    Yes, please talk about the laws and future of Homeschooling. I just moved from FL to NH and joined the legal group keeping the government out of homeschooling. With how aggressive the LGBT groups are getting in education, I keep thinking they'll eventually target homeschools. People are leaving the public school brainwashing and I can imagine the powers that be will not let that get too far. I'm praying for God's protection in all of this.

      Welcome to NH! I’m going on my 3rd year homeschooling in this state 😀. NH has something similar to Florida’s PEP called Education Freedom Account (EFA) that I steer clear of. Sounds like these are similar to one another. I feel like if we want the true freedoms of homeschooling then we are best to not take the government funds. I believe over time they will absolutely get more involved and tighten up on homeschoolers if people keep taking these funds.

      Sort of late to this reality, but after receiving the scholarship and reading the rules etc. it was in that moment I realized this may be the government being “slick” and attempting to reconstruct homeschooling to a certain degree… we give you funding and you following these set of rules. You have to terminate homeschooling and accept rules like standardized testing etc in order to receive funding. Decided not to use the funding for last school year and this past week, I received an email asking for me to submit scores from a standardized test for my PEP recipient or funding for next year wouldn’t be provided.

    I would love to hear more about the homeschool laws being the way they are as preparation for the future of homeschooling, particularly as it relates to Florida. As a Georgian looking to be in Florida within a few months, the laws in Florida look tyrannical to what we have in GA. 😂 Not a fan or looking forward to it, so I’d love to hear your perspective on why you like FL’s laws.

    Arkansas has a new bill for home schooling & public schools. All I know so far is we get a few grand every year and take a state test. We have so many questions and no answers. We are at the end of the bill. This won’t take affect for a few years we have so many questions. Before we started HS testing was a requirement. Now it’s just the NOI yearly.

    Why was it such a big deal that, as homeschoolers we would not turn in testing results? If that was a right that was fought for, why is it not a big deal that PEP is requiring it? Thanks!

    Hello,
    I have a quick question about termination.
    I want to send mine in for Polk county, however I’m not due until September. If I sent the termination now would I need to have the evaluation done in 30 days. No where on there website does it say that. However I saw a evaluator online that said it’s Florida law. I can’t find a source for that anywhere besides her site.
    Thanks, Sally

    I don't remember seeing where it says you have to terminate your homeschooling program, rather, I thought that's one of the qualification areas (private school, transportation - to public school, and homeschooling). Where I have a problem is the regulated use of the money for the homeschooling parents/guardian. It seems very regulated.

    • @LivingWithEve
      @LivingWithEve  11 месяцев назад +3

      You have to terminate your homeschool program to do the PEP. Not for the Unique Abilities (that's specific to special needs). However, PEP is functioning like homeschool. Just like an umbrella school, if you use one of those - it functions like homeschool, but you are not registered as a homeschool with the district. The district counts you as a private school It can be confusing, it has to do with counting, data and government terms. All you need to know is that it will still function like homeschool. The only requirements is that you will have them do a nationally normed test IF you want to renew and you also have to fill out an education plan (which is multiple choice and not much effort).

      Wait, did I accidentally reverse it? 😆Homeschoolers will make better scores than public school kids. I’ll have to check. I didn’t say anything about ACE in this video, not sure why you’re bringing it up. But that’s great that it’s working for your son. If a curriculum works well for you then it’’a a win win! The great thing about homeschooling is that as a parent, we get to monitor our kids all the time. And we can see how they learn. If ACE is working for you and you see that growth then that’s awesome, of course he’s going to do better in Homeschooling than in public school. I would not expect anything less. I know in one or two videos I may have mentioned ACE- and I think you may have read into what I said too much. Just because I have seen many families use ACE and not do well doesn’t mean it doesn’t work for some. It really comes down to learning style. How does a child learn. Many kids in this generation do not learn the way ACE teaches, and that’s why it doesn’t work. Your child does - so it work. Hope that makes sense and sorry if I miscommunication it.

    • @michellewei7349
      @michellewei7349 Год назад +1

      In one of your previous videos ... as you mentioned you are a state evaluator for Florida.. you stated that evaluating kids that do ACE homeschooling is quite troublesome. That many of them seem to be behind! Well... I don't follow all of ACE rules. ACE states that it is "independent learning". I can't do that for my son because I don't trust him. Many on the ACE FB pages are on board with this. My son has ADHD.. and so do I ! Ok so I mark and grade all his work... we read together all the extensive reading... as I'm concerned he just skips over stuff to "find answers". I'm seriously curious what is needed for "state evaluations" given the fact that the foundation of schooling is reading, writing and arithmetic. With ACE.. you are NOT always at expected school levels. My son has a reading comprehension issue... so most "reading" subjects are a year behind right now ... but we have a "plan" to play "catch up" during the next summer or dedicate ourselves to one booklet every 2 weeks all year round to get caught up for the start of 9th grade.
      When your video mentioned your concerns about ACE, my heart sank. Of course it. is a case by case basis and what works for each child. My son doesn't want to "advance" or "work ahead". He just wants to "stay the course". Maybe the characters in the booklets are keeping him at level? I don't know. I have looked into Christian Schools but most are using Abeka. I'm a bit concerned when one administrator I was in touch with said "the sooner you enroll, the better and he won't be behind". When I told her about ACE, she said she did K-6 Abeka and 7-12 ACE. Ok so WHY is ACE so bad? She did this in a Christian School! No answer yet. My son doesn't need advanced based homeschooling. He does quite well with this. Being almost 13 years old... in years to come ... if HE decides to change a format... we shall see. In the meantime .. he likes the format and it seems to work well.
      It is NOT a cost thing for us. I do like the fact that it is independent.. that the books TEACH them.. but I make sure to look it over in case of his lack of confidence or troubles covering something. So I'm not 100% doing things the ACE way. @@LivingWithEve
