After a month away from the channel, I’m back and ready for the new decade! And what better way to kick off the 2020s than by... looking back at the 2010s - a decade that saw music transform completely on multiple occasions. In order to cover everything I wanna cover about the decade, I’ll be doing two videos - my top 10 albums of the decade (this one!), and the music that defined the “sound of the 2010s” (which will be out in February).
Let me know what your favorite albums of the 2010s were in the comments! (And remember this is just my opinion yoooooooo)

Just wanted to hop down here and say how much I appreciate all of you sharing your favorite records - lots of stuff I forgot to mention and some records I still need to check out. Thanks again for watching, everybody!
MicTheSnare The War on Drugs is one of those bands I heard of but never took the time to listen to their stuff. After watching this video I went and listened to a deeper understanding. The album is incredible! Can’t believe it took me so long to check them out. Keep up great work! Love the content you have been putting out
Nostalgia Critic's "The Wall" is his magnum opus, and you put it at number 3????????? And here I was thinking you were a professional smh. Disappointed
bit confused at your description not matching the list in the video. great vid otherwise
@@midnlghtmoon he listed 10 really bad albums in the description as a joke. Like they all suck
Have you listened to any of the tracks or records by Mae? Not a huge band commercially, but they put out some great work in the 00s and 10s
Damn, I can't believe you put 'Crazy Frog - Crazy Hits' on all 10 spots. Very left field of you.
Ay the mid air thief profile pic
For real though, the tags are pure click bait. will.i.am's #Willpower isn't even on this list.
Yeah, that album is from the 00's. Shame
This comment has a very "Fantano comment section" energy

I was wondering what he meant by that since it was uploaded in January.

This gets better the more months go on
Yup, still gets much worse by August 2021
E•MO•TION - is just so good, if it released now it would be a hit such Dua Lipa’s, Doja’s, Gaga’s and other
There probably wouldnt be a Dua Lipa had it not been for CRJ
I really wanna hear your entire list
EMOTION is just game changing like... literally
@Ivory_ Lagiacrus_YT she was barely popular, her last song to break 100 million views was I Really Like You, then Run Away With Me had 40+million only, and her albums dont chart as high despite the high quality
@Ivory_ Lagiacrus_YT That's early 2010s, mid 2010s was 2015, when emotion dropped. There was Call Me Maybe, then Good Time, I Really Like You then she dropped off the major pop scene. EMOTION was released and was known as a critical darling but a commercial flop, none of her songs since I Really Like You have been a massive hit despite their great quality.

@Dope Cat This list is actually quite varied. What's your problem
@Dope Cat How in the world is Veteran by JPEGMAFIA the same as thank u next
@Dope Cat Also, have u listened to "Charli" by Charli XCX? Some of the harshest, noisiest, and most experimental production I've ever heard takes place on that album. It's nothing similar to Lorde.
@Dope Cat You seem to be the pretentious one here. Just because something is mainstream doesn't mean it's bad. Most of these albums are critically acclaimed for a reason.
This convinced me to finally give Emotion a try. I regret nothing.
I bet the only thing you regret is not listening to it sooner lol
Same here, I also listened to her new album Dedicated and I was really impressed with her already.

This video is so good, almost as good as Run Away With Me by Carly Rae Jepsen. I paused this video so I could listen to Run Away With Me by Carly Rae Jepsen. I'm listening to it right now after finishing the video too. AND THE CHORUS IS ABOUT TO HIT AAAAA HIT, BABY!!!!
Hey have you listened to Emotion? The album where Run Away With Me came from? It's 80's pop perfection that you will also love! You can also check Carly's other albums that has similar vibes but with different attack, Emotion Side B, Dedicated, and Dedicated side B!
Also, I’ve got to give props to this guy for listing The Master as one of the things he wishes he can experience for the first time. I’ve been saying for years people are going to acknowledge it as a classic within 10 years and I’m gradually being proven right.

Nice video, good to see Emotion on here. I was happy to see this album get the respect it deserved gradually since release. I thought Carly had something going on from her pleasant 2012 follow up single "Curiosity" (a radio hit in Canada) but I never could've imagined she'd make something as insanely good as Emotion. I think "Teenage Dream" is the best Pop song of the decade and "Run Away With Me" was the first Pop song to reach that level again for me. and then Lorde with "The Louvre". This is my list.

