  • Airlines nowadays try all kinds of gimmicks to get you to pay more, but are some of these upgraded seats maybe even worth it? Economy plus, Premium Select, Club Economy, etc. are all names of classes between economy and business class. Flying in one of these seats offers perks like more legroom, upgraded food, a table cloth, complimentary beverages, and priority boarding. #flying #upgrade #businessclass

The older I get the more I think I’m worth the extra $$. I think about all the $$ I spent for my boys sports camps, trainers, equipment. (Still have 1 more at home) so YES - spend a little on the parents to enjoy the finer (roomier) things.

Great video! I just flew on Delta and United first class seats on domestic flights. I've only flown economy so it was a very different experience. What I LOVED more than anything were the priority security process and onboarding. While waiting to board, we heard an announcement that warned that there will not be ample headroom to stow all the carry-on baggage. The airline was looking for volunteers to check their luggage for free. I didn't worry because we had the guarantee of overhead space. The bells/whistles of a larger bathroom, choice of meals, offer to hang up our coats in their closet, etc. were nice too.

OMG love you!!! Thank you for providing your great cruise level reviews on flights! Honestly a lot of the flight review peeps just have insane expectations so very good to have a realistic view. For me biggest reason why I actually pay the extra for premium economy (I do go business for europe -asia / oceania flights but hell NO for 8h or below) - I have a bit of agoraphobia and my girls are big so having the space between me and other people is really appreciated. - And yes for premium economy bulkhead is usually not a good deal, 2nd row is better

Great video! I’ve flown all 3 classes to Europe from LAX with Skyteam airlines plus BA and I wholeheartedly believe it’s worth the money for more space and recline if you have the points or can afford the price.
As for business class its amazing and I was well rested upon arrival. Premium economy IMHO is a great balance of price and comfort features and I plan to budget for premium for all future long haul flights.
I appreciate his intention of gaining additional status with KLM as I was able to reach Delta Gold for 2023 and it puts me in Sky Priority regardless of my class of flight. Shorter lines better care and access to some alliance member lounges are totally worth it for anyone who flies often.

Thank you for the post. I had my husband and I booked in comfort+ from Atlanta to Toyoko for a trip to Okinawa we're going on soon, and he convinced me to upgrade to premium select. It is a nice way to start a vacation and I like that we are one row behind what you have as, like you, I like to store my carry-on under my seat. I also like that we are sitting on the right of the plane with only two seats -- a window and aisle seat. I'm so curious about what we'll experience so I appreciate your post!

Thanks for the review. We fly long haul from Australia to USA which is 15 hours. I refused to fly economy after the first few trips and tried Premium Economy … then convinced my wife to do Business Class … whilst Business was fantastic, the enormous cost makes it hard to justify. We are trying out Delta Premium Select for our next trip and know that for the two of us, having the bulkhead just helps with getting past each other and no seat in front problems. Happy flying everyone

Premium Select sucks balls. I've flown on all of the 3 PE's - AF, DL and KL and KL is the best PE product by far. DL's PS is absolute junk these days. Was pretty good when it first came out but they stripped it of everything premium except the premium you pay.

