    Dimash is always very active on stage, he falls to his knees, jumps from a height, dances, flirts with the audience, sings lying down, with babies in his arms, according to everyone and not a single note spoils. I understand your skepticism, it is very difficult to believe it, but Dimash is not everyone, he is unique and one of a kind

      I've just been rewatching that piece from Antalya where he sang I love you too in a perfect scale while jogging across the stage. Although it's a very cute moment it's yet another indicator that he can sing perfectly in any way he chooses to.

    In this song don't have a whistle , only super high head voice . For Dimash a whistle register begins in 7th octave , and finish to D8 ( from what we have heard in Dimash's performances ) . If you want to hear Dimash's whistle register try " Diva Dance and Drunken Concubine " ( duet with Chinese opera singer ) , or " Unforgettable Day " from Gakku festival 2017 ( the D8 is there ) . A whistle sound is very different from a super head voice . Thank you for the awesome reaction and analysis . With love from Bulgaria ❤❤❤

      @FretsOnFire Год назад +12

      Yes! Dimash's super head voice is so high and powerful that many vocalists and voice coaches mistakenly think it is whistle register. Then when you hear his real whistle, you understand the difference! 👋☺️👍

    Dimash's fans give him kneepads as gifts because he falls onto his knees a lot during live performances. He's doing it less now that he's getting older but if you watch videos of him from before 2019 you'll see why he's able to do it without fluctuating his voice.
    If you want to hear him using staccato you should check out his performance of "The Diva Dance" from the film The 5th Element. His Bastau concert version is the one I recommend most because it stays true to the original. It's very short so you could combine that reaction with the "Drunken Concubine/Diva Dance" duet he sings with another famous Chinese artist. In that one he hits an F7 with vibrato that literally sounds like a whistle you'd hear at a sporting event. You have so many fun surprises waiting when it comes to Dimash.

    The dark round sound is because of his operatic training. He mixes opera and contemporary style. He has huge studies to both styles. Not whistle register again. The wider the vocal range, the higher the whistle register starts. And not falsetto as well. If you listen to the consistency and strength of his vibrato you can tell it's head voice. He practices while on treadmill so his voice doesn't break while jumping. The key is practice. Not theory, because he breaks the law of singing. Thanks for your reaction. 😍

  • @ankwm
    @ankwm Год назад +29

    Thanks for your reaction. About Dimash ability to maintain a not when jumping on his knees, he did it during the Singer competition in China (Adagio), proving that he already mastered this technique 5y before Stranger, because the context - a singers competition - prohibited any pre-recording or manipulation.
    And Dimash does it very often, so we know that his voice remains stable in such circumstances, thanks to his total control on it, justifying the fact that he is considered by many vocal coaches as the best singer of our era. And to this insane vocal talent, there are his stage presence, his ability to convey powerful emotions, his extraordinary personality, and so, so more: an absolute genius.

    I enjoyed your Dimash reaction again! I enjoy hearing about his singing from people who actually understand about it. Dimash has worked on using breath excellently! If you want to see a song that really shows this well, take a look at "Ikanaide" from the Tokyo Jazz Festival (It's not jazz, but you will hear some amazing use of breath!) A song that really showcases the sounds of the kobyz at the beginning is "Samaltau". I recommend you do a little research on it because it is a folk song and it has a historical story behind it. I like either the Tokyo Jazz Festival version or the "Digital Show" version. 🇨🇦 (Oh, liked your reverse psychology!)

    He probably trained a lot to fall on his knees on some of his songs. You can see that in many of his performances. In 2017, a dear gifted him knee pads. I don't think he wore them on stage though. Although he certainly got one or two bruises😂. He also does it at his live concerts if you want to watch for example this Almaty concert, part 3, minute 17.30
    ruclips.net/video/YP1r9wlkmHU/видео.html
    He is so awesome, isn’t he? Stranger is one of my absolute favorite songs. I get goosebumps every time I hear it. I’m a real fan of movies that have such a mystical or oriental atmosphere. And it was such a great idea by Dimash to use the Kobysz for that.
    The kobyz is a very old Kazakh folk instrument and it’s spread among Kazakhs. The man who often is playing the kobyz in Dimash’s performance (also here in Stranger) is the best on this instrument and a good friend of Dimash. His name is Olzhas Qurmanbek. You often can hear this instrument when Dimash sings in his native tongue like Samaltau, Qairan Elim or Òmir Òter.
    He sang Stranger for the first time at New Wave in Sochi, Russia in 2021. This is an international competition for young artists, founded in 2002 by Igor Krutoy. Dimash sang here as a guest and was also a member of the jury. Igor Krutoy, like so many other masterpieces, wrote this song specifically for Dimash and his incredible vocal range (in this song alone he sings 5 octaves F1-F6 I think). And the last note he held for 20 seconds. The way he switchs so affortlessly between the different registers and octaves in one song is so mesmerizing and unbelievable.
    Igor Krutoy (the gentleman on the piano) is a famous Russian-Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter. He came out of retirement specifically to work with Dimash when he first heard him. True masterpieces were created. He writes songs that only Dimash could sing with his vocal range (no kidding), like Olimpico, Stranger or Ave Maria. You'll often see him accompanying Dimash on the piano. If Igor Krutoy is there, the song was also written by him. The two have no contract. Their cooperation is based more on mutual trust. It's more of a father-son relationship.
    Next please react to Olimpico from his Arnau concert in 2019. In this song he sings in Italian. You can find it on Igor Krutoy‘s Channel. Olimpico is another masterpiece that Igor Krutoy wrote especially for Dimash’s vocal skills. It was written for the 2nd European Games in Minsk, Belarus 2019. And that’s why the lyrics are also very motivating.
    This song and this performance from this Arnau concert is my absolute favourite🥰 I think this version is the best, because his performance is so intense and breathtaking. The light show, the background dancers. Everything. With this song in this version I always get breathlessness. The way he represents himself on stage, the hand movements. I think he has incredibly beautiful hands🤭(and apparently many cameramen think so too, since many of the camera shots during his performances very often only show his hands. Sometimes it seems as if he is conducting himself. This is really fascinating). And the facial expression, the look. There he looks so commanding😱. In my opinion, this version of Olimpico is one of the most impressive performances ever. If you don't know what the song is about, you'd think he was going to war and is calling his army to a lost battle 😅! It’s absolutely stunning. And I don't even mean the vocal part, but also his stage presence. The whole package. Oh wow I’m starting to rave again…🤤 Sorry but I can’t help it🥺. I swear it is mind-blowing 🤯

