Just wanted to hop down here and say how much I appreciate all of you sharing your favorite records - lots of stuff I forgot to mention and some records I still need to check out. Thanks again for watching, everybody!
MicTheSnare The War on Drugs is one of those bands I heard of but never took the time to listen to their stuff. After watching this video I went and listened to a deeper understanding. The album is incredible! Can’t believe it took me so long to check them out. Keep up great work! Love the content you have been putting out

@Ivory_ Lagiacrus_YT she was barely popular, her last song to break 100 million views was I Really Like You, then Run Away With Me had 40+million only, and her albums dont chart as high despite the high quality
@Ivory_ Lagiacrus_YT That's early 2010s, mid 2010s was 2015, when emotion dropped. There was Call Me Maybe, then Good Time, I Really Like You then she dropped off the major pop scene. EMOTION was released and was known as a critical darling but a commercial flop, none of her songs since I Really Like You have been a massive hit despite their great quality.

@Dope Cat Also, have u listened to "Charli" by Charli XCX? Some of the harshest, noisiest, and most experimental production I've ever heard takes place on that album. It's nothing similar to Lorde.
@Dope Cat You seem to be the pretentious one here. Just because something is mainstream doesn't mean it's bad. Most of these albums are critically acclaimed for a reason.

@@koopakoo3813 I enjoyed some tracks like In Birdsong, Big Climb and the opener but i don’t think it comes close to the sharp and urgent songwriting/production of GTH. Fever Dream kind of fails in this same realm, everything (everyhting lol) seemed watered down after GTH, which to be fair is a really really high point, and an absolute hell to follow up.

Honestly, you describing your feelings when listing to “strangest thing” gave me goosebumps. It was exactly the way I felt when I listen to that song the first time. Finally, there is someone that felt the same way I felt. Thanks youtube for recommending me this channel. Greetings from Germany
I heard the song and the album for the first time three days ago. Holy sh*t, I cannot remember the last time a guitar solo hit me this hard. Absolute perfection and so perfectly put together.

Pure Heroine and Melodrama are tied for my Album of the Decade. Yes, Lorde is that good. Second place goes to Florence + the Machine's How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful.
2windswords I’m the kind of person that listens to Eminem, yet melodrama had such a profound impact impact on me that it is my favourite album of the decade, and almost all time.
My Top Ten Albums of the 2010's: 1. Frank Ocean - channel ORANGE 2. Kendrick Lamar - Good Kid M.A.A.D. City 3. Moderat - III 4. Daft Punk - Random Access Memories 5. This video is so good, almost as good as Run Away With Me by Carly Rae Jepsen. I paused this video so I could listen to Run Away With Me by Carly Rae Jepsen. I'm listening to it right now after finishing the video too. AND THE CHORUS IS ABOUT TO HIT AAAAA HIT, BABY!!!!
Hey have you listened to Emotion? The album where Run Away With Me came from? It's 80's pop perfection that you will also love! You can also check Carly's other albums that has similar vibes but with different attack, Emotion Side B, Dedicated, and Dedicated side B!
Also, I’ve got to give props to this guy for listing The Master as one of the things he wishes he can experience for the first time. I’ve been saying for years people are going to acknowledge it as a classic within 10 years and I’m gradually being proven right.

Chiggen Boi what? Personally I take Igor, flower boy, and wolf over cherry bomb on my favourite Tyler albums. Cherry bomb is unique and adventurous, but isn’t as consistent imo.
I'll try to make mine: 10 Mac DeMarco - 2 9 James Blake - Assume Form 8 St. Vincent - St Vincent 7 Queens of the stone age - Like Clockwork 6 Fiona apple - The idler wheel... 5 Tame Impala - Currents 4 The 1975 - A Brief Inquiry Into Online relationships 3 Radiohead - A Moon shaped pool 2 David Bowie - Blackstar 1 Father John Misty - I love you honeybear
Late to the party, but mine are (no particular order): 1989 - Taylor Swift Melodrama - Lorde I Love You, Honeybear - Father John Misty Lemonade - Beyonce Golden Hour - Kacey Musgraves A Seat at the Table - Solange E*M*O*T*I*O*N - Carly Rae Jepsen Ceremonials - Florence & The Machine After Laughter - Paramore Modern Vampires of the City - Vampire Weekend It's kind of difficult to be diverse with this decade, since I stuck to pop for most of it. Which makes sense since most critically acclaimed artists and Grammy nominees (until 2015) were mostly, IF NOT ALL, making pop music. Nevertheless, these are some really solid records.
My list, probably: 1. Mount Eerie - A Crow Looked at Me 2. Tame Impala - Lonerism 3. Beach House - Bloom 4. David Bowie - Blackstar 5. Deafheaven - Sunbather 6. Radiohead - A Moon Shaped Pool 7. Swans - The Seer 8. Death Grips - The Money Store 9. Sufjan Stevens - Carrie & Lowell 10. Daughters - You Won't Get What You Want

