Brother your the only video that actually brakes it down . Thx my guy . Good video u need to do more videos . I watched f..... king 20 videos and when I watched urs it was a no brainer!
thanks m8! just changed my belt, 5 minute job on an 05 sierra 1500 with the 5.3. I actually didn't need to remove the manifold from my throttle body as there was adequate clearance. I also turned the "other" counter-clockwise to loosen the tensioner ;)
Thanks, awesome video. I'm a Ford guy but I now have a beautiful 2003 Silverado cat eye and I just love how Chevy makes things easy to work on (except for the oil pressure sensor / sender) - I see now that I do NOT have to remove the fan shroud, the belt runs past it in such a way that you don't have to go around the fan, did I see that right? Hopefully you have the A/C belt video too. From what I read here, it is behind the serpentine so it should be done after the serp is removed and before it is replaced...
Thank you this video was very helpful for me. I had my belt changed in less than 5 minutes and it was very simple. You explained everything correctly but I wish you would’ve showed how to remove the fan.
I got a 99 GMC Yukon Denali SUV I'm doing away with the air conditioner it locked up on me what size belt do I need to bypass the air conditioner pulley I'm not putting a bypass pulley in there delete kit just delete the pulley itself with a smaller belt what size do I need the 350 vortec
thank you for your video I could not figure out how to get the belt back on even with the diagram. when you showed the loop you first make over the crank pulley I finally got it! THANK YOU!!!!!
i just changed my alternator , trying to replace belt now, it seems the belt is about 1/2 inch to small, and yes ive done this many time with different vehicles , cake walk but ive nvr had this issue , is the 5.7 and 5.3 alternator different in size, from the cntr of the bolt holes to the cntr of the alt shaft, this is a super easy job ,ive got some parts mismatched i do think , hmmm chit ..........................
Gonna be doing this in the next day or so, how do you know how much to tighten the tensioner up? Edit: nevermind, did it and you dint actually unscrew it you just pull it back with the socket. Time spent removing air channel: 5 mins, time to remove belt: 30 secs, time putting new belt on: 20 mins cuz the new one was being a twisty wobbly wobbly jerk!
Thank you so much! I was having the hardest time with this. I had the wrench on the right side of radiator hose and could only go as far as fan shaft. Just needed to move tension pulley a little more. Thank you again!
And then there's me... who actually knows how to put on the belt but the damn thing won't go back on... An hour later I'm watching an install video and wondering why the hell everything fights me every step of the freaking way. I mean, this isn't rocket science... why don't it go easy for me? And it ain't just the belt... let's change a blade on a mower... 20,000lbs of torque later, burning in hell, that bolt still won't budge. Come on!!! Dammit! It's a freaking serpentine belt, not my wife, not that damn complex..
Belt could not even have cracking or noticeable wear and it still needs to be replaced. Got squeaks? 90% of the time it the serpentine and/or ac belt needs to be replaced.
4.8 2006 Silverado changes a/c and serpentine belts. Easy to get them off. Not so easy to get back on. Really a 2 person job due to having to hold tensioner al the way down and try to feed stuff new belts on. It's very tight to get a new stuff (twisted) new belt on. Maybe mine were cheap kind. I am not sure if there's new more "flaccid" belts. I had to use cargo straps to hold the wrench whick was holding tensioner. The a/c belt is a BITCH. You would think the would putore play in the tensioners to make it not suck so bad. Anyone saying this is a 5-minute job is a fucking bullshiter. Maybe for a 10 year plus mechanic. Not for a 30+ year carpenter.(me)
I still can't get my belt on under the pulley I was replacing the alternator I had put this belt on when I replace the water pump last year I need help ASAP
Figures you'd show a video with a K68 RPO code (105-amp) alternator...I think my 2500HD is the ONLY silverado that EVER CAME OUT with a 125-amp KG7 alternator on it...damn freak of a truck!
Excellent video, great review BEFORE you actually change the belt, but it would also help to cover the AC Compressor belt change while you are there, since it is behind the main serpentine belt. Great job never the less. If you do a video of the actual AC Compressor belt, please let me know! Thanks!
Do you know size belt I need for a 2001 Chevy Silverado 1500 5.3? They ask me at the auto parts place 105 or 130amp but I’m not sure to be honest so I got the 105 and it has popped off 2 times now. Please help me.
Made it easy for the rest of us. Had to do this when I upgraded to a bigger alternator. Thanks!

Thank you this video was very helpful for me. I had my belt changed in less than 5 minutes and it was very simple. You explained everything correctly but I wish you would’ve showed how to remove the fan.
Do you have ac , wouldn’t you change both belts at same time ?

Gonna be doing this in the next day or so, how do you know how much to tighten the tensioner up?

Can a worn belt affect my truck starting up?
Thank you so much! I was having the hardest time with this. I had the wrench on the right side of radiator hose and could only go as far as fan shaft. Just needed to move tension pulley a little more. Thank you again!
Very clear Fox, this is excellent!! You saved me a lot of time and money.
Just used the video to determine the proper belt path. Original stickers were missing due to panels that were replaced from prior accidents.
did the same thing lol
Saved my ass on time and headache twice ,thank you!!
Thank you the video truly help I appreciate

Thanks. I am just dreading doing this. I keep putting baby powder on the pulleys to stop that terrible sound.
