great!!!)
Fantastic insight in tech.
No pressure talk.
Well done!!!
Yoooo Mayuko hi! Cant wait to get home to watch this :( my earphones broke and im at work. I was thinking about your channel since i may start learning how to code soon. Excited as hell to see where it takes me.
Yay! I'm excited too! Best of luck ❤️
@@hellomayuko thank you!
@@Adi-pw1ed I am going to do Python First and Maybe Ruby
@@Adi-pw1ed hmm lol i was trying to learn on my own lol but i suck , so i think im looking for a online course, i also hear this other you tuber does really good videos i need to look up the name in my notes
@@Adi-pw1ed Thank you for that info, and noted :) . No it is " sentdex " recommended by my coding friend that already made it up there :)
Hey everyone, welcome to coffee time with Mayuko. You're watching Mayuko, with your host, Mayuko.
Hey Mayuko, just wanted to say you’re amazing at what you do
this channel has been my inspiration to overcome my anxiety and start a programming youtube channel.......
Al1stairS bro go for it, I’ll watch your videos 🦾
Good to see u back mayuko, gonna checkout the podcast :)
Watched your hosted crash course , thnkx for sharing , they are awesome :) , will share them with my community
Great topic! Lived in San Cruz for 2 years. There's so much to do in Silicon Valley like Standford U, Giants Baseball, Warriors, and Tech friendly services. The 49niners are Good and "new" Levis Stadium. Thank You!
Every time i feel down and sad i just watch ur vid..never had elder sister..never know how it feel...just imagine u as my sister...love when u smile n being positive...make me feel positive too...thanks : )
It feels so good to hear someone else talk in such a down to earth way about tech. I'm working on a BS in Computer Science and I chose the field because of what I could do with the skills, not because of a huge passion for the code itself. Sometimes it feels like I'm the only one.
Oof, i feel ya. I’m glad I’m not the only one feeling this way either, friend ❤️
The podcast... I love it. Daaamnn....
Very nice and chill vid. Your answers were really interesting as they were pretty deep and philosophical (especially opposed to other tech channels).
Yes! Please do another one!
Good Q&A. It was interesting to see your thoughts on certain topics, thank you.
This is such a cozy video!
You've probs heard this b4, but definetly look into UX design / UX engineering to bring together your logical and creative sides, with a focus on people.
@@johndoo5 explore the AJ&Smart YT channel. Also Google UX engineer / prototyper.
Just listened to your first podcast episode and it helped me a lot as I am also in the middle of the career change process to become a SWE. If they don't mind, I would like to know more about Ray and Scott's boot camp experiences and how their career change processes looked like. Keep up the good work and thank you!
OMG Xanga, haven't heard that name in a while. Oh the good ol times.
I think it’s incredible you’ve got like 80 videos and you already have a QUARTER OF A MILLION SUBS! O.O
You MUST do a video on how you’ve done it. :)
Congrats!
She's a female software engineer on RUclips. That pretty much sells itself.
But then there's more. She talks about relevant topics to the target audience, has good diction and storytelling skills, doesn't sugarcoat and oversell herself, tells it as it is and you have a full package.
Mayuko!!!! U have been missed and.... Heck yea I'm going to listen to ur podcast....
mayuko your hair is such goals :D
This channel is so cool👌. I'm almost done with my masters and am still orienting on what I want to do for a job. I think your videos will be really inspiring.😁
I like the abbreviation of swes = SoftWare EngineerS. And I'm glad to know your husband and brother are also SWEs :) (I definitely want to see the two interesting people in your video more often!)
(FYI: some parts of the questions were not really covered and still readable.)
Excellent!
Very nice fam collab..!!!
Thanks for your intuitive contributions....
Mayuko is the best!
Thanks for your video!
Very enlightening about Bay Area.
I always watch your videos Ma'am Mayuko. 😊😊
I really like it. 😊😊
For me mayuko = inspiration
I'm doing freelance video/media productions with an aim at weddings and commercial work. I thought about coding for a LONG time while I was in the military but I think I have a talent better suited for photography and video. Being honest with myself told me that I wouldn't enjoy living in the city and would burn out from working in a large company with little freedom of location, who I work with and projects. Do what you love Mayuko!
11:12 Agree 1000%
I had to stop the video to make me a cup of coffee to watch this in style ;-)
omg I can't focus on your words you are so so prettyyyy!💜💜💜😍
Oh cool, youtube just recommended your channel to me. New podcast to boot too :D
love your brother! can you do more videos include him about ux design? i just graduated and thinking about career paths, i didnt study cs, he can definitely give some insights about it.
i will surely be there for the first episode of crash course up to the very very last if there is! :)
Thank you mayuko very cool.
16:20 if she still codes lol..
Lol, clearly the RUclips revenue isn't enough to pay for her rent in Silicon Valley yet.
Like your podcast! It’s really informative, and all those considerations over the debate also apply to other field if you consider to pursue higher degree after working in the same field for years.
she has a podcast and a RUclips channel and works 40 hours a week coding? wow
I'm not even into coding lol, I am going to work in healthcare but she is so chill, geniune and down to earth that I couldn't help but subscribe.
I want more Ray!
Oct is my fav month too lol
This is so cool Mayuko, congrats on the podcast and the Microsoft show!! As an old-head tech guy it's cool to see the new ways it's being explained. I just recently threw away an old Java book 🤣
Thank you Jason!!!
@@mortalzeus6519hahah right. That would be unfortunate. I'm trying to declutter. Deitel and Deitel shall not pass!!

