This is the kind of thing, of which, if it were better-known, and if the actual speeds played here were notated as metronome marks on the music, the fans of the Authentic Sound channel, if they had seen the music but not heard the recording, would all, to a man, declare: ‘Those metronome mark are totally impossible. Why did Mendelssohn write impossible metronome marks? This PROVES the double-beat theory!’
Double beat is also false because way too slow! For Czerny, Beethoven, Moscheles, Ries, Clementi etc etc etc. Please, don't focus with your left-brain and in an anal way on the bloody metronome mark. Play music according to your heart (and musical understanding/mind).
The key of Db/Bb minor is actually quite well liked by many pianist. The combination of white keys and blacks keys comfortably fits the natural shape of the hands. It may seem obvious that C major / A minor should be easy because it's just white keys right? In reality that's not really the case for more technical music. Chopin considered C major to be the hardest key because of it's awkwardness for the fingers and hands. It may be the easiest key to learn, but it's considered by many to be the hardest to master.
@@randomchannel-px6ho I agree! But for some reason I find B-flat and B-flat minor to be difficult. I like how other "flat" keys fit so naturally in the hands.

Etude No. 1 in B♭ Minor - 0:00
Etude No. 2 in F Major - 2:13
Etude No. 3 in A Minor - 5:17
Such an underrated piece it is for No.1...
I think the thing about this piece is that it's extremely difficult but doesn't seem like it to a non-pianist
@@ensiehsafary7633 so true!!
The first one sounds like a Schumann symphonic etude
Meritava diventare un Lied il primo studio
Mendelssohn is one of the best melodists in the Romantic Era
A deeply underrated one.
The melody and harmonisation really bring out the feeling...I love Mendelssohn
Written for Human with 3 arms
Amazing! Thank you so much. Pianist !!!! What a technical performance! Lovely Mendelssohn.❤️
Wow, very difficult but nice
Classical Sheet Music These etudes are easier than the Chopin Etudes, they look difficult but its easy if you try lol
oh. .-.
@@lucasantoniotujan7783 I kind of disagree, I think this one is harder than for example Chopin etude op. 25 no. 1 or smth

What a pianist, and what a composer!
O, yes!
Surprised 1rst one isn't called "Etude for 3 Hands".
I like nr 1 the best!.....perhaps because I played it.....🎹🎹🎼🎼🎵🎶
Congrats Mendelsohn. You composed amazing music here!!

Very nice collection. Mendelssohn was great.

Yes
These were wonderful throughout, thank you. Exploring FM's repertoire is both exciting and rewarding.
Wow, what a performance
Mit glänzender Technik und großer Anschlagskultur serviert...
First is the best!🥰🥰🥰
The second etude almost sounds like the Schubert Eb impromptu/ Eb minor (D956) on steroids
Those trills in no.1, what clever composing and admirable playing. The effect is so satisfying.
They’re arpeggios, not trills
There are 2 trills on E, especially well executed.
The deceptive move from C7 to Bflat minor adds a lot too !

First Etude: This would be a good starting place for learning Tchaikovsky/Pletnev 'Nutcracker' Piece No 7.

The double beat theory is nonsense and you're a moron.
They are not "impossible" because you can't play them.

the third one thou, it looks like a pain in the ass
The choice of tempo is...interesting
I only like the first one to be honest
@Alejandro Elias Ruiz I wouldn't go that far, but I have to agree the first one is more beautiful than the other two.
Agree, especially when the B-Flat Minor Transposed to D-Flat Major to make the exposition of the etude is absolutely beautiful in 0:49 - 0:59

Sounds like Czerny, although the first one interestingly is a bit of the three hand effect, I don't think these predate Thalberg though.

It's an etude nonetheless
this is peak piano
The best is no. 3
So so diatonic

The first one sounds like a Christmas carol mated with Sinding's Rustle of Spring.

It’s what you call the three-hand effect
Mendelssohn would have made a fantastic boogie & jazz pianist. Wondering if Bertrand likes jazz? Cheers for the upload of this awesome performance.
What a weird piece is no.1
Better than any chopin etude
😂
Mendelssohn had an annoying habit relying on repetitive formula's.
I mean, Mendelssohn hated this set, calling it "disgrace" and apologized to his sister, hence the high opus number (published posthumously).
