InFamous has a unique style to it. This like gritty and realisticish approach to superhero titles. Such a fun game and I think 2 is still my favorite. Second son is just behind it though.
For some reason I still prefer infamous 1 over 2 and Second Son I think it's mainly cause the first game had a lot of dark themes, and the gritty, destroyed look of the city made it feel more believable while in 2 the graphics felt to colourful at times in my opinion however all 3 are amazing great games nontheless.

Well i got the game once on the ps3 and played a good chunk of it then i couldn't beat the following mission whatsoever so i left it there w never played it again

The fact the title even ASKED if this game is still good is a sin in and of itself. This game is honestly one of the best the PS3 ever had. It definitely hasn’t aged as well as the 2nd (which is even better) but the story and characters seriously carry the experience imo. In fairness, I remember having my fair share of shitty gameplay moments.
Actually I disagree with you, I like the first game better then the 2nd, even though they made vast improvements. The cutscenes are better, the facial animations are better and the graphics are better, but I miss coles voice actor and I think the setting is better in empire city then new marai. (Apologizes for butchering that name)
I liked how the original Infamous felt dark and gritty. It felt like the city/society was falling apart, it had a more sinister undertone and simply a more apocalyptic art style. When you played to be evil, it actually felt evil, it felt like you were genuinely becoming corrupted. But then infamous 2 and especially Infamous Second Son just through that out the window completely. Infamous (and honestly Infamous 2 and Second Son) could really use a remaster under the PS5 (if I can ever get my hands on one lol.) I’d love to replay 1 and 2 but not at 20fps.
Agreed, the first one felt like a 80s graphic novel while 2 was more like a traditional comic book. I actually like 2, but Infamous 1 had a great feel that set it apart.
I love how the lighting for time of day specifically I think when you are doing all the Alden missions after the hospital and the sky is purple is absolutely gorgeous

I remembered playing this game at least 5 times and watching my brother play this game for at least 5 times as well. We have discovered a lot of stuff about the game during these play sessions, like how there's a small chance that you instantly die while doing a melee attack on one of the garbage man enemies, this also happens if you're doing melee attacks on any metal object the headbutt will have the chance of killing you. Also, i don't know if they patched this at some point because we were playing without wifi back then, the sequence after gaining the lightning storm move where you destroy trucks using it you can choose not to destroy any of them and just walk away giving you the infinite energy you were supposed to use on the lightning strike. This will not lead to the mission failing or ending, it pretty much just gives you the ability to spam your strongest moves to beat the enemies in that area which in turn gives you the opportunity to farm infinite amounts of exp, pretty much maxing out all of your upgrades if you're patient enough. Also I'm sure that the difficulty of the enemies is balanced out by the sheer amount of destruction you can dish out and the overpowered moves you get later in the game like the shield being able to restore your energy and the anti gravity stuff the good karma upgrade for the shockwave and hammer has, Also it's so cool how the good karma upgrades are focused around damage and crowd control while the evil karma upgrades are focused on causing as much suffering as humanly possible . Idk if this is widely known but you can drain electricity from alsmost anything in the game by zapping it a few times with your lightnight bolts.
Kessler is really tough at higher difficulty from what I remember. His shockwave and illusions almost one shot you, and the constant drones dropping grenades can finish you off more often than not.

23:49 I actually like Kessler cause he’s a version of Cole that failed to stop the beast *because* of his good karma and so he wanted his past self to double on the ray sphere to be strong enough to take on the beast. Which is what it should have been but he just saw the beast emerge and did nothing about but go back in time.

I remember playing this game at a gamestop store right after it came out. I had no idea what game it was but I was there for like an hour playing it at one of those stands where you could try out a game. For some reason I never forgot about it and I forgot the name of it and I always wondered what it was. Now i'm here wanting to play it again.
I was surprised when you mentioned the difficulty, I played and finished the game on Hard difficulty without even noticing lol I did have a really tough time though
I recently played through the game a few times, it turned itself to hard difficulty based on my performance the first time and stayed normal the second. They didn't feel too different, some parts of that game are super difficult on any difficulty.

