Soooo amazing to see Kevin play the game... and NOT know the tropes about bards (calls it minstrel) and DOES them naturally without tongue in cheek. Soooo amazing!!!!
Just starting the video, but I LOVE that they named Kevin's character "Sam Hain/Hane" (not sure how they chose to spell it)... Don't know if anyone else noticed that or realized what they were doing there. As Samhain is the OG name for Halloween, as it was a Sabbat observed by Pagans. Pretty cool start. Can't wait to get into more. 🤟🏻😁 #KevinSmithIsMySpiritAnimal Edit: I'm about 25 mins or so in and, wow... Deborah is an AMAZING DM. I'm loving this. I regret starting on episode 5. I came here for Kevin, but I'm staying and starting from the beginning because of Deborah's amazing story telling skills.
@@rivermistfae Oh, it's an Irish name? If I'd known that, I wouldn't have assumed that the pronunciation had anything to do with the spelling. :P "Sam Hane" is how an English speaker would read the word "Samhain" phonetically, so it's how I'd always assumed it was pronounced. But according to Google, the m is silent and the h is pronounced like a W, like "Sah win" or "Saa wn". Of course, how obvious... Seriously though, thanks for letting us know that's not the correct pronunciation of Samhain.

Demons are chaotic, devils are beings of law. Imps are lawful evil devils, from planes like the 9 hells, not the abyss. 29:30 - Rules-as-written, it takes your action every turn to keep your vision through your familiar. You can just let that drop for a few seconds and see through your own eyes when you're doing something. (Only your sight/hearing are taken over; touch is still your own so a party member can tap to let you know something's happening.) You can still communicate telepathically with your familiar without doing the VR goggles, so you're not even really leaving them alone while you do something with your own body. 34:05 - Nice idea to tie the latch with invisible thread. Re: touching the hot window: Imps have Dex 17 and are Tiny, so tying small knots in magic thread is less fiddly for them than for a big guy like Veros. Assuming the imp has any idea of what knots are, it's something they can talk him through in a few minutes. (Or for table dynamics reasons, to give Tommy something to do since the spotlight has been on Kevin for a while, due to his imp familiar being the perfect tool for this scouting mission.) 44:00 - adding both character's modifiers is an interesting house-rule. RAW, the help action gives advantage on the roll, if the DM rules that help is possible at all. IIRC, I think I've seen Jasmine use this adding-modifiers house rule in other games she's DMed; maybe she got it from Deborah. In some cases, like two normal people lifting something heavy, it would be underpowered. Two people with athletics +0 should still have a much easier time moving a heavy rock than one person alone, but this rule would make it useless to help. In other cases, like persuasion, help from someone with a negative modifier actually hurting the efforts of the party face does make sense; it's all about how multiple efforts combine. I haven't seen this house-rule in action enough to have come across a case where it produced a result that didn't make sense narratively, like an extra helper making it harder to lift something. Usually it works pretty well. With high modifiers here from both PCs (both main-stat Cha with proficiency), and the magic item, the total modifier was +9 (Annabella) +7 (Sam) +5 = +21, so even a natural one would be a 22. (Some DMs treat nat 1s as automatic fails even on skill checks, though, something that advantage makes much less likely.) It is valid for a DM to decide that failure wasn't a possibility, in which case they shouldn't ask for a roll. (Except maybe when there are multiple degrees of success possible.) She said "7 + 9 for me" after rolling a 7, so I'm pretty sure she's saying her persuasion modifier is +9. But she later has a +7 deception, which must be +4 cha +3 proficiency, not +1 cha +6 expertise. If she had expertise in a Cha skill, it would be +10. Maybe some magic item that gives a +2 to persuasion? 1:01:50 - Thank you, Xander. Why can't anyone ever just untie something like a normal person. Instead they dramatically destroy the rope so they won't have it later. (Or so the party member with Mending has to sit there repairing it off-screen.) Critical Role always does this, too, even when there's no time pressure to get something untied.

If you think about it, every time Kevin brings his intelligence back to being a Tiefling, he's actually being incredibly racist to everyone else.
You know you’re making it big (or just have enough money) when you can have the Lord of Shills on your show.
Kevin Smith is a funny guy, but he's coming off as a bit of a wangrod here.
It's Sam Haynes!
I can see why you would say that, but I was getting more of a "new player trying to exude confidence" kinda feel.
Maybe it's my love of Kevin, but I try to give new players the benefit of the doubt... until they prove me wrong.
I mean, they seem to be having fun.
I just left a comment saying that I had never heard of Kevin Smith until seeing him in this episode just now, but as much as I love the R&R series, I could only get a few minutes into this one before calling it quits. Kevin is overwhelmingly loud and seems to have to be the center of attention. It stresses me out every time the guy speaks.
Please bring back the shorter fun shows

@@dcrose001 Right. Longer please. I'll take 3 and 4 hour videos any day. 🤟🏻 Especially of R&R.
Let's hope he doesn't butcher this like he did DC Comics.
Not a fan of Kevin Smith. Thanks but passing on this one/ two.