In my opinion there are several big advantages to flying in business class. First off the shorter lines in the airport and the business/first lounge and it seems the personnel working in those areas just seem to treat you better. The airport first/business lounges vary in quality and amenities but there is always ample amounts of food from snacks to hot meals, beverages of all kinds, and comfortable places to sit and relax. Usually the bigger the airport the better the lounge is.
I always fly on United and their business class seats are pretty nice especially on the 787 aircraft. I am almost 6'6" tall. On the bulkhead seat in business the area for your feet is a little larger than the other seats in business. At my height I can recline the seat completely flat and the front of the seat raises to the level of a padded 'shelf' in the bulkhead and it can accommodate my long legs and large feet with a couple of inches to spare. The seat also has an adjustment on the middle of the length to provide a comfortable angle under your knees if you desire. In addition, there is a pretty sizeable storage compartment on a shelf on the bulkhead which will easily accommodate a briefcase or small back pack or travel bag. There is also a little storage cupboard and generous shelf on one side of every seat.
Most airlines business section have a maximum of 30 to 40 seats and at least two flight attendants. Compare that to the economy section on a large aircraft with 200-300 passengers and 4-6 flight attendants to attend to the passengers.
Another huge plus in business is the amount of privacy. A few of the seats don't have any neighboring seat next to it. Even if the seats are in pairs they are still 'walled off' so you don't see your neighbor generally. Some configurations have a sliding wall to open your cubicle so if you are traveling with a partner you can see and talk to them. The bulkhead seats are near the toilets and galley but with the walls around your seat and the depth of the bulkhead I never noticed the extra activity. The last time I flew on a transatlantic flight in a United 787 I had seat 1A. It was in the front row with a bulkhead in front of the seat, on the window and a single seat. The way the walls were arranged I had to lean forward and crane my neck around the wall to see anyone else in the cabin. Whether sitting normally or fully reclined I had complete privacy and I slept like a baby for more than 6 hours.
The higher cabin pressure and higher humidity level of the air in the 787 is very comfortable and you don't get that funky feeling you normally get from a long flight in other aircraft. The flight attendants attentively see to your every need, the beverages are of a better quality and the food is better. The final advantage of flying business id that on short connecting flights there is only economy and first class. So if you fly business class you get a first class seat. The seats are normal seats but more comfortable and the leg room is generous and often if there are 3 seats in a row, the middle sat is blocked and has a little table across the arm rests with ample room to share it with the other seat.
In short, at my height and my age (67) it is absolutely worth the extra money to fly in business. I have been flying transatlantic and transpacific flights since 1970. Back in the day economy was reasonably comfortable. But over the years the seats and leg room have slowly gotten smaller and smaller. I have spent too many years crammed into economy seats on 10-14 hour flights and I've had enough of that. I am willing to pay a high price for the comfort and extra service nowadays, I earned it and I deserve it. You should try it but I warn you, you will get spoiled and you will never want to travel in the 'cattle class' again!

So I treated myself to an early Christmas present. When i checked the pricing to upgrade when the tickets were purchased it was over 500$. If you are willing to gamble, you might want to wait til check in? My ad was google ads.

Being a tall chap, I only travel premium economy (or higher) on long haul, for the leg room alone. Having traveled between Europe and the states on economy a couple of times - every time was 10 hour+ of sheer hell in economy for me as a struggled, twisted and boxed in as my legs would be crushed by the seat in front. On the handful of occasions that I have been very fortunate to fly business class, with a a fully flat based, that is something else altogether and real luxury.

The end of this video was EXACTY what I was looking for. I’m trying to decide if Delta One is worth the price, and hearing your wrap up about the legrest being a joke and the recline didn’t improve your ability to sleep was exactly what I was looking for. I am not one who can sleep easy in a sitting position and the last long haul flight I took (in comfort plus) I got very motion sick and felt extremely claustrophobic.
I think I’ll just have to pay the Delta One fare going forward or no more international travel for me.
Thank you for the informative (and funny) video!

We are planned to go to Spain in august (I say planned because I don’t want to tempt fate- I’ve cancelled so much lately) and we are travelling business so that should up our avios too .

Seems to me like I am the person that always has someone putting their chair back as far as they can the minute they can then the claustrophia sets in.

The JFK->Manila leg (12 hours) the seats screen would not come out of the seat. So they moved me to Business Class seat soon after take-off. THat was a bonus! Interesting that they allowed you in priority lane on first leg. I’ve usually only been given it for the leg I’ve purchased. Did you get any baggage allowance? If it makes $$ sense I try to do first leg upgrade because then my checked bags are included - just depends on the cost. I find I don’t like bulkhead seats either mainly because I like to have my backpack under the seat in front of me and sometimes there are restrooms right by the bulkhead and people tend to gather and wait in line there at times.