This was the video that caught my attention to your channel in the first place, I never saw many people who could talk about games like you can, let alone games that I enjoyed as a younger kid, I'm 18 now and I haven't done a play through of this since like 2012 it's been that long, also did the bozo move of selling my ps3 so I could get MKX for the xbox one, I was stupid, but this video is good, I agree with mainly every point you go on to talk about, I don't remember the FPS issues as much but I know for a fact that balloon mission was a pain in the ass for me to get through, & I don't remember if I did the game on hard or not, if anything normal, but it was still challenging, this was one of the first games I ever remember getting so I guess it'll just hold a special place in my heart for years to come.
My favorite PS3 series of all time. inFAMOUS 1 and 2 are what got me into Playstation first party storytelling at the age of 8 and I can’t be more grateful. I actually went back and platinumed inFAMOUS 1, 2, Second Son, and First Light earlier this year. This series will always be special to me!
I just platinumed this game today, I quit this game in 2012 and a decade later I give it another shot and yeah. Good childhood memories, and new platinum, now I finally have all infamous games 100% completed. Nice vid.
The way I discovered this game was when I was like 8 or 9 I believe, me and my mom went to our friends house that we knew from church that was just around the block. She was a very lovely old lady, her husband had Infamous. I noticed the small collection of games he had and I looked through them. I had always been fascinated with the idea of having lighting as a super power and to play such a character in a game. When I looked at the cover of the game and saw that he had lighting channeling off of Cole I was in disbelief that such a game existed. As I looked at the back of the cover I was even more fired up. I wanted the game so bad and was wanting my mom to take me to Game Stop to get it. My mom said no and I was pretty bummed. Then the old lady we knew said I could keep the game. I was in disbelief yet again and asked if I really could have it and she said yes he doesn't even play anymore. My eyes lit up!!! When we finally got back home and I started up the game........I played 5 hours straight and finished the game. I loved it so much I beat the story 3 times in less than a week. This game will always be my all time favorite game to play😆😆 It's just one of those games that even to this day is a must play....that is assuming if you don't care to much about graphics and enjoy gameplay more.
Trish treats Cole like sh*t because her sister died in the Ray Sphere explosion. She is grieving and is taking out her frustration on Cole. *Of COURSE* she’d act that way; her lover essentially killed her family.

even though the good didnt relfect in Cole's apoearance it did reflect in the city if you were good throughtout the game the citys sky's would be blue and brighter.
I'm so glad you agree regarding Trish, she doesn't feel real, nor does she feel worth the character development Cole goes through regarding her death. She constantly treats Cole so coldly, even down the Good karmic path and only comes around shortly before her inevitable death.
I remember baby sitting for a neighbour quite alot back in 2014 (I think), I didn't have a ps3 - but my neighbour let me play on the his while I was there. so when the kid went to sleep properly - I played this to pass the time. I absolutely loved it. I think I'll actually go back and play the both 1 and 2 soon 😊
I don't know what it is, but every time I play InFamous on my PS3, I get very addicted & can't stop playing the game. Maybe because the powers & the gameplay are pretty good? I especially like when you play as Good Cole, you actually feel like a real hero in the game. While Evil Cole is fun when you just want to go nuts & kill everything on site. Getting all the trophies/achievements is the tough part, because the stunts & getting all the shards is pretty difficult & the shard parts are a huge time waster as well. But over all, a fun experience, despite the game being 11 years old. I kind of wish I have gotten the sequel as well. I only played the demo of it on PS3.
Infamous 1 is pretty good. If you still have a PS3, play the sequel. The story is not as good, but the visuals and gameplay are improved. Empire City was more fun to explore than New Marias though. The shards, stunts, and dead drops prevented me from getting the platinum in Infamous.
Infamous 1 and ESPECIALLY InFamous 2 are underrated. They are really good games with really cool decision based gameplay mechanics with their abilities. Such good games!!!
24:17 I’m fine with this contradiction cause I think of it like Kessler himself is unable to stop John like how Cole is unable to save Trish. That no matter what the ray sphere would be built, no matter what John would turn into the beast, and no matter what Cole would use the ray sphere. If Kessler could make Cole stronger then maybe he’d have a chance to save everyone.
Biggest problem with the game were the repetitive nature of many of the enemies and the slow traversal on the map. That said I loved this game. Story and atmosphere were great and it was a blast to play. Infamous 2 fixed many of these problems, but I think Infamous is a good one to come back too.