Lovely sound, 15:50 :)
Good Morning,
I recently discovered your channel and have to say I am really enjoying the content. This Q & A was insightful and I would love to see more of them. I enjoyed seeing your day in the life/vlog content as well. I am considering a change in career/business and tech is one of the fields I'd love to expand my expertise in :-)
Mayukooo 😍 i live scott too ❤️
She’s sooo pretty ❤️❤️❤️
I miss really your vlog 😊😊😊
duh jadi love sama kak mayuko
Ur awesome😭😭😭
Genius dude indeed
1:50 I would have also called it "if/else" instead of "Switch/case"
Misassumption, a switch case is not an if-else statement. It actually works with a lookup table. Compare your compiled code of an if-else to one of a switch-statement and you'll see that the switch statement includes a range check (for the highest case) and a lookup to see where to jump for each case.
@@133769 Most compilers can and will optimise certain if-else statements to a jump table when and wherever it can, though.
I get omgawwwwd

What about ?:
Woo!! You are like a beacon to my path 🙃
I LOVE U MAYUKO :*
If you move to Bay Area (or NYC) right out of college in tech, you can live cheap, save a bunch of money for 5-15 years, then relocate to somewhere cheap or mid-range.
I love you Mayuko
What's the most difficult part of being a coder?
She is glowing
This video was max cozy autumn vibes. Thank you Mayuko!
I live in the silicon valley and it feels like unless you were a CS major or went to a major Bootcamp and got a referral, it's getting harder and harder to land a full-time software engineering role. I graduated from college but wasn't a CS major, the job market is rough for people in this situation. They always say the available jobs are increasing, but they're looking for really "highly qualified", meaning CS Majors with great work experience. Don't have either, so honestly considering relocating at this point.
There is always the posibility to start something original from scratch while you wait on your big break, and who knows it might turn into something fulltime :) what skills do you have? From another curious programmer
Have you considered a second bachelors? Oregon state has a pretty good opportunity for second bachelors in comp sci and its all for flexibility sake.
@@0dyss3us51 Mainly know Python/Django/Flask, I've done a couple basic projects in React (MERN stack).
At medium size startup are more than likely to hire someone with software skills regardless. If startups aren't your thing then why do freelancing? There are plenty of jobs and people online willing to hire people and pay them to do software stuff like python, Java, C++, etc. You can do this to help keep an income flowing through until you hear a call back while sitting in your pajamas.
I don't see anything wrong with that per se. If you wanted to get a real job in hard engineering (meche, ee, cheme etc), most companies won't take you seriously unless you have at least a bachelor's degree in engineering. You sure won't convince them that you have sufficient engineering mathematics knowledge by doing some bootcamps and/or online classes because, in most cases, the academic rigor at a university level is just far far superior to these sources. Both software engineering and "hard" engineering requires a lot of academic rigor to get the foundations down and sure some smart people can figure it out, but, for most average Joe and Jane, few months of bootcamp is hardly a replacement for university education.
Love the video! Btw whats the song at the beginning??
hi mayuko, i'm student majorin informatic engeering and i comefrom in indonesian, i like watch your video, and i wish i could be like you :)
You're so personable ❤️
i love your hair *~*
It's been a while🥰💕
Mayuko, I would suggest AR/VR programming. The other Q&A video posted , you were mentioning all the common programming questions people ask you, one stuck in my head , it was "what is JSON" and the way you were saying it , was like your gonna tell us what is "JSON" but we never hear what "JSON" is , so now everytime I see a post from you or now weirdly enough I random ask my self what is "JSON" , I can't get it out of my head, it's a song forever stuck
Silicon Valley is the place i want to work someday. I am fresh graduate but i am still studying some programming specially front end because i do feel like my knowledge and skills is not yet ready.
So, i live in PA. I am a software engineer and make decent money but i could be making about 20-30 k more if i lived in cali. pay margins goes up depending region. That being said i pay 800 for rent and a dollar for coffee. the money i saving is probably more than id be making out there. Keep in mind that there is a bigger job market out there for programmers. there are pros and cons but i am happy on the east coast :)
there's also way more competition
nice earring of the brother
9:19 hey look ma, i made it!
For real though mayuko, congrats on all your recent acheivements. I just finished listening to the podcast and it was seriously amazing. It felt like a documentary just without the visuals. Seriously looking forward to everything!
Thank you so much 😭 and thanks for your question!!
For freelance coding gigs to start out with you could try Fiverr , not as much pressure, the gigs are usually fairly casual and low risk, low responsibility tasks.
21:10 Yeah, I was born on 2nd October
A cup of tall blonde Starbucks is only $2.15 in the Bay Area. Hope it stays that way or I’ll just start making my own coffee. Guess, you prob get your cup at a high end cafe...maybe latte ?
I don't even code, but I still watched the whole video lolol
😊😬✨
She reminds me of Liza koshy. They both got really big on RUclips but then stopped posting often. However they both had many offers from outside RUclips like Hollywood for Liza and Microsoft show for mayuku
17:06 How to stay motivated as software engineer?
Hi Mayuko, what classes did you join for singing ? I would love to get some recommendations!
Hi Mayuko! I just discovered your channel today. I really like it, keep up the good work! I have a question though: you said that, in your opinion, iOS development is a niche and maybe you’ll change paths in the future. What tech do you think is not such a niche, what would you switch to? Thank you!

I think it is great what your husband and brother had to say about software engineering. I work for a university and I have changed from systems architecture type of work to full time software engineering. It has been a little stressful and yet fun. I do hope you do more with your husband and brother in future videos.
Side note, my wife, Maria is Asian, I am a mutt of African, Asian and European mixture. I have a nearly 3 month old son and I am wondering how does it feel for you being Asian in America? Thanks and I will look for your Microsoft videos.
