He was killed off like he meant nothing. He should of been the one to lightspeed thru the ship. Would of been a great send of for him. How disrepectful to him and the fans.
Spoiler: Yoda's joke is even funnier if you caught the double play in his meaning. He says something to Luke along the lines of "Nothing is in there that young Rey does not already have with her." Implying that the knowledge of the Jedi texts is already inherent within Rey. But if you notice later, you see Finn open a drawer on the Falcon and find the Jedi texts inside. Rey LITERALLY has the knowledge with her, in that she stole them from inside the tree before leaving the island. Luke thinks Yoda is destroying millennia of Jedi history, but all he's really doing is burning down an empty tree.
BATJAX Now imagine if Lucas wrote that scene. "What they grow beyond are we. The burden of masters that is." Forgot how seldom Yoda actually spoke like that he did.
Holdo wasnt trying to redeem herself, she didnt even do anything wrong. The reason she sacraficed herself is because in the leia novel it mentions that even from a teenager holdo was constantly trying to put herself in life threatening situations becasue she an adrenaline junky. Which makes it all more funny considering she called poe one and said she cant stand his kind which was basically indicating that she was mocking herself
In my opinion, I think Admiral Ackbar should have been the one to lightspeed kamikaze into the enemy star destroyer. He should have been the one put in charge while Leia was still healing and made him the one to give a powerful sacrifice. We didn’t really get to know Haldo so her death didn’t hit as hard. They shouldn’t have killed Admiral Ackbar off when the bridge of Leia’s ship was destroyed. All we got was a quick line. “Among the casualties were Admiral Ackbar...” and that’s it. Seems a little disrespectful to me. Maybe I’m too attached to characters. Just my opinion.
IsaiahChavezCA I agree with that it should have been Admiral Ackbar in charge instead of Holdo. But I think it would have been more fitting end of Leia's character if she flew the Resistance ship into Snoke's instead. Perhaps the scene with Luke & Leia on Crait could've happened just before Leia were to crash the ship. Would've added SOOOOO much levity to the movie
Tuxedo Trooper Oh I know, sure it had some misplaced jokes. And yes Leia force pulling through space was a bit ahhhh. If people think they're gonna top the original trilogy, it's just not going to happen. Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver are amazing. You can feel this very strange love/hate relationship between the two. Snoke will get his back story. Perhaps in the Solo movie. Or perhaps 10 years from now. TLJ is better then all the prequels and Rouge One.
The Farmer of Lead None yeah rogue one and TFA (don't get me wrong TFA is awesome) were love letters to the original films. Some of the old fans can't except change so they weren't ready for TLJ. My list would go 1.Empire 2.ANH 3.TLJ 4.TFA 5.ROTJ 6.ROGUE 7.PM 8.ROTS 9.AOTC
The movie I have mixed feelings; I too felt Daisy & Adam had great chemistry and agree the fight in Snoke's throneroom was great--I only wish that the film maker didn't tip his hand. Like you, I also felt the Canto Bight (and the poorly written Finn/Rose partnership) was a waste of storyline.
Arturo García How do you know he's going to be a great father? Do you know him personally? You never know, Greedo could be a wife-beater hillbilly who sits in front of the TV tugging at his pants.
lamgeordie , doubt it. why would luke be so determined to burn the tree if not to burn the jedi books with it? and he attempted to run into the tree to retrieve the books before the fireball blasted him from the entrance. although, it's possible yoda knows that rey took the books.
I think Yoda does indeed know that Rey has them, as he said: "Rey already has everything she needs", most likely refering to the actual books, and not just knowledge and whatnot.
na. when finn was putting rose in the falcon at very end when she was wounded, he was trying to find a blanket for her. he opened a drawer under the bunk (nautical term for a bed) she was on. screen purposely showed finn shuffle some old books around to find the blanket.
This movie was saying, "You know all of these theories and speculations that you've mauled over for the past two years? Maybe you shouldn't have been doing that. At all." The moment where Luke throws the lightsaber away was when I knew what kind of movie we were in for, and I loved it for that!
Yoda did not destroy the books. Rey stole them and put them on the falcon. You can see them when finn goes to grab somethi,g out of a drawer at the end. Yoda destroyed the tree so luke wouldnt see they were gone
@@lapplandkun9273 What? _Whaaat?! You think that is a reunion. I think that you think it is a reunion after all..._ Like... I don't know what to even say...
Jef Montagne Only his original voice actor Erik Bauersfield died and they replaced him with what I believe to be is Tom Kane. So I don't think that was the reason.
Eli HS Admiral Ackbar never really was a character, he was a convincing practical effect, created to diversify the Star Wars Universe, but never essential to the plot. He is just like Boba Fett overhyped.
Fred I'm going to stop you right there. I believe you have no proof of this and it is obvious that leia has to die next film, probably in the opening crawl. there is no fourth trilogy of numbered films. the rian Johnson trilogy will either be about the child at the end of this film or possibly the old republic.
I heard its not going to be a strait remake of the knights of the old republic story line. it could be set in the old republic and be about the mandalorian war that happened or it could be about other people in the modern day learning that they have force powers.
player 3 productions the new series Rian Johnson is making is about stuff never before seen in the galaxy, another part of the galaxy no one knows about.
Rose fucked an amazing scene up. At the end when Fin was flying into the beam I was ready for his death I thought it would give the movie some great weight and would give fin an honorable send off, but then comes rose who fucks it all up, that beautiful scene ruined. I don't know but that scene really pissed me off
Fuck Rose she ruined the wntire movie for me ... all that feminist Kathleen kenedy shit where we need to have these dumb ass extra women characters for the "fans" like poe, finn, and rey solid .. fuck the holdo character she was trash nobody cared about her and he stupid ass purple hair... smfh way to fuck up 40 years of great story telling
yes, she fucked up Finn(his intentions as a person), but in a way that Finn was as fustrated as the audience. And, apart from that, she told us a lesson(or at least tried)
What happens when someone strong with the Force try to "Force Pull" Something Stronger or Heavier than them???????? The General Leia Saving herself Scene. She wasn't Flying...... She's Literally "Force Pulling" herself back to the ship...... However, that scene could have CGI_ed Better.
The Gaming Kitchen exactly...ive been repeating the same thing over and over again, but for some weird reason, many people cant understand that very simple scene....she simply uses the force to go back to the ship, she uses it like every Jedi does but since shes floating in space, shes the one moving towards the ship instead of the ship moving towards her, thats not that complicated for gods sake!! Lollll
Stefan Bittihn if you watch the movie again, youll noticed that its as if she did it without knowing it..she barely open her eyes, and she doesnt look at the ship either...its like a survival reflex, as if the force took over to save her or something...thats also why she was unconscious right after that And she didnt stay long enough in space to die, so the breathing part was not a problem...specially for a force user like her I saw the movie for the 3rd time already, and i can honestly say that it gets better and better everytime, theres so many things that we miss or wont get right with only one viewing, thats a movie that has to be viewed multiple times to be fully appreciated
You don't just die instantly if you stop breathing. In fact people with sleep apnea stop breathing when they are asleep. The brain realizes it is starving of oxygen and reflexively wakes you up so that you can breathe again.
EXACTLY! That is my main issue with this movie. What about the knights of ren? What about Obi Wan calling Rey I her force vision? How did Maz get Luke's lightsaber? Are we just gonna ignore Han, a man who contributed to the destruction of the galactic Empire and who was close to the leader of the new resistance? I think Rian Johnson could make something good with his own trilogy but he basically threw away the ideas for this trilogy like Luke threw away the lightsaber.
My two favourite parts of this film were Kylo and Rey taking on the Praetorian guards and the hyperspace collision. Also I loved how Snoke was a complete dupe, bet that was Lucasfilm agreeing that all Snoke theories suck The Leia “Mary Poppins” scene was the most awkward thing to watch.
I personally didn't really care about the Snoke theories. That being said, why the hell would they build him up as this dark, mysterious and powerful figure and then suddenly just throw him out the window? This is the man who is responsible for EVERYTHING that has happened in the sequels, from corrupting Ben, to establishing and leading the First Order. I face palmed so hard during that scene.
It may have been done with smaller vessels. However, considering how many high power weapons exist in SW, overlooking this option most of the time isn't unlikely.
Technically they didnt have a reuinion. Luke commuincated with Leia through the force and was already about to die so what she could have been dead, too...
I get where your coming from, but at the very least the actors themselves occupied the same space staring at each other and interacting. I expected at best we would of got some weird ' oh I feel luke' type of moment like we see with Rotj, where han says ' i'm sure luke was'int on that thing' . That's how low my expectation level was going in. thats not at jab at rotj jedi either.
GTFOH. Do u know what the word "cringy" means...people now days use this word out of context way too much. If you thought the scene was bad, then say it was bad. It's certainly not cringy tho lol. I thought it was fuckin fantastic and chilling but understand some people are against it.
The Rabbit Twitches exactly. The idea is great. And bold too, moving away from lineage. But the execution, OMG (the kids looked like the orphans from the movie Hook - thought there they fit perfectly with look and feel of the movie)
i hated that leia-superman scene. It would be the perfect death for her. Keylo refused to kill her but then sees her being killed by the oranization he supports. It would perfectly fit into his character arc....