Also, the reason Kessler didn’t kill John is that ether, John wasn’t actually the original beast in kesslers timeline, or that if he did time would correct itself and someone else would become the beast.
A memory that comes to mind when I think about this game is that, if I’m ever in an area with not a lot of power sources nearby and I have nothing in my energy meter then I’ll go to the nearest object ex: trash can, and I spam the basic bolt shot at it a few times and it gives me free electricity to drain.
The dark and murky background is really only a thing on infamous playthrough's though. If you play as a hero the world gets brighter, Cole looks like a clean cut good guy as opposed to a drug addict and burn victim
Mann, I remember first playing this back in 2015 when I was 8 and I pretty much loved the glitches lol, after I completed the game I decided to go buy inFamous 2, but it wasn't in sale on where I was gonna buy it (my friend told me he got it from there) but instead I bought cod ghosts, which Is also a game i enjoyed, I reached max prestige twice and bought other 5+ cod games. Overall 10/10 game since I love the Good/Bad game choices, it's kinda creative.
infamous was one of my favorite games when i was younger i loved it. and then i played infamous 2 a couple years later and the ending made me genuinely sad, because i had so much time to bond with all of the great characters from infamous to infamous 2
We also need to remember that at the time, Sucker Punches whole team making this game was like 20 people. Obviously it’s probably a little bit more than that but regardless, the whole team was extremely small. I think it’s goddamn impressive they could make a game this good. They also did not have much financial assistance in making this game. They also had a lot of super unique and never seen before mechanics and looks for a game at the time. Coles electricity looks pretty insane and unique for its time. I also think the parkour isn’t as bad generally as you think it is. It’s really just the specific stuff that’s kinda annoying. Most of the time when you miss a hold, you can use the thrusters to pull yourself back to your starting point. I also do remember it having a fast travel system with the hospitals spread around the game. I also forgot to mention the Karma system and how much people loved it at the time and even now with Second Son, my favorite game of all time. Also, the character development and plot and the ideas they contain are just super damn cool. I everything makes sense and there’s pretty much zero plot holes I can think of. Overall, this game and the whole series are most definitely my favorite games of all time simply because they’re some of the best with some of the lowest development teams ever. Just my thoughts. Btw I love your videos so much and after seeing your Second Son video ( it was the first video of yours I’ve seen) I subscribed instantly. You could say I’m writing this big ass comment of criticism because this game is so nostalgic for me but regardless I think we can all agree this was still a great game. In another analysis video I saw of this game, that Kessler felt too much guilt for not doing anything about the Beast himself in his own timeline, so he went back in time to let his younger self do what he never had the courage for. He wanted to change himself, but it was too late to do so by that point, so he led Cole down a path of trial to strengthen him. The story reflects this pretty well, and I can get behind that thought process from Kessler
I just played through inFamous for the first time in 2022. I’m now on inFamous 2 and although the first game is pretty rough, it’s really fun on your first play through
To this day I still stand by the ideal that it's one of the best and most unique portrayals of super powers/heroes imo. For me it's top three, up there with brightburn and chronicle.
I played this game for the first time in January of this year. I had great fun so I decided to platinum the game. One of the trophies was to to beat the game on hard. Jesus Christ. It was one of the most painful times I've had playing a game. Not to mention the final boss could kill me with 2 hits which led me to fighting him for over an hour

