Why Scoot Plus is (SOMETIMES!) Worth it: Premium Economy Review

  • In this video, we will review the premium economy cabin class with Scoot Airlines, known as Scoot Plus on two flights from Sydney to Singapore, with a connection on to Tokyo.
This is a very different experience to a full-service airline in that the premium cabin does not serve any premium food or drinks. However, the size of the seat is almost as large and the comfort levels good for what is a relatively cheap price.
However, whether this is worth the cost or not depends heavily on how you purchase your scoot+ ticket. There are three options that we will discuss in this video:
    1. Buy at point of sale (expensive!)
    2. Upgrade pre-flight (much cheaper)
    3. Upgrade on the flight (cheaper again, but less certain)
We think that this makes it one of the most attainable premium cabin experiences for the average passenger.

I have flown Scoot Plus on two flights Perth to Athens and Perth to Berlin. The experience onboard was good, not great but good, well worth the extra price for the extra room. My only complaint is the poor connections in Singapore, on both flights we had very long lay overs in Singapore.

I agree with the good, not great summary.... And much better than the economy alternative. I was must have been lucky with the layover!

      Regarding Scoot economy flight booking:
      1. can we carry some food items?
      2. is bagpack (personal item bag) also included in the weight allowance? OR both the luggage/cabin trolley bag and bagpack/personal item bag considered in weight allowance?
      3. It is my first flight. Are the bags weighed when we have to board the flight or early on so that after weighing we can eat something at the airport and, probably, buy some food items to take with us on the flight?

Thanks for the review, I am thinking of taking Scoot Plus to Sydney from Singapore due to back pain. Yet want to travel on a budget compard to Singapore airline premium economy. Does the custom ask for vaccine certificate now? Thanks

You will definitely be more comfortable than economy but the experience will not compare to Singapore PE. I guess it depends on the price difference and the budget you have to determine if it is worth it.... I suspect that avoiding back pain would be very worthwhile!

    Regarding Scoot economy flight booking:
    4. The personal item bag dimensions mentioned by my both airlines are quite small 40cm x 20cm x 10cm. Is this very strict or can I carry my normal sized bagpack as personal item bag which is about 150% (1.5x) of this?
    5. Can an overnighter trolley bag (44cm x 44cm x 23 cm = 111cm) fit in the overhead compartment? Can I carry this bag as my carry on cabin luggage with Scoot economy?

I just had a regular backpack so can’t comment on the leniency of the crew. I suspect that most of the time you would be ok, but it would depend on the staff there on the day.

Couldn't beat it for the space you get and I thought it was good value. Not a luxury experience but way better than economy I thought.