Fred Garvin exactly, I really don’t understand how they didn’t take the opportunity to give her a send off when it was so easy to do so, now whatever way they do use i fear will feel contrived and out of place. It obviously was the plan to have her survive but in light of what happened it seemed like an easy and good way to write her out.
I think it couldn't be done because all of her scenes were shot through the movie until the end. A lot of reshoots would have to be done, I'm surprised she didn't die in this movie though.
Sheev Clade lmao it’s called editing idiot, and they could have done reshoots. They replaced Kevin spacey after he shot an entire fucking movie, dumbass. Obviously it’s not ideal but it’s the type of thing that can be done if circumstances call for it.
Sheev Clade Lmao why are you so mad bud? I’m not arguing it wouldn’t be difficult, but harder things have been done in Hollywood. All I’m saying is it was possible, and it was. Carrie passed almost a year ago, believe me, that is more than enough time to reshoot the scenes she was in, which honestly was not that many after she went into the coma. And she had very little affect on the plot, so no major re-writes would be necessary. You don’t understand film making hahaha.
I love how people complain about the physics with Leia in space. I get that people think it’s stupid, but....we’re also watching movies that have lasers in space and explosions in space. Why is this important? Because since there’s no oxygen in space there’s no sound in space for lasers and explosions.
At least give that great character some sort of heroic end, rather than wasting his death. Granted, wasting deaths iis all this movie had. Snoke was an absolute waste, Ackbar, and Luke. None of them really had much meaning or much of a point. I have to say, this was the first Star Wars movie I walked out of and was quite disappointed with.
And thats not supposed to be the theme of learn from your failures in the original trilogy? Becuase what ep 7 and 8 tell us is all the efforts and lessons learned in the earlies movies where for nothing and now the heroes had to learn something they already knew time ago
Made a theory about something that I have not seen on Reddit yet, spoilers below I notice that people are upset about Snoke's death at the hands of Kylo, but I think it was actually very important. I think Snoke KNEW that Kylo was planning this, and not only knew, but WANTED him to. He said he knows his "every intention" and he said he knows that he's "turning the lightsaber to strike down his true enemy". At first, I thought he was talking about Rey, but then I thought "why would he say he sees him 'turning his lightsaber' and the term 'true enemy' is kinda vague". Remember in ROTJ when the Emperor wanted Luke to strike him down in anger to complete his turn to the dark side? I think that Snoke knew that Kylo was conflicted between the Light and Dark side, and knew that by killing him, and then taking his place as supreme leader, it would cement his place in the dark side, and allow the dark side of the force to survive, through Kylo. He knew that by executing Rey, it would only make him feel worse about the Dark side, similar to when he killed Han. So basically, Snoke foresaw that Kylo wouldn't actually kill Rey, but kill him instead, and thereby completing his Dark Side training. Really wish that we could see more of Snoke and his backstory, though.
I thought the same thing as well. The issue is zero back story or any relationship between Snoke and the Empire/First Order. We still do not know where he came from or how .
He was using vague terms because Kylo's thought patterns were intentionally vague in order to mislead and betray Snoke. You're reading the scene all wrong. Snoke was like "yes, I'm all powerful, I see your thoughts, I can never be wrong and will never lose" Kylo was like "nup, just doing two things at once and fooling your old decrepit generic villian arse"
"This is what you get for trying to manipulate me into getting Rey for you to kill when I want to turn her, and also for picking on me for not being Vader and losing to her in TFA"
We may. Don't you think that if Leia could use the Force to not get killed being sucked out into space, then Snoke can use the Force more so to regenerate himself. Remember that Darth Maul did not die from the same injury.
I gotta add a few extra problems: - Luke's X-wing was shown in the water and then ignored. Do something with it or cut it out. - Snoke's family tree doesn't matter, but his history with the Empire does. An explanation would have filled a massive plot void between the Empire and the First Order. Even Snoke's very body, withered and torn as it is, says this guy's got history. - Rey is still absurdly powerful and skilled, and now there's no reason for it. - Rose stopping Finn (with a high-speed collision) from saving the base on Crait so she could say she loves him? WTF? So selfish and pointless. There was no chemistry between them, no build up to that.
Bernie Sanders I think the X-wing was there so that when we see Luke on Crait we can figure it out in our heads that that was how he got there. Up until you realize he was never there at all only reason the ship was in the film I think
i cried when chewie was piloting the falcon through the crystals and rey was sitting in the gunner, and the original john williams score was playing, man the was a chill buster
I love how Yoda says there’s nothing in the tree that Rey doesn’t already have... because she took the books beforehand, dead for decades and still the greatest troll in the whole jedi order.
Dude. Im just gonna say something I loved about the movie. I mean, I loved it even with its flaws and shit, but this is probably the best thing ever that Ryan did. THE TWIN MOTHERFUCKING SUNS. As Luke sees the twin suns, he dies and becomes one with the force. Dude I almost cried while I was watching that scene.
They did a few too many fake outs. Omg Leia is actually going to die? Nope just kidding. Holy shit kylo is actually going to the light side? Gotcha again. Wow Finn is going to die? Of course not dummy. The whole Finn thing bugged me anyway cuz we already saw roses sister, and 3 pilots sacrifice themselves to save everyone else. But Finn can't do it because it's a suicide mission. I didn't want Finn to die, but I just wish they didn't go there.
I for the most part agree, with snoke dead we would either have had a very boring hux bad guy for the third one, or just some random villain that came from nowhere. I think it could have been interesting to see how the resistance would react if kylo came back with Rey, but probably not interesting enough to make it a good choice, lol. My biggest complaint was them overusing the fake out thing. Maybe if they just did it with kylo it would have been better.
Matthew Hill fair enough, but I think Kylo was amazing in this film and leaving him on the dark side definitely helped how great he was. Looking forward to how Kylo pans out in Ep9.
Matthew Hill for Finn and Leia, heres how I'd fix it Finn is not saved by Rose, he instead turns around last minute after hearing poe screaming down the radio and realising its too late, only to be saved by Rey and Chewy in the Falcon who shoot the AT-AT that is targeting Finn as he trues to get back to the base. Leia and Admiral Holdo do a switch and she has the death she deserved, also with none of that stupid space wizardry in the beginning
It couldn't really be Leia on that ship. Let me explain. So the entire point of that part of the story is Poe's development as a character. He's arrogant and undermines Holdo's command of the Resistance because he thinks that his ideas are better. When Poe attempts mutiny, he's convinced that he's doing the right thing that Leia would have approved of. This is revealed to be false when Leia stuns him. It had to be Leia there because the audience trusts Leia and her authority. Likewise, Holdo needed that honourable end because the audience would have sided with Poe if she had been the one to come in and stun Poe. The point of this storyline, and the positions of trust and distrust for Holdo and Leia make it vital that the characters play the role that they do. It might actually ruin the tone of that arc if Leia had gone out that way as you suggested. Don't get me wrong; I think it would have been a suitable end to Carrie Fisher's role as Leia, but it doesn't really work with the story.
Holdo is probably the stupidest character of the whole franchise. Just tell the fucking plan to Poe. As a matter of fact, let Ackbar have this moment and sacrifice himself, who the fuck cares about Holdo? This movie is a bunch of wasted opportunities.
He discovered by himself that she was fueling the smaller ships but she didn't told him the whole plan (the planet with an abandoned rebel base where they could hide), Leia did and he was totally fine with it.
I'd make one change to the film: Replace Rose and Finns act and use the good 30 minutes of the film for more Luke rey stuff and a small act that showed a galactic scope and the effect episode 7 had on the galaxy. I'd send Finn (maybe rose but she doesn't need to be a character IMO), maybe poe and some other rebels on a mission to regroup the new republic. So a fourth ship in the resistance fleet jumps to (for nostalgia's sake) coruscant where the remains on the New republic fleet (fuck off was it all wiped out at hosnian prime) has rendezvoused. Naturally the first order give chase as they can track ships through hyper space now. However the new republic fleet fight the first order. Then they can come to the aid of Leia and engage the first order. The battle of Craig can then be made more epic before Luke turns up. This would be further improved if more first order ships survived holdo's suicide mission. Maybe some smoke background (plagueis...) But oh well, I didn't mind the film, I just feel like some prequel/ galaxy wide style element should be encompassed (as even the originals missed that)
Lot of people hating on this for reasons like snoke not having a backstory, and Rey’s parents not being anyone important, because that’s what they wanted. A lot of people went into this film looking for the answers to this shit, but personally I could care less. So for me this movie was very enjoyable. Because I wasn’t focusing on all these shitty theories being answered.
@Spartan- 1337 Probably for fun and engagement like movies should be? I tend to agree, I don't put that much stock in nostalgia and alot of the arguments people have made for why the movie is bad, I enjoyed it for what it was: different.
I was super pleased with that as well. The Snoke death, the Rey's parents thing and the death of Phasma were all high points- course corrections, if you will. The one downside is it proves a suspicion many of us had and that is that there was no clear plan. Is there a broad overarching plot or are they playing Jazz? My cynical side suspects Kennedy went in saying "do what you want, but make sure we have x, y and z" and x,y, and z have little to do with Star Wars and more Kennedy's/Disney's own agenda, but whatever.