Infamous did something that in my whole life of gaming I've wondering: Why there's isn't a game that let's you play as a superhero with electricity powers? And then Sucker Punch went out and made this beautiful game.
I played this game for the first time in 2020 and i must say, though i dont disagree with repetitive side missions and the look of the game, it was a very good game for me, i loved it and now im playing the sequel, and it's even better
This game came out when I was 6 and it's still my favorite game to play I remember the sasha mission being so hard but a few years later it was pretty easy this and the second with always be some of my most treasured child hood memories and still love going back to them
Literally my favorite franchise pf the PS3. Part 1 was so interesting. But then the Glow Up from Part 1 into Part 2 was amazing. The story in part 2 was too notch.
The infamous 1 aesthetic is incredible. I loved just roaming around, shooting baddies, and blowing up gas stations. Plus, even though the world was repetitive and full of nameless npc bots, you’re right that the karma system makes it feel alive. Plus, the aesthetic bro. It’s honestly the best looking city in any game in my opinion, even with the ps3 graphics

I also got this game from the free games for the Sony hacked situation. Although the game is not without flaws, it was a foundation for what inFamous became. The game is nearly perfect for what it was, and my biggest problem with it was the choice between Trish and the doctors.
I wish Sucker Punch would make a remaster of both infamous 1 & 2. This game is lit 🔥 and just imagine it with today’s graphics 😍

This drew my attention to how many aspects have to cooperate to make good gameplay. really makes me appreciate how difficult game design is. thank you for the review, I haven't played this game since I was about 8 years old and it was a great nostalgia trip

I remember playing this game at a gamestop store right after it came out. I had no idea what game it was but I was there for like an hour playing it at one of those stands where you could try out a game. For some reason I never forgot about it and I forgot the name of it and I always wondered what it was. Now i'm here wanting to play it again.

I was surprised when you mentioned the difficulty, I played and finished the game on Hard difficulty without even noticing lol
I did have a really tough time though
I recently played through the game a few times, it turned itself to hard difficulty based on my performance the first time and stayed normal the second. They didn't feel too different, some parts of that game are super difficult on any difficulty.

This was the video that caught my attention to your channel in the first place, I never saw many people who could talk about games like you can, let alone games that I enjoyed as a younger kid, I'm 18 now and I haven't done a play through of this since like 2012 it's been that long, also did the bozo move of selling my ps3 so I could get MKX for the xbox one, I was stupid, but this video is good, I agree with mainly every point you go on to talk about, I don't remember the FPS issues as much but I know for a fact that balloon mission was a pain in the ass for me to get through, & I don't remember if I did the game on hard or not, if anything normal, but it was still challenging, this was one of the first games I ever remember getting so I guess it'll just hold a special place in my heart for years to come.
My favorite PS3 series of all time. inFAMOUS 1 and 2 are what got me into Playstation first party storytelling at the age of 8 and I can’t be more grateful. I actually went back and platinumed inFAMOUS 1, 2, Second Son, and First Light earlier this year. This series will always be special to me!
I just platinumed this game today, I quit this game in 2012 and a decade later I give it another shot and yeah. Good childhood memories, and new platinum, now I finally have all infamous games 100% completed. Nice vid.

