Problem with the afl on tv is that they zoom in on the guy with the ball too much and you can’t even see the person that he’s about to kick it to until after he does let alone what the rest of the players are doing. No ability to analyse strategy or tactics

End of the day, Rugby league and rugby overall will always be played worldwide. You’ve also gotta consider that there are viewers not just in Australia, but across the world watching NRL. And plus AFL is a white mans sport.. there are obviously more whites in Australia, they make up 90.2% of the population. NRL is watched by ethnic groups since Rugby is worldwide and can be played in there home countries such as many of the pacific islands. ethnic groups make very little of Australia. 45% of the nrl is Pacific Islander (make up very very small percentage of AUS) and 12 percent aboriginal or Torres Strait islander. They make up literally more than half of NRL and again, make up very little of Australia.
Nrl is definitely a tougher sport these days than todays sanitised feminised game compared to Aussie rules in the 80s and 90s but its a MUCH more exciting game than Nrl. Nrl is not really an international sport, Rugby union IS. Only about 3 countries are any good at league. Its not a major sport in any other country and never has been.

NRL is watched by ethnic groups since Rugby is worldwide and can be played in there home countries such as many of the pacific islands. ethnic groups make very little of Australia. 45% of the nrl is Pacific Islander (make up very very small percentage of AUS) and 12 percent aboriginal or Torres Strait islander. They make up literally more than half of NRL and again, make up very little of Australia.
Nrl is definitely a tougher sport these days than todays sanitised feminised game compared to Aussie rules in the 80s and 90s but its a MUCH more exciting game than Nrl. Nrl is not really an international sport, Rugby union IS. Only about 3 countries are any good at league. Its not a major sport in any other country and never has been.
@@alexander8688 Even the main countries that play Rugby League don't have it as their biggest sport. New Zealand has the Union all blacks and the British have soccer. Papua New guinea is a random third world country and the rest are islands. It would be great to see both sports be recognized for their greatness especially the AFL but stupid choices ruin great sporting events.

easy, fast paced, anything can happen, from quick turn arounds to great comebacks, multilayered, with kicking, marking, hand passing (without throwing), tackling, running while bouncing. Insane goals (for example a punt or banana kick from the pocket), it’s the only real 360 football code, combination and position play which is in principle similar to that in soccer: structured build up often using the corridor, quick passing chains, high level of skill in many areas.
Grew up in Europe with mostly soccer but love this game. Like the NRL too though, just not as much.