The Last Jedi is so bad that it makes Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones look like Shawshank Redemption. It's disrepect of characters, plot holes, failures to pay off on promises, problematic undertones and how generally boring it is gives writers a great example of exactly what not to do.
My thoughts exactly. A fan edit that either simply takes out the masses of one-liners, or a legitimate edit that gets rid of the overly embellished side plots.
As much as I love Finn's character, his death and sacrifice would have been one of the most emotionally powerful moments of the story ! Sometimes a character's death serves the story (and the character) way better than keeping him around for the whole story, just look at Harry Potter and the death of great beloved character way before the end. Don't understand this "romance" between Finn and Rose neither, it wasn't really needed. Anyway good movie, I agree with everything Greedo said, except the Snoke part, sometimes not having the backstory on everything and keeping the mystery alive is great, but not there, it was too important to be kept a secret, it's a really poor choice. Hell every character know who he is, Han & Leia even refer to him simply as "Snoke" in episode 7, so why in the hell we audience can't have an explanation ?!? A big hole in the story.
I think they didn’t kill Finn off because to the audience it would’ve been the stereotypical main black character is the one to die first and also because he hadn’t even met up with Rey yet so it would’ve been eh to kill him off. And I truly believe Snoke is till alive
jeanloui7 definitely agree man, that would have been a perfect end to Finn's story. He spent the whole time running from the first order in TFA. He then should have died facing what he has been running from.
Canto Bight isn't bad, it's the story arc there that is made badly. They should have focused more on the whole "Grey" area of the war, since TLJ was built up to be the "Grey" movie.
it's so refreshing to hear a point of view that isnt kicking and screaming about how the movie is bad. the movie definitely gets much better upon a second viewing, having an idea of where it is going and what the different stuff is and also having an opinion already in place of "is this good, is this bad or is this ok?" it opens the mind and allows you to see the movie a bit clearer. the fan reaction is what annoys me, people complained that TFA was too similar to a new hope and that Rey was overpowered, now that it is trying it's original ideas and making Rey definitively not a mary sue people are mad because it didnt do what it wanted them to do. they dont want a troubled and broken luke they just want the amazing paragon of jedi luke or that they didnt learn everything there is to know about characters like snoke who dont require all this backstory (HG's Tomato sketch is brilliant). people have lost sight of what star wars is - it's a fun goofy space romp (bit less light hearted then that but point stands) and people are treating it like this amazing serious space drama created for nerds who know everything about everyone, the people have forgotten star wars is for everyone - especially the kids. and congrats Greedo on becoming a parent! (soon)
mobbles1 if you want to live in echo chamber, go ahead. In your echo chamber, the movie has no flaws because it's just a movie. Just because mediocrity is your standard doesn't it mean it is everyone else's standard. Father Of Memes try not to only hear one side of a criticism. Seek to understand why. You may find valid reasons for the criticism. My criticism of the movie: I feel like the pacing was a little off. Like they didn't have enough time to flush out some of the storylines or subplots. Perhaps a consequence of Rian Johnson directing this movie. Yes, this movie was beautifully shot. It's Disney after all. What they did with Luke Skywalker is just a massive waste. Luke Skywalker was a stronger person emotionally and mentally in episodes 4-6. I believe this was a poor characterization of Luke Skywalker. I agree with HelloGreedo. I don't really like the movie. I just like moments in the movie. I wouldn't be against someone making a fan edit of The Last Jedi.
Im not saying it isnt goofy (ffs look at ewoks and wookies for example) but if youre completely ripping off previous installements in the framchise, making a character such as snoke a merging of kylos character and only that by killing him off like a wanker i think you are disrespecting the weight this franchise has to some people; the star wars eu is one pf the biggest expanded universes ever created. I di love the new ways the force is manifestated in the movie, and lukes not taking any shit attitude at first, learning to accept both the light and dark bringing balance and the force to its natural state, but then does a 180 a pulls a fucking ben kenobi, LITERALLY. I am so done.
Kenobi was contributing to the future by watching over young Luke at least. This Luke just wanted to die like a coward. I've never seen such a blatant disrespect of an iconic character before until now. Mark Hamill did an excellent job playing Luke in this movie though. I think his acting is one of the best things about this movie tbh. But I see why Mark Hamill hates this version of Luke. The characterization is inconsistent with the original trilogy.
Empire had just as much humour. I understand what people are saying about the Canto Bight sequence, but it serves multiple functions for so many of the films secondary characters, that you can't really take it out. It ultimately ties into Poe's arc as well as Finn and Rose's, as well as Holdo and Leia. It also sets up the payoff for the idea of a spark of hope with the stable boy at the end. I also appreciated how they laid out this whole plot about how they thought they were going to save the day, and it turned into a big failure.
The atmosphere of the casino was very interesting, almost every other star wars setting is gritty and that seemed a huge contrast. And I believe it provided a lot of back story to Rose, who i assume will be important in the future, little plot twists like how their mission failed always make movies seem more realistic to me anyways. Like whats the excitement of the mission if we know they're going to succeed every time?
I actually liked the casino planet. It looked so good to me. The sequence could have possibly been shorter, but I enjoyed it because it expanded the universe. Even Empire had a strange middling half with no direction.
HG gets a lot of praise in general, and deserves it, but never as much as he does now. The best review of the film I've seen/read by far. OK, yes it's because he has voiced my own opinion, but the balance and fairness is fantastic, and the icing on the cake is that he said exactly what i thought......FAN EDIT PLEASE!
Or even better yet, if Rian Johnson released a directors cut that cut out 30 minutes of runtime and focused more on the Rey/Luke/Kylo stuff other than the weird Leia/Finn/Rose/Poe stuff, I would be TOTALLY on board with that.
Also why the fuck is she Laura Dern in a shitty wig? Like, it just feels so weird to me that it’s Laura Dern. I don’t understand why it could’ve been any other actor
It was entertaining but did nothing for the movie really, Rose and Finn coulda gone directly to the ship, Rose hacks some shit while Finn keeps watch and thats it.
I did like how they linked the kids to the end of the movie as the future hope which can come from nobodies just like Rey, just that message saved it for me.
I have watched a ton of reviews but when I saw that you had a review out I wanted to watch it because I knew you would have different more interesting input than a regular RUclipsr. Love your videos and congrats on the baby girl!
You do know that Yoda was playing Luke as he knew Rey had already removed the books right? It shows them in the falcon near the end. Look for it in your second showing
My problem with this movie (other than flying Leia) is actually about how it breaks what was set up in TFA. I liked how Snoke was killed but I do wish there was at least more dialogue between him and Kylo before that happened, so that we could see more about their relation. But my issue with Snoke in this movie is actually about how he seems like a completely different character than what he was in TFA. He was serious, and he somehow admired Kylo ("even you, master of the knights of ren.."). He also said that he was going to finish Kylo's training, what happened to that? What we got was this giggling weirdo who seemed to despise Kylo completely. It was like someone else completely. I also really didn't like seeing Luke throwing the saber away. I know it shows right away that Luke is not interested in training Rey and doesn't care about the fight, but it just ruined that emotional ending from Force Awakens that I love so much. It felt like I was watching a youtube parody. Other than that, I actually enjoyed how TLJ breaks all our expectations. I just wish it wasn't at TFA's expense. PS: the conversation between Luke and Yoda was one of my favorite scenes from the whole saga.
Leon Artmann I'll say they did everything perfectly i maybe bias but Luke throwing the saber added humour but showed his broken state and how he has changed for the worse after kylo destroyed everything he just built he was devastated him throwing it showed that he doesnt care really and he it explains it later on too about the whole thing and snoke being the way he was, was actually perfect he had high hopes for Kylo but he lost to a girl that doesnt know anything lost all of Starkiller base and just lost a father that he is still struggling with he had light and wasn't vader like snoke said he didn't want a new vader he wanted a skywalker and showing his disappointment in kylo made it were he finally became someone else and kylo started changing really changing and whats interesting is how he was just like palpatine how he died basically everything getting corrupted blinded by the darkside enjoying it to much being very evil it showed actually how corrupt he was and when he died it wasn't expected but it was perfect the dude was just a corrupt blinded being that had to much pride and before the fall comes pride he thought he had everything but really he didnt he was legit at the peek of his success killing off the jedi killing the remnant of the republic and building the sith once and for all once he saw he couldn't change rey he just had to kill her but really Kylo is just like Anakin and my theory is that Kylo is gonna die in some way like Anakin did or just gonne end the darkness to the skywalkers and my step dad saw the movie with me and his theory about snoke dying is that Snoke did it on purpose he thought snoke got himself killed so Kylo can complete his full transformation to the Dark side and complete what he has started since Kylo needed to let go of his past so we'll see but this movie is just different but star wars all in a good way can't stop wondering what is gonna happen next have a nicr day!
