For some of you that might seem like not much at all, but let me explain. As I have a fulltime job and side job, I can't produce more videos per week in my current situation. Igor Krutoy is the composer of the song and every time he writes the songs he plays the piano. He loves Dimash and came out of retirement to compose for him. They are a match made in heaven. The instrument is a Kobyz a sort of a two strings violin originally fron Turkey and later on adopted by eastern countries and of course Kazakistan and that guy is one of the best players of it and Dimash wanted him to play it in this song. Stay safe
As you are a musician, after letting Dimash's voice sink in, listen closely to the instrumentation, the beat, the various instruments, the ending all of it is brilliant.

Dimash was one of the judge in the competition held in this music festival. And he also performed as famous artist 5 solo songs (3 new songs -- Stranger, Fly Away, Ave Maria and 2 earlier ones -- Your Love, I miss you) and 2 group songs with jury members and other famous artists

Dimash is a perfectionist and a workaholic. In interviews on Kazak TV, he stated that he wakes up at 5AM (7 days a week). By 5:30AM he has begun doing 3 hours of vocal exercises (scales, arpeggios, lip bubbles, etc..). That is before he even begins his workday in the studio or at rehearsals for a concert. To improve his lung capacity and breath control, he will either swim laps in a pool for 1 hour uninterrupted or hit the treadmill for a 5k run. Sometimes, he will substitute that for a full-on 90 minute soccer match with his mates and their team. (He has good ball skills as you can see here: ruclips.net/video/kt_lokOZLWw/видео.html ). He doesn’t drink, either! He will often work 12-14 hour days. He says he hates vacations. Dimash is the real deal when it comes to showing how hard work and dedication will make you succeed!
Great reaction! And I really enjoyed your other reactions too. Have subscribed to your channel. I know people suggested many different things. But my suggestion is that first checking the original song Ave Maria sung on the same stage with Stranger two weeks ago, then going back to his performances in the singing competition I Am Singer 2017 (Opera 2, Autumn Strong, Show Must Go On, Adagio, Day Break). He was already unbelievable then. Then go with his more recent songs in which he collaborated with Igor Krutoy (Ogni Pietra, Love Is Like A Dream, The Love of Tired Swans, Ti Amo Cosi, Mademoiselle Hyde, Know, Passione). It's amazing to see how he still learns and progresses, and the result of his hard work showed in the New Wave 2021.

Igor Krutoy composed the music, American poetess Sharon Vaughn wrote the lyrics, and Dimitris Kontopoulos (Greece) and Yerlan Bekchurin (Kazakhstan) did the arrangement. Igor Krutoy is quoted as saying that “it was Dimash’s talent that inspired me to write this song, his immense vocal abilities and his desire to sing for a large international audience. Franky, I don’t see anyone else who could perform this piece in such a way.” When Dimash first listened to the melody of "Stranger" he felt that the addition of a kobyz to the musical arrangement would give the song a unique, yet very fitting sound. The Kobyz is a gorgeous instrument. And the way Olzhas Qurmanbek plays it is nothing short of masterful. It’s two strings and you don’t press them to the neck, instead you apply tension or release as needed. One string plays the melody, while the other is for resonance. I’m a double bass player so this instrument fascinates me 🙌🏼🦌🇨🇦💜🇰🇿
Stranger is an epic song with touches of medieval, Gregorian and even a march together. I love Dimash’s different voice textures specially the Middle East vibes in those riffs and runs 🎤❤️🔝🎼👏👏👏👏👏👏 At the end of the performance Dimash introduced Olzhas Qurmanbek, the Kobyz player. Dimash is a phenomenon from Kazakhstan. He started singing lessons at 5 years old and was found to have perfect pitch. He is University educated with degrees in classical and opera, another in contemporary music, pop, and jazz was a major in Vogel technique. He also completed a Broadway musical master class. On June 18th, 2020 he completed his masters specializing in composition and received his master's with honors having achieved the maximum score of 100%. He has since started his Ph.D.

Great reaction. Dimash is a holder of MASTER’S DEGREE in composition and now working his way to obtain a doctorate degree (PhD). You may encounter hate comments, I was informed that some bad people are pretending to be fans of Dimash but their mission is to create hatred in the comment section, one even pretended to be from Kazakhstan.

The instrument is a Kobyz a sort of a two strings violin originally fron Turkey and later on adopted by eastern countries and of course Kazakistan and that guy is one of the best players of it and Dimash wanted him to play it in this song. Stay safe

The qobyz has two strings made of horsehair. The resonating cavity is usually covered with goat leather. Traditionally kobyzes were sacred instruments, owned by shamans and bakses (traditional spiritual medics).

The idea to add kobyz to the new song came to Dimash after he first heard the melody "Stranger". He decided that the folk instrument would fit perfectly into the song, giving it an exciting sound. The performer of the kobyz part is Olzhas Kurmanbek.