The way I discovered this game was when I was like 8 or 9 I believe, me and my mom went to our friends house that we knew from church that was just around the block. She was a very lovely old lady, her husband had Infamous.
I noticed the small collection of games he had and I looked through them. I had always been fascinated with the idea of having lighting as a super power and to play such a character in a game. When I looked at the cover of the game and saw that he had lighting channeling off of Cole I was in disbelief that such a game existed.
As I looked at the back of the cover I was even more fired up. I wanted the game so bad and was wanting my mom to take me to Game Stop to get it. My mom said no and I was pretty bummed. Then the old lady we knew said I could keep the game.
I was in disbelief yet again and asked if I really could have it and she said yes he doesn't even play anymore. My eyes lit up!!! When we finally got back home and I started up the game........I played 5 hours straight and finished the game.
I loved it so much I beat the story 3 times in less than a week. This game will always be my all time favorite game to play😆😆
It's just one of those games that even to this day is a must play....that is assuming if you don't care to much about graphics and enjoy gameplay more.
Trish treats Cole like sh*t because her sister died in the Ray Sphere explosion.
She is grieving and is taking out her frustration on Cole.

Kinda funny how this guy spent half an hour tearing the game apart, and all I can think is how nostalgic it is to see all these levels and the climbing again :) No hate though, I enjoyed the review!

even though the good didnt relfect in Cole's apoearance it did reflect in the city if you were good throughtout the game the citys sky's would be blue and brighter.
I'm so glad you agree regarding Trish, she doesn't feel real, nor does she feel worth the character development Cole goes through regarding her death. She constantly treats Cole so coldly, even down the Good karmic path and only comes around shortly before her inevitable death.
I remember baby sitting for a neighbour quite alot back in 2014 (I think), I didn't have a ps3 - but my neighbour let me play on the his while I was there. so when the kid went to sleep properly - I played this to pass the time. I absolutely loved it. I think I'll actually go back and play the both 1 and 2 soon 😊
I don't know what it is, but every time I play InFamous on my PS3, I get very addicted & can't stop playing the game. Maybe because the powers & the gameplay are pretty good? I especially like when you play as Good Cole, you actually feel like a real hero in the game. While Evil Cole is fun when you just want to go nuts & kill everything on site. Getting all the trophies/achievements is the tough part, because the stunts & getting all the shards is pretty difficult & the shard parts are a huge time waster as well. But over all, a fun experience, despite the game being 11 years old. I kind of wish I have gotten the sequel as well. I only played the demo of it on PS3.
Listen here man it took me like days to find all the blastshards. I even went to search up the location of each 1 for all 3 islands.
Infamous 1 is pretty good. If you still have a PS3, play the sequel. The story is not as good, but the visuals and gameplay are improved. Empire City was more fun to explore than New Marias though. The shards, stunts, and dead drops prevented me from getting the platinum in Infamous.

Infamous 1 and ESPECIALLY InFamous 2 are underrated. They are really good games with really cool decision based gameplay mechanics with their abilities. Such good games!!!
24:17 I’m fine with this contradiction cause I think of it like Kessler himself is unable to stop John like how Cole is unable to save Trish. That no matter what the ray sphere would be built, no matter what John would turn into the beast, and no matter what Cole would use the ray sphere. If Kessler could make Cole stronger then maybe he’d have a chance to save everyone.
Infamous and Prototype are my favorite games from the PS3 era
I remember this game being one of the first I remember going out of my way to max my karma level. I was really invested!
inFAMOUS 1 & 2 in a nutshell: You die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become a villain
Biggest problem with the game were the repetitive nature of many of the enemies and the slow traversal on the map. That said I loved this game. Story and atmosphere were great and it was a blast to play. Infamous 2 fixed many of these problems, but I think Infamous is a good one to come back too.

Also, the reason Kessler didn’t kill John is that ether, John wasn’t actually the original beast in kesslers timeline, or that if he did time would correct itself and someone else would become the beast.