I love the scene where he tosses the saber, I think it's part of his point about legends, they don't always matter. Rey needs a teacher not a legend. Also this movie takes place mere weeks after TFA, Snoke didn't have time to complete Kylo's training, the scene where he chastises him for being beaten by Rey is their first meeting since the last one.
Dustin Caldwell no it doesnt havent weeks or anything it legit happens right after literaly righr after TFA like maybe 30 mins after if anything but do agree and Leia surviving like that was interesting but needed to be better way to do it
Darth Maul in episode 1: we know nothing about him, then he dies - bad Supreme leader snoke in episode 7-8: we know nothing about him, then he dies - good? I'm not too sure if I understand your point there..
Storm I agree that snoke's death was a good idea and like hellogreedo said in the video it was really well done. I don't mind that Maul “died“ (used ““ because of rebels and clone wars obviously) in episode 1, but I want to understand why his death back then was a negative point in the episode 1 review and now snoke's death is a positive in episode 8 - both because we didn't know much about them..
I think the real problem with Maul's is that is didn't impact anyone's arc. The fact that he killed Qui-gon was important to Obi-wan's arc, but not his death. Snokes death on the other hand is a major point on Kylo's arc, it's when he realizes Snoke is only using him to get to someone more powerful, and decides to bring an end to this. However, that's just my two cents in the matter, I know many will disagree.
The reason Snoke's death was good was because it had purpose, he wasn't around long enough to become a stupid Palpatine 2.0 and his death was used to cement Kylo's path
well the thing with maul is they never set him up to be a big powerful bad guy but they did with snoke in my opinion they should've waited until the begging of episode 9 to kill him
If empire came out today everyone would complain about the myloc scene and the ugnauts throwing c3po around when we should be seeing more of Luke and Yoda. Time will show that those problems you have with last Jedi aren't problems
FasolatiWhitamen true the mynocs was unnecessary but it doesn't destroy the plot and story, unlike 90% of everything in this movie. This may actually have been the worst star wars movie yet.
what's with fans thinking Empire was all well recieved when it first came out? it wasn't, people complained because it was "dark", the dark side won at the end of that movie, it wasn't recieved as a masterpiece it is now... BUT i can totally tell you the new one, while enjoyable and funny, wont ever be considered a masterpiece, is just another movie, it was plot issues, i don't care for theories, the plot makes no sense, back on empire it was simplier... the "no, i'm you father" wasn't a big question raised by the previous movie, it just happened...
I liked it more after thinking about it than when I just watched it. It took me some time to realise that they didn't play it safe and took some risks. Which I loved when I think about it. Could've probably done without the casino bs. There was a lot of moving parts to follow in this one but need to watch it again before ranking it against other films
That’s what I did - watched it a second time before making judgements. And now I can say I freaking love this movie. I think fans will come around on this movie with time.
The fake-out deaths were interesting to me. In the moment, I was glad certain characters didn’t die, but in hindsight I didn’t like having my emotions played with. I balled my eyes out when we thought Leia died during the bridge attack. I was on the complete edge of my seat and utter disbelief with tears in my eyes when Finn (my favorite sequel trilogy character) started speeding towards the core of the Battering Ram Canon and was going to sacrifice himself to save everyone. I thought to myself “There’s no way Luke can just die like THAT.” when he walked in front of all the Gorilla AT-ATs and seemed to had been blasted into oblivion. These sequences really get your heart pumping and get your tears jerkings, just for the film to say “Haha! Gotcha!”
IsaiahChavezCA That's what I was thinking in this film. I was like "They can kill Leia this early" and also was super devastated when Finn was driving into the Ram Cannon. I just like all the risks the film took.
I wonder if it would have been a more powerful scene if Rose tossed Finn out of trajectory and sacrifice herself against the Battering Ram Cannon, and leave the line about fighting to save what we love via radio just before this...
congrats greedo, happy for you! still remember the first video i watched of yours. blu ray changes for rotj, still one of my favorite videos, thanks for being so entertaining.
5:27 I saw it as a response to the Reylo ship, it deals with it by instead of connecting them romantically, it's through the force instead. That way fans who ship Reylo can be somewhat satisfied knowing that the two will still be close to each other by the end of this trilogy, in a different sense of course.
Leia floating popsicle killed this movie for me. Admiral Haldo was awful... WTF with "Godspeed" comment???? Lots of corny crap in this movie that just kept it from being good.
I know what it means. In my opinion its out of place in this "universe" just like the icy cold silence of space. Star Wars has never been about these things.
Go check out Pablo Hidalgos twitter. He posted numerous (like over 15) different times "god" or"hell" etc are mentioned in previous star wars movies dialogue.
Nader Zein yup I know... Still doesn’t fit in my opinion, plus her character was awful so it made it even more corny. This is just where I am with this.
Congratulations Greedo. I just took my oldest son, 5, to his first Star Wars theater showing. Proud Dad moment for me. Hopefully your daughter will be able to have that experience
Things that could make the movie so much better: 1) Cut the sub plot with finn. Please. 2) Kill Leia, not because I want it to happen, but because it needs to 3) Cut out 75% of the jokes 4) Have Finn die to save the rebels, only to have them die anyway 5) Have Rey and Kylo join the "grey" side
I thought they Leia force pulling scene was an awesome idea, and maybe it would’ve been better executed had Carrie Fisher been around for reshoots, but they were kind of forced to use it as it was.
the idea was ok, but its execution was awful. it should have been her seemingly lifeless body floating back to the ship, maybe some eye movement, maybe let us be confused by who is actually saving her. is she doing it herself? is it Luke? is it Kylo?
I know how I would fix 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi'. Here's my version of the movie (just a warning, it will be long): The film starts off with Rey approaching Luke Skywalker, handing him his old lightsaber, only to throw it over the cliff. Rey chases after him, begging for his help. Finding his lightsaber again, she tries again in the morning, only to face rejection and no explanation for why he won't train her. With the help of Chewbacca and R2-D2, Luke learns of Han Solo's death and is persuaded to help Rey (with R2-D2 using Leia's recorded message from A New Hope) in training her in the ways of the lightsaber, but not the force. The Resistance holds a funeral for Han Solo, with a speech being done by General Leia. Afterwards, she and the leading commanders are informed of several sectors in the galaxy swearing allegiance to the First Order, thanks to a new powerful Super Destroyer Spaceship that was finished on a secret military base. Leia orders the base to be found. Six months later, Rey has become skilled with her lightsaber but wishes to know more about how to use the force, which Luke continues to refuse to teach. Though allowed to see much of the ancient first Jedi Temple, Luke refuses to let her into a dark cave and the library, which holds the ancient knowledge to Jedi teachings. When asked why he came to the Jedi temple, Luke explains that he did so to learn from his past mistakes and to learn who Supreme Snoke is, but ultimately came to the conclusion that the galaxy never truly needed him and decided to remain on the planet. When asked why he left a map to his location, Luke states he never left a map behind, leaving Rey confused. Meanwhile, the Resistance faces heavy losses as Supreme Leader Snoke forces half of the galaxy into submission and are unable to find the secret base. Having lost control of the sector they are in, General Leia orders a retreat. During this time, Fin wakes up from his coma and is nursed back to health by a medic/mechanic named Rose. However, the super spaceship arrives and begins to attack the base, making the Resistance pull out in an attempt to escape. Fin, Rose and Poe Dameron are separated, leaving them to escape on their own. Though failing to get help from Maz, they are informed that a man named the Codebreaker may know where the secret base that built the super spaceship maybe, promoting them to go out and find him on his believed-to-be whereabouts from Maz. Frustrated with Luke's refusal to explain his reasoning to her, Rey goes to the library and reads from the Jedi books, attempting to teach the force to herself. However, this attempt opens a connection between her and Kylo, allowing the two to see each other, but not their surroundings. Condemning him for killing Solo, Kylo tries to defend his actions and uses her conflicts emotions against her. After the connection ends, Kylo discovers water on his glove and takes it to be analyzed, while Rey confronts Luke, who angrily snaps at her for disobeying him, deciding to end her training. Pushing him further, Luke reveals that he no longer believes in the Jedi Order and plans on ending it by dying on the planet, without anyone else to continue his teachings. He goes on to reveal that the Jedi were corrupt and greedy, only using the force for themselves when it was really for everyone and everything that lives. He then orders her to leave the planet as he sets fire to the library, burning all the books with it. The Resistance escapes to an abandoned Rebel base on an unknown planet, using it to refuel and send out a message to other Resistance cells around the galaxy, telling them to enact "Operation: Last Resort". However, the First Order arrives, having tracked them through hyperspace, and traps them on the planet. Kylo Ren discovers that the water found on his glove holds special properties that only few planets have and sends out drones to determine