He is so awesome, isn’t he? Stranger is one of my absolute favorite songs. I get goosebumps every time I hear it. I’m a real fan of movies that have such a mystical or oriental atmosphere. And it was such a great idea by Dimash to use the Kobysz for that.
The kobyz is a very old two stringed Kazakh folk instrument and it’s wide spread among Kazakhs. The man who often is playing the kobyz in Dimash’s performance (also here in Stranger) is the best on this instrument and a good friend of Dimash. His name is Olzhas Qurmanbek. You often can hear this instrument when Dimash sings in his native tongue like Samaltau, Qairan Elim or Òmir Òter.
He sang Stranger for the first time at New Wave in Sochi, Russia in 2021. This is an international competition for young artists, founded in 2002 by Igor Krutoy. Dimash sang here as a guest and was also a member of the jury. Igor Krutoy, like so many other masterpieces, wrote this song specifically for Dimash and his incredible vocal range (in this song alone he sings 5 octaves F1-F6 I think). And the last note he held for 20 seconds. The way he switchs so affortlessly between the different registers and octaves in one song is so mesmerizing and unbelievable.
Stranger was written by the famous Russian/Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter Igor Krutoy. He writes songs that only Dimash could sing with his vocal range, such as Olimpico, Stranger or Ave Maria. You’ll often see him accompanying Dimash on the piano. If Igor Krutoy is there, the song was also written by him.The two have no contract. Their cooperation is based more on mutual trust. It’s more like a father/son relationship.
He wrote this song and others especially for Dimash’s wide vocal range.
Please react to Olimpico from his Arnau concert in 2019 next. In this song he sings in Italian. You can find it on Igor Krutoy‘s Channel. Olimpico is another masterpiece that Igor Krutoy wrote especially for Dimash’s vocal skills. It was written for the 2nd European Games in Minsk, Belarus 2019. And that’s why the lyrics are also very motivating.
This song and this performance from this Arnau concert is my absolute favourite🥰 I think this version is the best, because his performance is so intense and breathtaking. The light show, the background dancers. Everything. With this song in this version I always get breathlessness. The way he represents himself on stage, the hand movements. I think he has incredibly beautiful hands🤭(and apparently many cameramen think so too, since many of the camera shots during his performances very often only show his hands. Sometimes it seems as if he is conducting himself. This is really fascinating). And the facial expression, the look. There he looks so commanding😱. In my opinion, this version of Olimpico is one of the most impressive performances ever. If you don't know what the song is about, you'd think he was going to war and is calling his army to a lost battle 😅! It’s absolutely stunning. And I don't even mean the vocal part, but also his stage presence. The whole package. Oh wow I’m starting to rave again…🤤 Sorry but I can’t help it🥺. I swear it is mind-blowing 🤯

Dimash is a serious artist. He does what he does because he loves it. It's in his soul. His family is the same. He's not out for fame or ego. He is sincere and seeks to connect with people and give the world awareness of his beloved country and people. The zkazakhs are know for their music and art. With the break up of the USSR they are now free as a sovereign Republic. Many of his songs are traditional, but blended with a touch of the modern.
It's not just his vocal range...it's the whole pkg. Dimash has worked hard to hone his voice and educate himself. He's mastered and accomplished at 29 what most barely manage over a lifetime.
All he cares is if people can enjoy and journey with him in music and forget their worries. To lift minds and spirits with some substance and light.
You don't see people like Dimash come along everyday. He's a rarity of rarities. The jealous haters...or people who just don't like him...need to just leave him alone. He knows not everyone likes him. But he also knows he has the largest group of organized fan clubs in the world. His concerts are sold out immediately. People come from across the globe to attend them. And he has the solid devotion of millions of Dears who will never leave him. You got to know there is something very special here.

Dimash is always just SO PERFECT and he's capable of mind-blowing even in later listening stages. I'm a 60 yr-old and I've heard Ave Maria many times by some impressive performers in my life. However, Dimash performs Ave Maria without words and ends the song in my opinion of the winner of "Most PERFECT Note Carried". That may sound a bit weird but it became true and I'm a little addicted to it now. Dimash can do ANYTHING, so people can suggest many different styles of his. There are some favorites you can see by the view count.
Then there is his Sinful Passion that needs to be on your eventual list too. As you know, you can become absorbed into his performance. Nothing is better than me pretending I'm Dimash singing Sinful Passion looking sounding and acting like him in that song. Dimash might be the human that has the most attraction by all other humans to him through his performance than any other human on earth. That's my guess. He could win the BEST HUMAN Award, if there was one, once you go down the rabbit hole and discover really who he is too and how he really gives back.
He's like perfect in all categories which just seems unfair.😂

At the beginning sounds an old Turkic stringed instrument called Kobys. It is probably the oldest bowed stringed instrument in the world and it spread to became the prototype of all European string instruments as violin an chello. That and the use of the fa minor key in the composition gives the vibe of Middle East /oriental/ exotic sound.
Think he´s singing to migrants in general: "New ground far as I can see, new ground underneath my feet, Stranger in a stranger land, new chance to see who I am if I have the strength to begin again"