I prefer to do Delta Comfort+ on flights, usually premium economy is not an option on the flights I book domestically in the US. You get on earlier and it says you are supposed to have guaranteed overhead bin space above your seat. I have a 4 wheel rolling carry-on and a matching backpack that is my personal item. The carry-on goes in the overhead and the backpack goes under the seat. Works great and definitely beats checking bags when going on a cruise. I have only had one problem with overhead on Comfort+, a very young pilot (he was not on duty) was able to board before me and not only took my window seat, but also took up the entire overhead bin with all of his bags. I got to my seat and he looked up at me and said "Oh, did you want the window seat?" I replied "No, that is ok, I can take the aisle seat. But I am a bit bummed that you took up the entire overhead bin." He replied "Sorry, I don't get home very often so I travel with a few extra carry-ons."

I’m ‘5’ “11” so while I’m not really tall I’m also not short & legroom on flights can be an issue sometimes so if I ever flew to Europe again this is something I’d try because for someone my height that could make a big difference.

We flew Premium Economy with Air Canada to London last year and would agree, that even though we appreciated the extras, it was not worth TWICE the price. That being said, we are doing it again, but in Economy with British Air next week. When we get back we will have to decide how we will go next year. We hope our Economy experience will not be so bad that we opt for Premium again, but it might be. Thanks for all your reviews.

Morgan, I haven't flown international in like, EVER. So when I fly within the United States, there is no Premium Select option. We do, however, always fly American's Main Cabin Extra, which allows us a tad more leg room in the front of the Coach class section (hubby is 6'2"), first bag checked for free, and sort of earlier boarding (with bulkhead space reserved for MCE). The price increase over Economy is worth it, considering the cost of checking a bag on American, which is included in the cost of the upgraded coach ticket. Our 2nd airline of choice is Southwest, which is all Coach and free checked bags, so it depends on our travel route. Sadly, Delta has a poor flight schedule out of our main airport, Philadelphia, so we are "stuck" with American. Seems like Southwest has become less favorable to Philly passengers as their routes are less direct and I hate changing planes unless flying cross country (we always fly direct to Fort Lauderdale, Florida). I wish Delta flew more flights out of Philly that didn't connect through Atlanta, and Jet Blue isn't that much better either. Only Delta is the top-ranked US-based carrier so we're stuck. Oh well. I don't see your ads during the vlog because I have RUclips Premium. 😁

American doesn’t have customer service. This is especially missed when flying back and forth to Australia. We now fly southwest and switch
One has to go to the international terminal anyway AND we don’t pay for bags on the way over. In addition, cancelling or rescheduling is sooo much easier.
Speaking from 10+ years of American Airlines screwups.

Just booked a Delta flight from Cincy to Paris with return from Munich to Detroit and we paid the extra. Hopefully we will be as impressed as we were with BA. Delta used to upgrade you to Domestic First, for all PE international flights, but now they don't sadly. Domestic First Class seats are a bit wider, with larger arm shared rest.

We've found that in general, international flights in Premium Economy have usually cost about double what standard economy would be. My opinion after using it on several airlines is that it is not worthwhile on a 2 hour domestic flight or within Europe. However, on the long haul flights from Europe to the US, definitely worthwhile if you can afford it. The increased seat comfort on a 10 hour flight matters!

Hi Morgan. I have been on a business class ferry before from Singapore to Batam(Indonesia). And that's the only business class I have been on🤣! Its a bigger sit than normal and they gave unlimited free drinks and there was only my family on the whole business class section🤣! So was lots of fun.. and we got that upgrade for free as it was an promotion.. but would love to travel on a business class flight soon though ♥️

They (this was Iceland Air) upgraded me because of a run-about they have given me. It was lovely because I need butt room more than leg room. I felt so bad though, they offered me prosecco (I have reflux so I can't have that) and then the meals came around and they had tomato on them and I'm allergic. So there I was in the top seats, drinking water and eating Instant noodles out of the peasant menu LOL.

Have flown the Delta A330 AMS to Salt Lake City (10.5 hours) multiple times - like the Comfort + product (2 seats on the side) much better than the Premium Select which was $500 more per person. Did not find the seat particularly more comfortable and the food was typically awful. Next flights i am happily booked in Comfort +.

The advert was for Coach. Geared to 20somethings. Economy plus works fine for me on international flights. I am around 6' 2" so definitely appreciate the extra legroom. Don't really have the budget for more than that honestly. All the things you mentioned like the attendants calling you by name is cool but not worth the money at least to me.