И то, что Димаш делает, он прекрасно знает как и что делать, поэтому он на голову выше всех остальных певцов современности и не стоит подвергать его творчество сомнениям!

    To figure out if the effects are done post production or during the actual performance is to find a fancam. I know there are a few out there. But im pretty sure it was during the performance. His sound producer was there at this performance. Igor Krutoy, the composer, is the bald man on the piano, and this song was written for him. Not from anything. The Kazakh instrument is Qobyz or Kobyz is said like kobiz. Played by Olzhas Qurmanbek, a fellow Kazakh national. And he does train and practice enough not to change pitch when he drops to his knees. He used to slam onto his knees constantly, but not so much now. He gently goes onto his knees these days. Lol.

The story of one sky. El Mv es una obra maestra audiovisual, musical y vocal. El potencial interpretativo y vocal de Dimash en esta composición es de un virtuosismo inigualable.

    Stranger is an epic song with touches of medieval, Gregorian and even a march together. I love Dimash’s different voice textures specially the Middle East vibes in those riffs and runs 🎤❤️🔝🎼👏👏 Igor Krutoy said “It was Dimash’s talent that inspired me to write this song, his immense vocal abilities and his desire to sing for a large international audience. Franky, I don’t see anyone else who could perform this piece in such a way”
    The gentleman playing the Kobyz is master Olzhas Qurmanbeck, the best player in Kazakhstan 🎻🔝 The Kobyz is the first stringed instrument ever. Kobyz is an ancient tool of the Kazakh people. It was used in ancient times by steppe shamans-healers for various rites. Kobyzy is made from a single piece of wood. This is one of the oldest ways of making musical instruments in the history of mankind. It is not due to technical backwardness or the lack of metal devices. According to the ancient beliefs of many people, only in a single piece will the living singing soul of the tree remain, which will sound in the instrument. The open body and strings of the kobyz from a bunch of 30-60 untwisted horse hair give a very thick, overtone-rich timbre. 🔝🔝

    From what I can understand, and I’m by no means a professional in any area of music, the whistle register begins with the sixth octave. That final note he held for an absurdly long time has been gauged as an F#5, so to me that’s nearly the top of someone’s mix register. Once you enter the sixth octave, the pitch is astonishingly high and the sound goes incredibly thin, and you’re in whistle. But, that is just what I’ve concluded based on my own observations.

    Daniel, I am a new follower from Argentina, what you still need to see about this animal is too much, if you really just met dimash, you should be prepared to discover the best that your ears have heard regarding the interpretation and vocal quality of a human being Whether it reaches you or not is relative since the sensations are subjective, but from the musical, auditory, sound and visual point of view, dimash is musical perfection in life. There is not and never was a being that musically speaking is so perfect. singers like Mercuri, Pavaroti, Luis Miguel (from the masculine gender), Ema Shaplin, Maria Carey or more contemporary Adriana Grande (female gender), cannot find a footing to be able to tie their shoelaces. Keep investigating, reacting and most of all enjoying this guy who literally looks like a computer more than a human being, I don't think the most admirable thing is his breathing, his tuning, his excessive control or his vocal range (wider than that of a Piano ) if the fact of being able to change tones, nuances, sounds, and even genres as quickly as if it had a switch that turns on and off at ease and piachere. I await your next reaction. my recommendation his masterpiece "the story of one sky" (I recommend the version of the video clip, since the images tell you the story that he makes you live with his voice, don't lose any detail and enjoy) In my personal opinion, he is the only artist worth monetizing, that's not the case. necessary to pause videos or darken them to avoid copyright) greetings from Argentina man.

    All of his performances have a few effects that are done sparingly and tastefully, and in real time. And above all, no auto-tune. Probably the most used "effect" is compression. And, yes, at the end is a 19 second full-belt note to end the song. He goes to his knees in a few songs, and usually is singing with a lot of force at the time, which helps prevent the note from "moving" when he hits the floor.

    But there is a difference when he falls to his knees - as he finishes the note he gets slightly louder. I'm not sure about this, but the pitch may even go up very, very slightly, along with the volume swell. This definitely happens as he drops to his knees. Then of course he drops the note off slightly at the end.
    To clarify a little, the difference I am talking about is not one of those "hiccups" that you get unintentionally when you move around too much while singing. The little volume swell and then drop off is absolutely intentional, Dimash actually uses the movement of falling to his knees to get the desired effect to finish the note! Just as he might throw his arms up while hitting a hi note, as in Ave Maria. As people always say, he sings with his whole body. (and soul!)