which planet Rey and Luke are on, before leaving with General Hux to lead an assault on the ground, beginning a battle with the Resistance fighters. Meanwhile, Fin, Poe and Rose arrive on a First Order controlled planet, in search for the Codebreaker. After mistaking a man for the codebreaker, they are arrested by First Order soldiers and are taken to a prisoner war camp. Recognizing Fin as a deserter, the orders send word to Captain Phasma, who arrives and takes him away for execution. Desperate to find a way out, Poe and Rose run into Lando Calrissian, who is revealed to be the Codebreaker, having been arrested for discovering their plans for the super spaceship and the location of the base it was being built. He reveals that more than one was being developed, which was Snoke's backup plan to control the galaxy if the Starkiller Base was ever compromised. After learning of Han Solo's death, Lando causes a riot and helps the two escape, managing to stop Phasma from killing Fin in the process. Boarding a First Order ship, they head for the secret base in the attempt to destroy it and take one of the super destroyers as well. However, unknown to them, Phasma survives the riot and follows them. Rey goes to the dark cave, hoping to find out why Luke doesn't want her to go inside. Upon entering, she sees an endless cycle of her reflection and asks to know who her parents are. However, it only continues to show only her image and that of an unknown woman. Continuing on, she sees a series of different images; the birth of Anakin Skywalker, a young Obi-Wan Kenobi kissing a girl as they prepare for what they believe is the end, an older Obi-Wan holding the same girl as she dies in his arms, Chancellor Palatine telling Anakin Skywalker the story of Darth Plaguies the Wise, Kylo Ren bowing to Snoke as Luke watches in horror, witnesses her own birth as her mother dies and is given to a couple, and sees the same couple giving her up for money to leave Jakku. Snapping out of the trance, Rey comes face-to-face with the projections of Snoke, Kylo and Luke, with a series of voices telling her to "end the cycle". Luke sits amongst the ruins of the library, contemplating his choices as the force-ghosts of Yoda and Obi-Wan talk with him, praising his willingness to let the past go and learn from his failures, which Yoda says is the greatest teacher of all. Motivated by hearing his sister's pleading for help and the need to save Kylo, Luke confronts Rey as she is about to leave and joins her. However, they find themselves being chased by First Order drones, managing to escape them before going into hyperspeed to save the Resistance. Arriving on the secret base, Fin, Poe, Rose and Lando sneak in and manage to take one of the destroyers, only to be confronted by Phasma, who engages Fin and Rose, while Lando and Poe pilot the ship and destroy the base, including downloading all of their information, thanks to Lando's codebreaker skills. Just as they are about to be defeated by Phasma, BB-8 shocks her and sends her falling out of the ship, though she manages to survive her fall as she swears vengeance against Fin. With their mission a success, they head to the coordinates that the First Order is at, knowing the Resistance will be there. Arriving first, Luke and Rey see the destruction and secretly use an escape pod to board the super destroyer, while its shields are done. Once inside, they set bombs in certain areas and learn that Snoke is also there. Seeing an opportunity to face him, they sneak up to his chambers. At the same time, Kylo is told to come back to the super destroyer, leaving the battle to Hux. Confronting his master, Snoke tells him that Luke and Rey are on the ship and wants him to kill Luke as a way to prove his worth. Breaking through the door, Rey and Luke battle Kylo, including Snoke's guards. Though they emerge victoriously, Snoke uses his force powers to paralyze them and orders Kylo to kill Luke. Begging him not to do it, Rey watches in horror as Kylo is about to slay him, but is saved at the arrival of the super destroyer helmed by Poe, Fin, Lando and Rose, who begin attacking the ship. Rey uses the opportunity to stab a distracted Snoke with her lightsaber, killing him. However, a dark cloud appears and begins to possess the body of an unconscious Kylo. Using the moment to escape, Luke and Rey board a pod and crash on the surface of the planet. Heavily damaging the First Order ship, Fin, Lando, Poe and Rose land the super destroyed on the base and begin to help the evacuation. Reunited, Luke and Leia share a brief moment together before boarding the ship. Holding off the First Order, Luke and Rey battle the small army, until they stand down on the orders of Kylo Ren, who is now under the control of Snoke's spirit. Battling the two, Rey demands to know who he truly is and he begins to briefly explain his backstory, making both her and Luke realize he is Darth Plagueis. He taunts that their efforts are in vain, as his ship will still be able to track them through hyperspace. Overhearing this, Leia leaves the ship and boards one of the last remaining Resistance starships, using it to pilot towards the First Order super destroyer. Before sending it into hyperspeed, she makes contact with Luke through the force and asks him to continue helping the Resistance in her absence, and destroying the destroyer. Using the moment to escape, the Resistance pilot the destroyer into hyperspace. Continuing their fight against Kylo/Plagueis, Luke and Rey are saved by Chewbacca, who pilots the Millennium Falcon over them to hop on and escape. Kylo/Plagueis watches on, promising to meet again. Meeting up with the rest of the Resistance, Rey and Fin are reunited, including Chewbacca and Lando, while Luke mourns Leia's death. When Rey asks him what they will do now, which he vows they will find a way to kill Plagueis, destroy the First Order and save Kylo to honor Leia's memory. Believing that there is hope.
I think they should have killed off Finn. Like phasma shoulda killed him. It would show that phasma is actually a good character and does somethin. Rey would have to deal with Finns death goin into episode 9 and would have to control anger of him dying and peace.
RIP Admiral Ackbar
No more traps! :'(
kfc kyle when they said he died man I was actually so upset
KFC!!!
He was killed off like he meant nothing. He should of been the one to lightspeed thru the ship. Would of been a great send of for him. How disrepectful to him and the fans.
Glenn Walsh that’s because his voice actor died last year
Spoiler:
Yoda's joke is even funnier if you caught the double play in his meaning.
Nextralife i totally missed that!
once you notice it it makes yoda burning down the tree a big impact on like hey luke i love fucking around with you eh hey hey just like when they met
Yeah, either Yoda knew she took them, or he put them on the ship. Either way he knew they were not in the tree.
well spotted! I wonders what is was in that drawer! Excellent!
An excellent observation - that worrying seems like the writers may have done by accident ! But yes- Yoda is the f’n dude!
“We are what they grow beyond. That is the burdened of masters” - Yoda
*burden
“Failure is the best teacher.”
BATJAX “strike me down in anger and I’ll be with you forever”
BATJAX Now imagine if Lucas wrote that scene. "What they grow beyond are we. The burden of masters that is." Forgot how seldom Yoda actually spoke like that he did.
Why the hell did he talk in perfect grammar?
I swear...if you don't put a Darth Vader helmet and say "I am your father"...
And name him/her Luke...
algorithm or leia
And I'm also a fucking scorpion
CONGRATS ON THE PADAWAN!!
Star Wars Explained man never knew you watched hellogreedo love your vids btw

Sebastian Ramirez He is a normal person who also watches videos like you do.
Perenara I read that in peters voice from the empire strikes back family guy parody.
I say Ackbar should have been in Holdo's place. Should have had a heroic sendoff. Didn't care either way about Holdo's redemption.
Fred Garvin Leia should have died when her bridge got blown up tbh
Holdo wasnt trying to redeem herself, she didnt even do anything wrong. The reason she sacraficed herself is because in the leia novel it mentions that even from a teenager holdo was constantly trying to put herself in life threatening situations becasue she an adrenaline junky. Which makes it all more funny considering she called poe one and said she cant stand his kind which was basically indicating that she was mocking herself
Somehow I think having Akbar in that dramatic situation would have looked ridiculous.
anthony j Like Poppins Leia? Akbar or Leia should have done the lightspeed kamikaze...
Fred Garvin well they didnt plan for carrie fisher dieing you idiot.
IsaiahChavezCA ackbar deserved an honorable death, actually he should've kept his goddamn home one, WHERE IS IT
IsaiahChavezCA Allahu Admiral Ackbar
idiotshow325 I would say too soon but that's pretty funny
I agree, Holdo was worthless, we know her for like 20 minutes, and then she is just one more of the TOO MANY sacrifices that there is in the movie
"You're too negative about the movie, it was awesome!"
"You're too positive about the movie, it was shit!"
Love it.
HelloGreedo I loved the movie. Just watched it and I have no clue what everyone was crying about.
The Farmer of Lead None trust me dude the star wars fanbase is a shit show
Tuxedo Trooper Oh I know, sure it had some misplaced jokes.
My list would go
1.Empire
2.ANH
3.TLJ
4.TFA
5.ROTJ
6.ROGUE
7.PM
8.ROTS
9.AOTC
The movie I have mixed feelings; I too felt Daisy & Adam had great chemistry and agree the fight in Snoke's throneroom was great--I only wish that the film maker didn't tip his hand. Like you, I also felt the Canto Bight (and the poorly written Finn/Rose partnership) was a waste of storyline.
IM SORRY ARE WE NOT GONNA TALK ABOUT ACKBAR (RIP)
:(
I’m surprise he didn’t died in expect battle
Tom Ingham who ?
Tom Ingham o
The trap got him. :-(
That Maz Kanata scene looked like Battlefront 2 lol
At least it didn't have fucking loot boxes
metalmugen I bet she got that jet pack with sweet crystals.
Octavio89 she was fighting for real
Oyaro thanks captain obvious
TheGoldenJedi33 look who he was replying to
Omg, Greedo! You are gonna be a father? That's amazing! Congrats, man! You are gonna be one awesome dad!
*Plays HISHE's "I am a father"-theme*
He sure is
Arturo García How do you know he's going to be a great father? Do you know him personally? You never know, Greedo could be a wife-beater hillbilly who sits in front of the TV tugging at his pants.