A memory that comes to mind when I think about this game is that, if I’m ever in an area with not a lot of power sources nearby and I have nothing in my energy meter then I’ll go to the nearest object ex: trash can, and I spam the basic bolt shot at it a few times and it gives me free electricity to drain.
The dark and murky background is really only a thing on infamous playthrough's though. If you play as a hero the world gets brighter, Cole looks like a clean cut good guy as opposed to a drug addict and burn victim

Mann, I remember first playing this back in 2015 when I was 8 and I pretty much loved the glitches lol, after I completed the game I decided to go buy inFamous 2, but it wasn't in sale on where I was gonna buy it (my friend told me he got it from there) but instead I bought cod ghosts, which Is also a game i enjoyed, I reached max prestige twice and bought other 5+ cod games. Overall 10/10 game since I love the Good/Bad game choices, it's kinda creative.
infamous was one of my favorite games when i was younger i loved it. and then i played infamous 2 a couple years later and the ending made me genuinely sad, because i had so much time to bond with all of the great characters from infamous to infamous 2
We also need to remember that at the time, Sucker Punches whole team making this game was like 20 people. Obviously it’s probably a little bit more than that but regardless, the whole team was extremely small. I think it’s goddamn impressive they could make a game this good. They also did not have much financial assistance in making this game. They also had a lot of super unique and never seen before mechanics and looks for a game at the time. Coles electricity looks pretty insane and unique for its time. I also think the parkour isn’t as bad generally as you think it is. It’s really just the specific stuff that’s kinda annoying. Most of the time when you miss a hold, you can use the thrusters to pull yourself back to your starting point. I also do remember it having a fast travel system with the hospitals spread around the game. I also forgot to mention the Karma system and how much people loved it at the time and even now with
Second Son, my favorite game of all time. Also, the character development and plot and the ideas they contain are just super damn cool. I everything makes sense and there’s pretty much zero plot holes I can think of. Overall, this game and the whole series are most definitely my favorite games of all time simply because they’re some of the best with some of the lowest development teams ever. Just my thoughts. Btw I love your videos so much and after seeing your Second Son video ( it was the first video of yours I’ve seen) I subscribed instantly. You could say I’m writing this big ass comment of criticism because this game is so nostalgic for me but regardless I think we can all agree this was still a great game. In another analysis video I saw of this game, that Kessler felt too much guilt for not doing anything about the Beast himself in his own timeline, so he went back in time to let his younger self do what he never had the courage for. He wanted to change himself, but it was too late to do so by that point, so he led Cole down a path of trial to strengthen him. The story reflects this pretty well, and I can get behind that thought process from Kessler
Also do a critique on the Little Big Planet series, they’re extremely underrated.

I just played through inFamous for the first time in 2022. I’m now on inFamous 2 and although the first game is pretty rough, it’s really fun on your first play through
To this day I still stand by the ideal that it's one of the best and most unique portrayals of super powers/heroes imo. For me it's top three, up there with brightburn and chronicle.

Jesus Christ. It was one of the most painful times I've had playing a game. Not to mention the final boss could kill me with 2 hits which led me to fighting him for over an hour

I played this game for the first time in 2020 and i must say, though i dont disagree with repetitive side missions and the look of the game, it was a very good game for me, i loved it and now im playing the sequel, and it's even better
This game came out when I was 6 and it's still my favorite game to play I remember the sasha mission being so hard but a few years later it was pretty easy this and the second with always be some of my most treasured child hood memories and still love going back to them

Literally my favorite franchise pf the PS3. Part 1 was so interesting. But then the Glow Up from Part 1 into Part 2 was amazing. The story in part 2 was too notch.
The infamous 1 aesthetic is incredible. I loved just roaming around, shooting baddies, and blowing up gas stations. Plus, even though the world was repetitive and full of nameless npc bots, you’re right that the karma system makes it feel alive. Plus, the aesthetic bro. It’s honestly the best looking city in any game in my opinion, even with the ps3 graphics
I too had a realization, that it wasn't really a super hero game, but a 3 person shooter.

Still my favorite game series of all time. I still own all three games, maybe one of these days I’ll plug in the PS3 and do it all over again.
I also got this game from the free games for the Sony hacked situation. Although the game is not without flaws, it was a foundation for what inFamous became. The game is nearly perfect for what it was, and my biggest problem with it was the choice between Trish and the doctors.