I've flown on more Delta One Suites than I can count and while the seat becomes flat, it's HARD. Like sleeping on the carpet with no cushion HARD. I've never been able to get more than 1 hour sleep in the "suite". This was my primary reason for exploring Premium Select. But from the seat comfort perspective, it sounds like it's almost the same as economy for someone who's below 6ft.

We flew Delta Premium select economy round trip to/from Amsterdam from Atlanta. We would have been better off in Comfort plus. The footrest which only raised your feet a little didn’t work and took up space on floor in front of you. My travel buddy had the window seat and when the people in front of us reclined, she was basically stuck in her seat the ENTIRE flight. The snacks were supposed to be special. They weren’t. Meals might have been slightly better

I'm flying united in the fall to Singapore from Vancouver via San Fran to go on Celebrity Edge downunder. The basic economy was $1500 and their Economy plus was $12000. I could have got a first class ticket for $8000. It was insane. Maybe because I have 2 one way tickets. But still. The flight back is from OZ. I guess I will survive in economy for 15-16 hours. At lease my TA got me an upgrade to Aqua Class for $300 from a normal balcony. I think that's worth the extra cost. With my tips costing that.

As a above average (height and “pleasantly plump”) I would love a bulk head seat. I flew to Germany in economy and I swear I could have done a root job on the person who was in front with the seat reclined the whole flight. I don’t know how much I would be willing to pay to get it, but I would rather stare at a wall.

I generally travel Delta Comfort+ when flying to Europe, but in May I was in Premium Economy. I was looking forward to the footrest, but I couldn’t figure out how to work it. And none of the flight attendants had a clue. We didn’t get paper menus OR seat operation instructions. It wasn’t until halfway through the 9-hour flight that I finally got the footrest to work.
I would not pay extra for Premium. Comfort+ is okay, although I’d love a lie-flat seat on the outward leg.

Maybe twice in Premium Econ, the FA apologized for using plastic cups because they don't have enough glasswear for longer flights. This was trans-pac though.

It seems worth it, sometimes just for “more room” you can pay $80.00 …a couple hundred and you get better boarding, points, food, recline, foot rest, blanket etc….for a long haul flight why not….the difference in cost between coach and premium select seems ok…but…..1st class often is price restrictive..

I, like you, would value the points more than the rest of the perks. I'm fine in an aisle coach seat (and I've spent my time being upgraded to the more premium classes, so I know the difference). I will not pay for a higher class. Just me, I don't think it's worth the price.

  • @stellawiltshire8007
    @stellawiltshire8007 11 месяцев назад

The major perk for me is the s-p-a-c-e....I really dislike sitting extremely close to people...I had an extemely uncomfortable flight on Southwest recently...due to weather I had to switch to SW from Delta and of course since it was last minute I got the infamous middle seat and was one of the last people to board...the only seat available to me had a extemely fluffy person next to the window, they had the armrest up when I went to sit down they overhung my seat so much that they couldnt put the armrest down...I squeezed into the seat that was left for me and crossed my arms over my chest so I wasnt overflowing into the aisle seat....I sat like that for 2 hours, the armrest on my left digging into my chest and the thighs of the window occupant pressed against mine. So if an upgrade to fewer people and larger seats are available, at a decent price... I will usually take it....Morgan, Im only 5ft 3inches tall and I feel the aircraft seats are not designed for short people...The bends are in all the wrong places and I usually end up stuffing pillows or my jacket in my lower back and sometimes under my neck. I would love to try out one of those first class seats that lay flat.

I don't like the bulkhead seats for the same reasons you don't. I want my personal item under the seat in front of me and the seat-back screen is better. I travel with a carry-on and a backpack so I prefer getting on sooner rather than later, even though airplane seats are uncomfortable. I want to have my carry-on over my head, not 7 rows behind me.
I haven't decided yet what I'll do when I travel to the UK or NZ next year. For NZ, I'm leaning really hard toward first class, despite the expense, because that's a seriously long flight and my back and leg are a mess. Six hours to the UK is a little easier but even in a comfortable seat, I'm in bad shape after 6 hours.