Daniel James i don't think he is like that unless he's been playing a character this whole time.
"No, that's not true; that's impossible!"
I don't get why you thought Ben Solo's shirtless scene wasn't with the tone, because it was. He was perfectly toned.
I wonder if his daughter will be born a stormtrooper helmet
Ouch, that'd be painful to give birth to.
Nah, it will be a New Order helmet
PlaynReview and his dad has a clone trooper helmet
Well let's look at the punnet square. Is poor aim a dominant or recessive gene?
Yoda didn’t burn the books, Rey took the books.
Federico Ritacco didn’t Luke put them there when he snuck into the falcon?
lamgeordie , doubt it. why would luke be so determined to burn the tree if not to burn the jedi books with it? and he attempted to run into the tree to retrieve the books before the fireball blasted him from the entrance. although, it's possible yoda knows that rey took the books.
I think Yoda does indeed know that Rey has them, as he said: "Rey already has everything she needs", most likely refering to the actual books, and not just knowledge and whatnot.
I thought he did burn them. Yoda says “page turners they were not” implying that they’re gone
na. when finn was putting rose in the falcon at very end when she was wounded, he was trying to find a blanket for her. he opened a drawer under the bunk (nautical term for a bed) she was on. screen purposely showed finn shuffle some old books around to find the blanket.
Rey stole the books, that's why Yoda destroyed the tree. To prevent Luke finding out and giving Luke a sense of closure.
I think what describes this film best is 'Tonally bouncy and too much of too little'
No luke put them in when he went on the falcon.
Yoda indeed fooled Luke about the books as Ray has them.
how do you know rey have the books?
Hawcun they’re in the falcon at the end
It's as if a thousand fan theories cried out in terror, then were suddenly silenced.
Also congrats on the baby!!!
That's pretty much how you describe this movie. :D
reylo didn’t die, it went mainstream
This movie was saying, "You know all of these theories and speculations that you've mauled over for the past two years? Maybe you shouldn't have been doing that. At all."
The moment where Luke throws the lightsaber away was when I knew what kind of movie we were in for, and I loved it for that!
lol
ftsces if you think the reylo ship is good I'll be so pissed
For me there was this big problem
Luke: " I came her to die "
Me, in my head: " Well why the f#$k is there a map to your location then "
Antoni Dziedzic hahahahahaha so true
Because it was a map to the first Jedi temple.
and he himself put it there inside R2 in the first place!
Yeah, wtf was that?
J.C. L. Why did he do that
Yoda did not destroy the books. Rey stole them and put them on the falcon. You can see them when finn goes to grab somethi,g out of a drawer at the end. Yoda destroyed the tree so luke wouldnt see they were gone
As Pooped By Anakin Skywalker wait whaaaaaaaaaat
"Nothing is in that tree, that she doesn't have"
Yeah I noticed the books when Finn searched something in the Falcon at the end
You don't understand, I've been refreshing my homepage waiting for this review
You are not alone. I understand completely.
Same here bro
I disagree with the Leia sacrifice. If she did that we wouldn't have got the heartbreaking Luke and Leia reunion. I was soooo close to crying
You call that a reunion? Okay. Guess it’s what you think after all
@@lapplandkun9273 What?
_Whaaat?! You think that is a reunion. I think that you think it is a reunion after all..._
Like... I don't know what to even say...
@UC9ebfBwof-NJRmHkKvj_xeA what do you think a reunion is, dumbass?
Why do you think they used Holdo while just casually killing off Ackbar? Seemed disrespectful to his legacy imo
Eli HS the actor playing Ackbar died so that's probably why he got killed off early
Jef Montagne Only his original voice actor Erik Bauersfield died and they replaced him with what I believe to be is Tom Kane. So I don't think that was the reason.
Chase Osborn i guess ackbar wasn't a major character then
Well Holdo dead now.
Eli HS Admiral Ackbar never really was a character, he was a convincing practical effect, created to diversify the Star Wars Universe, but never essential to the plot. He is just like Boba Fett overhyped.
Looks like a stormtrooper actually hit something lol
Congrats also bro
(Edit): Damn that a lot of likes 🔥
Contraband Pwahahaaha I hope he reads this x'D
Very nice!
LMAO.
Lol so funny
right in the exhaust port
My favorite scene was when Luke milked the fuck outta that space alien cow thing
The teats did look vaguely human, but it is no different than watching a cow being milked.
I swear... Chewy better not be next.
Fred I'm going to stop you right there. I believe you have no proof of this and it is obvious that leia has to die next film, probably in the opening crawl. there is no fourth trilogy of numbered films. the rian Johnson trilogy will either be about the child at the end of this film or possibly the old republic.
Fred Garvin there is probably not gonna be a 10-12, they didnt announce that atleast. There is gonna be a whole new trilogy directed by Rian.
I heard its not going to be a strait remake of the knights of the old republic story line. it could be set in the old republic and be about the mandalorian war that happened or it could be about other people in the modern day learning that they have force powers.
I wouldn't even mind Luke dying if it wasn't so lackluster it should've been done in episode 9 at least
player 3 productions the new series Rian Johnson is making is about stuff never before seen in the galaxy, another part of the galaxy no one knows about.
HelloGreedo's new baby will be born with a First Order helmet on.
Big Seltzer Owns Secular Talk That would be extremely painful for the mother... good lord
Mate Bruv Then the mother is the New Republic...
Rest in peace Admiral Ackbar
Manny Garcia he died????

Congratulations Hello Greedo.
Can you relax dude😂 let the man joke around lol
It was not even a joke. It was a lame attempt at a joke. Dude.
Michael Matero - There's always one.
It might have been a teensy funny. ...nah.
izstaria Celeste Your feels....
Rose fucked an amazing scene up. At the end when Fin was flying into the beam I was ready for his death I thought it would give the movie some great weight and would give fin an honorable send off, but then comes rose who fucks it all up, that beautiful scene ruined. I don't know but that scene really pissed me off
People threw their hands up in frustration when that happened. It was so dumb! And then the line she said afterwards made me cringe so hard.
Matthew Amaya everyone clapped in my theatre...
yes, she fucked up Finn(his intentions as a person), but in a way that Finn was as fustrated as the audience.
And, apart from that, she told us a lesson(or at least tried)
leia looked like marry popins flying through space.
What happens when someone strong with the Force try to "Force Pull" Something Stronger or Heavier than them????????
The General Leia Saving herself Scene. She wasn't Flying...... She's Literally "Force Pulling" herself back to the ship...... However, that scene could have CGI_ed Better.
SHE'S MARY POPPINS Y'ALL
I didn’t hate it but i have to admit when i saw it i was like “well that’s just silly”
Leia didn't fly she force pulled.......
Lollll
Stefan Bittihn if you watch the movie again, youll noticed that its as if she did it without knowing it..she barely open her eyes, and she doesnt look at the ship either...its like a survival reflex, as if the force took over to save her or something...thats also why she was unconscious right after that
And she didnt stay long enough in space to die, so the breathing part was not a problem...specially for a force user like her
I saw the movie for the 3rd time already, and i can honestly say that it gets better and better everytime, theres so many things that we miss or wont get right with only one viewing, thats a movie that has to be viewed multiple times to be fully appreciated
Either way it still felt cheap.
Erick Gaudreault LMAO
You don't just die instantly if you stop breathing. In fact people with sleep apnea stop breathing when they are asleep. The brain realizes it is starving of oxygen and reflexively wakes you up so that you can breathe again.
Kylo Ren is like an onion...He has layers...
Graelyth kylo ren is shrek, confirmed!

What Luke did with the lightsaber.. I think Rian Johnson did the same thing with JJ's notes.
psshhh.... what notes?!
Daniel A. let's not forget what Rian did to me.
Snoke's decaying torso lmaoooo
Pete Lunn im pretty sure JJ knows what Rian was gonna do before he started filming
1000 degree Resistance ship vs. Star Destroyer
My two favourite parts of this film were Kylo and Rey taking on the Praetorian guards and the hyperspace collision.
Also I loved how Snoke was a complete dupe, bet that was Lucasfilm agreeing that all Snoke theories suck
The Leia “Mary Poppins” scene was the most awkward thing to watch.
The hyperspace collision was dumb. Like, why has nobody tried that before?
I personally didn't really care about the Snoke theories. That being said, why the hell would they build him up as this dark, mysterious and powerful figure and then suddenly just throw him out the window? This is the man who is responsible for EVERYTHING that has happened in the sequels, from corrupting Ben, to establishing and leading the First Order. I face palmed so hard during that scene.
BoT_Renegade there will be a “Snoke” book soon, I guarantee
It may have been done with smaller vessels. However, considering how many high power weapons exist in SW, overlooking this option most of the time isn't unlikely.
The casino sequence took me out for a bit. It was WAY too similar to Earth and you kinda think to yourself “Oh yea, I’m watching Star Wars.”
Damn those were literally my thoughts too. What Jedi devilry is this?
It reminded me of Harry Potter. It didn't feel like Star Wars.
I got a Harry Potter vibe too, but I couldn't remember which scene it was until you just said :)
IsaiahChavezCA what reeeeaaally threw me off... was that the money wasn't credits!