In no particular order- Born to Die, Ultraviolence, Norman F****** Rockwell by Lana, LM5 by Little Mix, Melodrama by Lorde, Golden Hour by Kacey Musgraves, Emotions by Carly Rae Jepsen... and those are all I can think of at the moment
My personal top 50 :) 1. To Pimp a Butterfly 2. Atrocity Exhibition 3. The Money Store 4. To Be Kind 5. Blackstar 6. The Epic 7. A Crow Looked At Me 8. We Got It From Here... 9. I absolutely love the way you described 22 A million. This album is something else man. The first time I listened to it I was like “wtf, this so weird?” but then I gave it time and realized how much was buried underneath the weird production. That “if harms me, It’ll harm, I’ll let in” you put at the end kills me every time. Great video!

So 3 albums on this list (Blonde, MBDTF, 22AM) are my 3 favorite albums of all time. Their own echelon. And yet having listened to each of these front to back literally HUNDREDS if not THOUSANDS of times, you still managed to find something about each of them that I had never emotionally/cognitively grasped. You are amazing man. You truly are.

I'm loving that you put Sufjan, Carly, and The National in your top 10. I started listening to The National in 2019 with I Am Easy To Find and I fell in love with them. I haven't listened to Sleep Well Beast yet but I am going to right now!

Kendrick Lamar- To Pimp A Butterfly No this list is not perfect, Idek how I feel about it. Putting ten albums down as my favorites of a decade is a difficult task. There are so many other incredible albums that came out in the last ten years (such as Cherry Bomb by Tyler, the Creator but I don't need to get into that hot take). But all of these albums hold a special place in my life, so I'm cool with putting them on here.

i dunno why, but you talking about strangest thing was the part in this video that stood out the most to me. i have a friend on discord who listens to war on drugs, and i always get a flashback to this video. i’m currently on a drive back home from a vacation. i listened to strangest thing while staring out the window, and when that singular explosion moment came in, all i could do was close my eyes and jam out. i *completely* understand how that had to be difficult to describe in its totality.
This video was incredibly well made, and I know that because I haven’t listened to even one of these albums but you convinced me to give them all a try
Personal list 1. My Beautiful dark twisted fantasy 2. To Pimp a Butterfly 3. Blonde (real original so far right, Ik I’m pretty basic) 4. House of Balloons 5. Currents 6. Kids see ghosts 7. Titanic rising 8. The Money store 9. Rodeo 10. A moon shaped pool Judge my taste please
the week that david bowie released blackstar, passed away, then the world celebrated his birthday will continue to be the most important few days of my life. I grew up listening to bowie, he had been my favorite artist for almost my entire life. that week helped young teenage me come to terms with mortality and i cannot thank him enough for that
I'll grant you; "Golden Hour" is one of the best Country albums of the decade specifically because of how different it is to most other forms of Country. To paraphrase Fantano: "This is the kind of Country you don't go 'mudding' to; this is the Country you hear when you go shopping at the Apple Store." A ringing endorsement, if I ever heard one!
Nice video, good to see Emotion on here. I was happy to see this album get the respect it deserved gradually since release. I thought Carly had something going on from her pleasant 2012 follow up single "Curiosity" (a radio hit in Canada) but I never could've imagined she'd make something as insanely good as Emotion. I think "Teenage Dream" is the best Pop song of the decade and "Run Away With Me" was the first Pop song to reach that level again for me. and then Lorde with "The Louvre". This is my list. 1. Carly Rae Jepsen : Emotion 2. Lorde : Melodrama 3. Seiko Oomori : TOKYO BLACK HOLE 4. BAND-MAID : WORLD DOMINATION 5. Wednesday Campanella : Superman 6. Daft Punk : Random Access Memories 7. Katy Perry : Teenage Dream 8. BiSH : Brand New Idol Shit 9. Kendrick Lamar : good kid, m.A.A.d city 10. Haru Nemuri : Haru to Shura