Dimash is a perfectionist and a workaholic. In interviews on Kazak TV, he stated that he wakes up at 5AM (7 days a week). By 5:30AM he has begun doing 3 hours of vocal exercises (scales, arpeggios, lip bubbles, etc..). That is before he even begins his workday in the studio or at rehearsals for a concert. To improve his lung capacity and breath control, he will either swim laps in a pool for 1 hour uninterrupted or hit the treadmill for a 5k run. Sometimes, he will substitute that for a full-on 90 minute soccer match with his mates and their team. (He has good ball skills as you can see here: ruclips.net/video/kt_lokOZLWw/видео.html ). He doesn’t drink, either! He will often work 12-14 hour days. He says he hates vacations. Dimash is the real deal when it comes to showing how hard work and dedication will make you succeed!

Great reaction! And I really enjoyed your other reactions too. Have subscribed to your channel. I know people suggested many different things. But my suggestion is that first checking the original song Ave Maria sung on the same stage with Stranger two weeks ago, then going back to his performances in the singing competition I Am Singer 2017 (Opera 2, Autumn Strong, Show Must Go On, Adagio, Day Break). He was already unbelievable then. Then go with his more recent songs in which he collaborated with Igor Krutoy (Ogni Pietra, Love Is Like A Dream, The Love of Tired Swans, Ti Amo Cosi, Mademoiselle Hyde, Know, Passione). It's amazing to see how he still learns and progresses, and the result of his hard work showed in the New Wave 2021.

Another great reaction and analysis. Dimash premiered his newest song "Stranger" on August 19, 2021, during his performance at the annual New Wave music competition in Sochi, Russia. He once again performed with Igor Krotoy on the piano and introduced Olzhas Qurmanbeck on the kobyz. It is an amazing performance, one of, if not the best to date, in my humble opinion. Igor Krutoy composed the music, American poetess Sharon Vaughn wrote the lyrics, and Dimitris Kontopoulos (Greece) and Yerlan Bekchurin (Kazakhstan) did the arrangement.

When Dimash first listened to the melody of "Stranger" he felt that the addition of a kobyz to the musical arrangement would give the song a unique, yet very fitting sound. Thus, the kobyz made its debut at the New Wave Hall at the Sochi Olympic Park, and what a great choice indeed. It is a beautiful sounding instrument that seems to underscore the song’s deep meaning. This wasn’t the first time that Dimash has featured Olzhas Qurmanbeck playing the kobyz. You can also enjoy him in a few of Dimash’s other performances such as Qairan Elim (official music video) and Samaltau (2020 Tokyo Jazz Festival).
The Kobyz is a very old, traditional, and sacred instrument in Kazakhstan. The kobyz or kyl kobyz is the most ancient bowed instrument on earth, widespread among the Turks, Kazakhs, Karakalpaks, Bashkirs, and Tatars. It became the basis for most of today’s bowed instruments around the world, including European instruments such as violin, viola, cello, and contrabass. The Kyrgyz variant is called kyl-kayak. The instrument is carved from a single piece of wood (typically apricot) or juniper (arsha), maple, pine tree, or birch. The instrument consists of three parts: head (bas), middle (base is keude), and lower part (ayak) and usually measures 60-70 cm. It has two strings made from horsetail hair; one to provide melody and the other resonance. The bow is shaped like an archer’s bow, and its string is tied to both ends of the bent branch and affixed with strong threads of camel wool.
The New Wave Music competition started in 2002, and for nearly two decades now has been one of the most iconic music events in Russia and other parts of the world. It is an international contest for young performers of popular music. It was founded by Russian composer, performer, and music producer Igor Krutoy (seen here playing the piano) and Latvian pianist and composer Raimonds Pauls. Russian superstar Alla Pugacheva eventually joined as one of the show’s organizers. The contest usually lasts for six days: 3 contest days, 2 special event days, and the final day when the contest's results are announced and a final concert is performed. The television audience of the New Wave music competition numbers more than 200 million people. In 2018, Dimash debuted as a guest performer, performing his now legendary rendition of “Sinful Passion”. This year (2021) Dimash took part as a guest performer, as well as a judge. The Kobyz is a gorgeous instrument. And the way Olzhas Qurmanbek plays it is nothing short of masterful. It’s two strings and you don’t press them to the neck, instead you apply tension or release as needed. One string plays the melody, while the other is for resonance. I’m a double bass player so this instrument fascinates me 🙌🏼🦌🇨🇦💜🇰🇿

Stranger is an epic song with touches of medieval, Gregorian and even a march together. I love Dimash’s different voice textures specially the Middle East vibes in those riffs and runs 🎤❤️🔝🎼👏👏👏👏👏👏 At the end of the performance Dimash introduced Olzhas Qurmanbek, the Kobyz player. Dimash is a phenomenon from Kazakhstan. He started singing lessons at 5 years old and was found to have perfect pitch. He is University educated with degrees in classical and opera, another in contemporary music, pop, and jazz was a major in Vogel technique. He also completed a Broadway musical master class. On June 18th, 2020 he completed his masters specializing in composition and received his master's with honors having achieved the maximum score of 100%. He has since started his Ph.D.