I didn’t feel that way
if leia did die, then we would not have had the twins reunion. I am fine having one sour grape if it leads to a nice wine.
Apparently, this is NOT the first time someone flew threw space using the force. That honor belongs to our wayward padawan friend Kanan Jarrus.
Oscar Isaac's performance stood out. Everytime he was on screen he stole the scene. I really enjoyed this movie.
Mark Hamill and Adam Driver as well
That clothes iron, though. I couldn't stop laughing for the rest of the film.
Same, that was amazing. :D
Hardware Wars Reference?
Poirot's Mustache and I didn't laugh at it at all. What's so funny about it lol?? It was weird and out of place
Hated that scene... really dividing people. Some love it, some hate it...
When that scene started I thought to myself “Why does that ship look like a clothes iron?” and sure enough...
Yep, I cringed at Leia Force pulling herself, also if you pay attention to the kid at the end (to me at least) he force pulls the broom towards him.
Stickbar Gaming Yes he is force sensitive. Can become a Jedi or Sith! Very interesting!
Stickbar Gaming tbf Luke did it before in the EU
The biggest wtf in the film for me.
Yep, he definitely used the force, it seems that most people missed it
GTFOH. Do u know what the word "cringy" means...people now days use this word out of context way too much. If you thought the scene was bad, then say it was bad. It's certainly not cringy tho lol. I thought it was fuckin fantastic and chilling but understand some people are against it.
Sir greedo, how do I send you my edit of TLJ? I think you'll enjoy.
Oh hey, I love your channel
The very end scene looked like a Target Star Wars advert, it looked so cheap.
Kind of. I like how it shows there's still Force-sensitives out there but it should not have ended on that kid.
The Rabbit Twitches exactly. The idea is great. And bold too, moving away from lineage. But the execution, OMG (the kids looked like the orphans from the movie Hook - thought there they fit perfectly with look and feel of the movie)
Paulo Henrique Piovesan
Correct. It was a bit much with that kid.
Rey took the book tho... ~Nothing the girl doesn`t have~ Yoda (Finn shows it in the Falcon)
Gustenz; my son and I missed the idea that Rey took the books and put them in the Falcon. Thanks.
I missed that too actually.
Gustenz I hope force ghost Luke in the next movie pimp slaps Rey for stealing the books. That would be a funny scene.
i hated that leia-superman scene.
You don’t understand film making hahaha.
well here is the thing when they shot that scene they didnt expect carrie fisher to die and had plans for her character in episode 9
I love how people complain about the physics with Leia in space. I get that people think it’s stupid, but....we’re also watching movies that have lasers in space and explosions in space. Why is this important? Because since there’s no oxygen in space there’s no sound in space for lasers and explosions.
My might as well give the prequels a pass too since it has lasers and in space.
Was so happy when I thought Rose died. But then she lived... and I let out a darth Vader’s “NOOOOOOOOOOOO”
Rose was great.
Jool Why do you hate Rose? I thought she was charming.
Madman She is so sweet. ♡ But her sister was more beautiful and sexy so what I saw.
I liked Rose
Oh the irony. Two of the most intriguing characters, Snoke and Luke, die and the shit diversity hire character lives on.
I think Leia should have stayed dead from the bridge bit at the start
jep, would have been perfect. Like an ice princess in space forever... but NO: MARRY POPPINS!!!
Zcahh So do I. Only one of many Deus Ex Machina moments in the film.
I think Ackbar should've drove the kamikaze lightspeed ship
At least give that great character some sort of heroic end, rather than wasting his death. Granted, wasting deaths iis all this movie had. Snoke was an absolute waste, Ackbar, and Luke. None of them really had much meaning or much of a point. I have to say, this was the first Star Wars movie I walked out of and was quite disappointed with.
"And failure, yes failure. The greatest teacher, failure is" "We are what they grow beyond, that is the true burden of all masters"
And thats not supposed to be the theme of learn from your failures in the original trilogy? Becuase what ep 7 and 8 tell us is all the efforts and lessons learned in the earlies movies where for nothing and now the heroes had to learn something they already knew time ago
@@fernandohernandezalmanza2232 get a life
@@o...o4144 “hey, i think you’re wrong a here’s why”

that’s so lame of you lmao
Made a theory about something that I have not seen on Reddit yet, spoilers below
I notice that people are upset about Snoke's death at the hands of Kylo, but I think it was actually very important.
Snoke was like "yes, I'm all powerful, I see your thoughts, I can never be wrong and will never lose"
Kylo was like "nup, just doing two things at once and fooling your old decrepit generic villian arse"
"This is what you get for trying to manipulate me into getting Rey for you to kill when I want to turn her, and also for picking on me for not being Vader and losing to her in TFA"
pretty sure they will release a book or comic about the backstory of Snoke, like they did for Phasma.
We may. Don't you think that if Leia could use the Force to not get killed being sucked out into space, then Snoke can use the Force more so to regenerate himself. Remember that Darth Maul did not die from the same injury.
I say get rid of DJ and replace him with Lando.
Alex Reppert but except Lando doesn’t betray them. He wouldn’t do that again
Why would Lando betray his friends again?
Could you imagine lando approaching from the darkness😂 that would have been SO GREAT!
Alex Reppert Lando can save his dignity.
That man is too old for this shit.
I gotta add a few extra problems:
- Luke's X-wing was shown in the water and then ignored.
Up until you realize he was never there at all only reason the ship was in the film I think
there was build up to it, that entire, awful casino scene was there so those two would be close... I didnt like it, but it was there.
I don't mind unanswered questions myself. They're not ideal but it's underwhelming explanations that really piss me off
2. Fuck Snoke, who cares
3. That's the point.
4. Undecided.
the x-wing is there to hint at Luke not wanting to leave the island.
i cried when chewie was piloting the falcon through the crystals and rey was sitting in the gunner, and the original john williams score was playing, man the was a chill buster
One of the few scenes from the movie that gives us chills. It's unfortunate that the movie sucks as whole.
Anyone can say what they want about the movie, but no one can deny that that scene with Chewie flying the falcon was awesome.
Roman Valens definitely that scene, yoda, and luke and leia were the old school chill grinders
@@IndianaHenryJones20 eh no it's a good film
I love how Yoda says there’s nothing in the tree that Rey doesn’t already have... because she took the books beforehand, dead for decades and still the greatest troll in the whole jedi order.
That's why Yoda can get away with his grammar.
Alejandro Lino I cried
I got chills
I loved the movie, I know it seems I'm in the minority but I found it to be a masterpiece, that scene was pure poetry
Good moment, I agree, just didn’t like the writing that led up to it.
Alejandro Lino SAME HERE PAL! 😫😱😓😥
Matthew Hill finn and leia bits bugged me. Kylo didn't, didn't want him to go to the light
Matthew Hill for Finn and Leia, heres how I'd fix it
Finn is not saved by Rose, he instead turns around last minute after hearing poe screaming down the radio and realising its too late, only to be saved by Rey and Chewy in the Falcon who shoot the AT-AT that is targeting Finn as he trues to get back to the base.
Leia and Admiral Holdo do a switch and she has the death she deserved, also with none of that stupid space wizardry in the beginning
GenericRUclipsNameHD That all sounds good to me.
Duilio Murai She did tell Poe the plan. He still thought his was better.
He discovered by himself that she was fueling the smaller ships but she didn't told him the whole plan (the planet with an abandoned rebel base where they could hide), Leia did and he was totally fine with it.
Duilio Murai Ackbar died.
Yes, they wasted his death.
Way too much humor, especially in pivotal moments.
there really wasn't
Joseph Cauchi There was a lot.......
I noticed it more in The Force Awakens, except the opening scene
I'd make one change to the film:
Replace Rose and Finns act and use the good 30 minutes of the film for more Luke rey stuff and a small act that showed a galactic scope and the effect episode 7 had on the galaxy.
Maybe some smoke background (plagueis...)
But oh well, I didn't mind the film, I just feel like some prequel/ galaxy wide style element should be encompassed (as even the originals missed that)
Lot of people hating on this for reasons like snoke not having a backstory, and Rey’s parents not being anyone important, because that’s what they wanted. A lot of people went into this film looking for the answers to this shit, but personally I could care less. So for me this movie was very enjoyable. Because I wasn’t focusing on all these shitty theories being answered.
Spartan- 1337 yeah, got me chill watch this
@Spartan- 1337 Probably for fun and engagement like movies should be? I tend to agree, I don't put that much stock in nostalgia and alot of the arguments people have made for why the movie is bad, I enjoyed it for what it was: different.
Also when Palpitine died you didn't know how backstory till the prequels
How=his
I was super pleased with that as well.
A big hole in the story.
jeanloui7
Snoke isn't dead. They don't call him the puppeteer for nothing, lol.
Let the theories begin!
Django CS GO I agree with you. It's not the last we'll see of Snoke.
People are just impatient, I suppose.
Honestly the finn and rose thing is dumb, Finn is obviously into Rey.
Who else saw Gareth Edwards ??
I was like," hay, the guy who directed Rouge One!"