In no particular order: - Coloring Book (Chance the Rapper) - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (Kanye West) - To Pimp a Butterfly/Good Kid MAAD City (tied for me) - Blackstar (David Bowie) - Random Access Memories (Daft Punk) - Modern Vampires of the City (Vampire Weekend) - Trench (Twenty One Pilots) - Norman F*cking Rockwell (Lana Del Rey) - Racine Carrée (Stromae, super good French pop, please check it out!) - When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? (Billie Eilish)
I was 9 when racine carrée came out, I quite literally grew up with that album, and it's just so good. Ta fête, formidable, sommeil and ave cesaria especially, I can't get over how good those songs are. Quite sad he didn't get as famous internationally as he did in France and Belgium..
M Y G O D! I've had never listened to the War on drugs before, and the Strangest Thing just made my eyes water. It touched me… The guitar sounds and ambient it creates is incredible.

22, A Million, still feels like such an enigma. Sometimes I feel like I'm listening to it wrong. It feels so far from the Justin Vernon who was in that cabin but it also feels like a natural progression, maybe even a complete rebirth, especially in the context of i, i, which I absolutely adore. To me, 22, A Million, feels like a memory of a memory someone told you about when you were young. It's disjointed and fleeting yet feels massive and important all at the same time. I think I just have a lot of feelings about this album, one thing's for sure, Justin Vernon is one of my favorite artists ever.

EMOTION is just game changing like... literally

Awsome list but I would change Igor to cherry bomb
Chiggen Boi what? Personally I take Igor, flower boy, and wolf over cherry bomb on my favourite Tyler albums. Cherry bomb is unique and adventurous, but isn’t as consistent imo.
Chiggen Boi Honestly, I would put Igor, Flower Boy, Wolf and Bastard above it but to be fair I haven't given it as many listens

It's kind of difficult to be diverse with this decade, since I stuck to pop for most of it. Which makes sense since most critically acclaimed artists and Grammy nominees (until 2015) were mostly, IF NOT ALL, making pop music. Nevertheless, these are some really solid records.
1989 is the guilty pleasure masterpiece people will rather not admit its excellence
@@nothanks2806 it's kinda sad, since some people do mention how it may had someting to do with some of the albums being made even this year

Your thoughts on Strangest Thing were so well said. I’m speechless.

The more i watch your videos, the more I inderstand how basic my tastes are. But you are a great narrator and video structure is always flawless

I'll grant you; "Golden Hour" is one of the best Country albums of the decade specifically because of how different it is to most other forms of Country.
To paraphrase Fantano: "This is the kind of Country you don't go 'mudding' to; this is the Country you hear when you go shopping at the Apple Store." A ringing endorsement, if I ever heard one!
finally clicked on this video after weeks of it being in my reccomendations, and im really glad i did. great video man
Nice video, good to see Emotion on here.

I'm not really into music, I know it's werid but at times I have enjoyed it but I don't have play list or even listen when driving but watching a few of your videos have really captured my attention and it feels almost like the series of books for dummies to learn something. I would never considered or noticed all the complexity you have described so clearly and easy. Thanks it has made me understand my loved ones whos lives are lived threw music.

Liked because you gave Carly Rae Jepsen her due. First Emotion then Dedicated and the side Bs?!? Fucking Legend.

I come back to this video every so often just to hear Mic The Snare's usually calmly spoken voice just ERUPT with passion when he’s talking about Strangest Thing. I love it
Wow, Golden Hour! I had to pause your video to listen to it. First time and it’s is a breath of fresh air. Beautiful song 🥲
