Prices of dewormer are outrageous here. When I lived in Malaysia with my cats it cost me only 5 ringgit's a month per cat. Soooo cheap! Vet care here in canada is ridiculously expensive! 😖

HEllo I take care of a ferral cat which lives outside by my office. I want to use the Safe guard dewormer liquid form(fenbendazole) sold for goats to use on this cat. Was going to put it in some wet cat food for her. you mentioned in the video you have to dose it multiple times? The cat is smaller under 10 pounds. I did read the back of the Amazon sold product and it says for a 25 pound goat to use 0.6ml...so maybe half of that dose to use on this cat since she is smaller...I just want to know if I need to give her a repeated dosage. I plan to buy the product and maybe there will be more instructions inside the packaging..all I could see was the back label that said 0.6ml for 25 pounder. thank you for the great video and for help with the pets and yes I know this fenbendazole does not treat tapeworms...I just wanted to give her the broad spectrum protection since she is a wild cat. thank u sterling

From what I’ve read the DE works well. I believe it’s half a teaspoon for 7 days. It can also be applied topically for fleas but you do have to be careful of the dust irritating your cats eyes and nose. I’ve tried it for one 7 day cycle but she didn’t have worms or fleas, it was just for maintenance. So whether it really works or not I have no experience to speak from. Thanks for reminding me to try it again 🙂

My cat's an indoor/outdoor cat and I've been using a monthly flea treatment which also treats roundworm, hookworm, ear mites, lungworm and prevention of heartworm. I'm in Australia, so I don't know if things are all that different, but I'm hoping this is a good basis. Thankfully she's never had any problems and I make sure I give it to her each month. Just wondering on your opinion on "over the counter", store bought type treatments like these? Thanks for all the education you keep bringing us!😊😺

@dare2music645 hi! These days, I'm getting products for this online as it's much more economical. I don't have a credit card (I always get into financial disasters when I get one), so I just ask my brother to use his, etc. I'm getting a brand called Bravecto which lasts 3 months rather than one. I've used it on my cat for about 6 months now, and all seems fine - she just hates having it administered (no change there!) I can imagine with 5 cats, it could be very expensive if you were buying it how I was originally. You'd be spending about $100 a month 😬, there are options out there. Hope this is some help even though I'm certainly not a vet!

Or… some of us with a clowder or colony, truly can’t afford the vet costs and have endured more heartbreak over something so simple for next to no reason… Profiteering via Capitalism where health of life is concerned-same as they do with us, but on a far grander scale due to the social concioussness being where it’s at that animals are subhuman and thereby non-requisite for the basic rights we as humans, could afford to them with a blanket healthcare for all animals in general and the cost on an ability to pay basis for each animals net worth. Animal healthcare would be like Obamacare. Which is still working for us now. Still?…yup.
Or we could do it free out of just sheer goodness; but this is us I’m talking to about-all of us in general: as stewards of this earth and wiry these god givens gifts and abilities singular to man, can’t we just give it back to the other species we share the space on this planet of earth.

This is important information to have and I will call the vets office and ask if this is something we should be doing.

It's not really "deworming" as it is a preventative and cautionary method. Even if they are indoor only, you can still bring in worms yourself (with your shoes for example). You also have a catio, as she mentioned worms can be transferred by bugs like mosquitos and etc. It is important to regularly give worm medicine to your pets, 4 times a year. More often if they eat raw food.