Mati Marambio I'll have to look a second time. Where was he?
Mati Marambio I did
Here here
Ryan Keefe In Crait, when a soldier is in the trench and someone walks in front of him, next to the one in the trench is Edwards
looking forward to a fans edit with the casino planet scenes cut out
Jay Paul I liked the design of the casino planet personally
Canto Bight isn't bad, it's the story arc there that is made badly. They should have focused more on the whole "Grey" area of the war, since TLJ was built up to be the "Grey" movie.
Just watch ivan ortagas fan edit.
Leia flying through space sounds too disney
BobaFett Network I had a image of Han saying... "That's not how the force works" lol
BobaFett Network Didn't something like that already happened both in Canon and Legends?
What is Disney about it? That’s literally a nonsense term that doesn’t exist other than to bitch and moan
It was a little corny. I really didn’t like that part
it's so refreshing to hear a point of view that isnt kicking and screaming about how the movie is bad.
the movie definitely gets much better upon a second viewing, having an idea of where it is going and what the different stuff is and also having an opinion already in place of "is this good, is this bad or is this ok?" it opens the mind and allows you to see the movie a bit clearer.
the fan reaction is what annoys me, people complained that TFA was too similar to a new hope and that Rey was overpowered, now that it is trying it's original ideas and making Rey definitively not a mary sue people are mad because it didnt do what it wanted them to do. they dont want a troubled and broken luke they just want the amazing paragon of jedi luke or that they didnt learn everything there is to know about characters like snoke who dont require all this backstory (HG's Tomato sketch is brilliant).
people have lost sight of what star wars is - it's a fun goofy space romp (bit less light hearted then that but point stands) and people are treating it like this amazing serious space drama created for nerds who know everything about everyone, the people have forgotten star wars is for everyone - especially the kids.
and congrats Greedo on becoming a parent! (soon)
mobbles1 Exactly the fan base ruins the films
It's almost like the star wars films didn't need sequels, and anything they do messes with the perfectly rapped up arc of the original trilogy.
mobbles1 if you want to live in echo chamber, go ahead.
Timothy McGaw I agree with you, on a side note I also think it was visually stunning, tha casino and the aliens were amazing
Even Empire had a strange middling half with no direction.
you are right, they needed a way to grow all those characters, and that sloppy mess of a sequence was apparently the best they could do.
Congratulations greedo! So happy for you and your wife! Wish you guys the very best!
They should have cut out the haldo character. She was completely pointless. Should have been leia.
ackbar, even the same lines as holdo, but ackbar
riedstep I liked her, but BY GOD IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN LEIA. PERFECT SENDOFF.
How would they know she would be dying?
Also why the fuck is she Laura Dern in a shitty wig? Like, it just feels so weird to me that it’s Laura Dern. I don’t understand why it could’ve been any other actor
Porky Pig on crack. Tttttthats allll folks!
The Casino Scene was terrible
Daniel Espinal Yea I agree
It was entertaining but did nothing for the movie really, Rose and Finn coulda gone directly to the ship, Rose hacks some shit while Finn keeps watch and thats it.
I did like how they linked the kids to the end of the movie as the future hope which can come from nobodies just like Rey, just that message saved it for me.
Yeah it was pretty shitty. I was expecting that scene to play out way differently.
They should have gone to Bespin, where Lando would actually appear and maybe he’s Finn’s father?
I have watched a ton of reviews but when I saw that you had a review out I wanted to watch it because I knew you would have different more interesting input than a regular RUclipsr. Love your videos and congrats on the baby girl!
You do know that Yoda was playing Luke as he knew Rey had already removed the books right? It shows them in the falcon near the end. Look for it in your second showing
eddieharr there is nothing there that Rey does not already possess!
they killed ackbar goddamit!
no idea friend..

I have a painting of ackbar in my room i’m gonna make a memorial
good idea.
Dustin Caldwell no it doesnt havent weeks or anything it legit happens right after literaly righr after TFA like maybe 30 mins after if anything but do agree and Leia surviving like that was interesting but needed to be better way to do it
Thanks, confused myself. Also some advice, commas and full stops are good things.
Leon Artmann what was so wrong with Leia using the force to survive
10:08 Actually, I remember Rey making the towel comment at the beginning of the scene. The introspective stuff came afterwards.
Darth Maul in episode 1: we know nothing about him, then he dies - bad
Supreme leader snoke in episode 7-8: we know nothing about him, then he dies - good?
+T H I C C sheev Exactly. It is a part of Kylo's arc. I love it!
well the thing with maul is they never set him up to be a big powerful bad guy but they did with snoke in my opinion they should've waited until the begging of episode 9 to kill him
i was hype about those resistance bombers... aaaaand all of them just blow up in the start... great
Miuku Mauku the bombers were a plot point in a story about Poe' s character.
Richard Dixon yeah, but i was a little disappointed because i am a huge fan of ww2 bombers. And all of them just explode in the start.
Miuku Mauku Yeah I would of been sad if they all survived.
Yoda didnt burn the books, he did that so luke doesnt see that rey took them. At the end of the movie u can see rey stole the books.
Lord Vader when ?? Which scene? I did not see them
When Finn grabs a blanket for Rose at the end. You can see the books clear as day.
If empire came out today everyone would complain about the myloc scene and the ugnauts throwing c3po around when we should be seeing more of Luke and Yoda. Time will show that those problems you have with last Jedi aren't problems
empire was complained bout when it came out anyway
Yeah a shit nonsensical plot isn't a problem, you are right.
FasolatiWhitamen I disliked this movie but l love the original due to this movie ripping alot from it
As soon as I saw the scene revealing Rey's parents, I immediately thought "ooh! HelloGreedos gonna like that" ;D
Same!
same lol
Love this movie 9/10
Neo Nightwing love your sarcasm 10/10
I would agree
I'd put it more around a 7/10
Same I thought the movie was brilliant, I could've done without the corny jokes as much but it was great overall
They Darthed maul snoke
fridge_party sorry I was really tired when I typed that
Battlelines HQ Kind of. I've still got mixed feelings about it
JUST SUBSCRIBED! I'm so glad someone else picked up on that awesome DJ line! :)
I liked it more after thinking about it than when I just watched it. It took me some time to realise that they didn't play it safe and took some risks. Which I loved when I think about it. Could've probably done without the casino bs. There was a lot of moving parts to follow in this one but need to watch it again before ranking it against other films
Reegz i agree. It was the same for me. After a rewatch and some time thinking about it I could decide how I felt about it.
Gotcha!”
IsaiahChavezCA
That's what I was thinking in this film. I was like "They can kill Leia this early" and also was super devastated when Finn was driving into the Ram Cannon. I just like all the risks the film took.
By the time Finn was trying to sacrifice himself I has figured this director out. He loved faking us out. Finn was not in danger for a second.
you really thought Luke would go out that way? lol.
Especially that Leia fakeout, I was going "....They did NOT."
Does anyone notice that the "I GOT A BAD FEELING ABOUT THIS" moment is not in the movie?...That sucks!!
Tomorrow we riot.
Jim Rayno can someone explain to me Godspeed as well as it confused me too, like wtf God exists in SW universe now? Which God?
ketchupkatsup I also have this question
Side plots should’ve been cut. Movie was too long
Just what I and other I know thought. This is one SW movie that deserves a special edition re-cut in the future.
Congratulations Greedo.
I just took my oldest son, 5, to his first Star Wars theater showing. Proud Dad moment for me.
Hopefully your daughter will be able to have that experience
From my point of view, the Disney are evil.
Darren Giles Bloody lost bro
You are not alone
Obviously:)What's most dispicable & sinister is how they isolated&killed off Han Solo&Luke Skywalker.....
From a certain point of view...
Darren Giles THEN YOU ARE RIGHT ( insert Kenobi)
Things that could make the movie so much better:
1) Cut the sub plot with finn. Please.
2) Kill Leia, not because I want it to happen, but because it needs to
3) Cut out 75% of the jokes
4) Have Finn die to save the rebels, only to have them die anyway
5) Have Rey and Kylo join the "grey" side
I thought they Leia force pulling scene was an awesome idea, and maybe it would’ve been better executed had Carrie Fisher been around for reshoots, but they were kind of forced to use it as it was.
I feel like it would have worked better if she wound up pulling the ship towards herself, or something that didn't look so.... superhero-ish.
the idea was ok, but its execution was awful. it should have been her seemingly lifeless body floating back to the ship, maybe some eye movement, maybe let us be confused by who is actually saving her. is she doing it herself? is it Luke? is it Kylo?
I know how I would fix 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi'.
Here's my version of the movie (just a warning, it will be long):
The film starts off with Rey approaching Luke Skywalker, handing him his old lightsaber, only to throw it over the cliff.
Goddamn that’s actually pretty good
finn and rey had like no lines together, nothing. NOTHING.
Harmless Critter yea I don't remember a thing just the hug at the end
I am for Finn and Ray
Reylo all the way
I think they should have killed off Finn. Like phasma shoulda killed him. It would show that phasma is actually a good character and does somethin. Rey would have to deal with Finns death goin into episode 9 and would have to control anger of him dying and peace.