@@jojospider7812 what's wrong with that lol
Jojospider does that really mean anything? If you like the music listen to it
M Y G O D! I've had never listened to the War on drugs before, and the Strangest Thing just made my eyes water. It touched me… The guitar sounds and ambient it creates is incredible.
They’re quite good aren’t they
Just a mention, BEYONCE's Hold Up doesn't only have a ''smilar melody'', but also uses the same lyrics from YEAH YEAH YEAH's Maps... Not that blurry of a line haha
And the Turn My Swag On outro
I'm happy paramore made it to at least the honorable mentions :)
1) Plastic Beach - Gorillaz
2) Joy as an Act of Resistance - IDLES

I absolutely love the way you described 22 A million. This album is something else man. The first time I listened to it I was like “wtf, this so weird?” but then I gave it time and realized how much was buried underneath the weird production. That “if harms me, It’ll harm, I’ll let in” you put at the end kills me every time. Great video!
The Kanye that was far removed from that album is even more far removed from reality today.

It’s amazing and I can’t recommend it enough
Who made that album 2020 because I want to listen to it
I'll grant you; "Golden Hour" is one of the best Country albums of the decade specifically because of how different it is to most other forms of Country.
To paraphrase Fantano: "This is the kind of Country you don't go 'mudding' to; this is the Country you hear when you go shopping at the Apple Store." A ringing endorsement, if I ever heard one!
I really, really enjoy this video, but there’s one huge problem with it, being that it was the straw that broke the camel’s back for me and finally convinced me to give Sufjan Stevens a listen (and now I’m utterly hooked on his music) so when you suddenly cut into Death with Dignity, I just want to turn it off and listen to Carrie and Lowell.
Whoa, Strangest Thing! Haven't been caught up in a song like that in ages! Great recommendation, gained a new subscriber
Best 2010’s list I’ve seen in a while. Brilliant video 🙏

9. Currents (Tame Impala)
10. 4:44 (JAY-Z)
Awsome list but I would change Igor to cherry bomb
Chiggen Boi what? Personally I take Igor, flower boy, and wolf over cherry bomb on my favourite Tyler albums. Cherry bomb is unique and adventurous, but isn’t as consistent imo.
Chiggen Boi Honestly, I would put Igor, Flower Boy, Wolf and Bastard above it but to be fair I haven't given it as many listens
I listened to Rodeo last week and damn, I forgot how good it was
Acid Rap is amazing
For a second I thought I would actually see Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz on here. Great List regardless.
I'm loving that you put Sufjan, Carly, and The National in your top 10. I started listening to The National in 2019 with I Am Easy To Find and I fell in love with them. I haven't listened to Sleep Well Beast yet but I am going to right now!

No this list is not perfect, Idek how I feel about it. Putting ten albums down as my favorites of a decade is a difficult task. There are so many other incredible albums that came out in the last ten years (such as Cherry Bomb by Tyler, the Creator but I don't need to get into that hot take). But all of these albums hold a special place in my life, so I'm cool with putting them on here.
Noah Mcdonald which twin fantasy you talkin about?

So 3 albums on this list (Blonde, MBDTF, 22AM) are my 3 favorite albums of all time. Their own echelon. And yet having listened to each of these front to back literally HUNDREDS if not THOUSANDS of times, you still managed to find something about each of them that I had never emotionally/cognitively grasped. You are amazing man. You truly are.
mic you're so hansome!
When I saw him talk about Zeppelin I knew it would be Lemonade.

Coal - Leprous
I discovered the album by The war on drugs watching this video a couple weeks ago and I have been spamming Pain and crying at how good it is. Its quite possibly in my top 5 best songs ever. Holy molly. The album is amazing too
The War On Drugs is a rock band that moves me in ways that rock music seldom does nowadays. It's hard to place one album above the other, but I'm with you on Strangest Thing - that shit lifts you out of your seat and makes you drop whatever you had in your hands when the guitar swells.
Also, shout out to the honorable mentions of Arcade Fire and Tame Impala. I would add Queens of the Stone Age to that list of mentions for their album Like Clockwork, but just like what happened at the Grammy's, their playing time got cut short as the show went on over time. Also the album AM by Arctic Monkeys deserved at least a mention. Not top ten, but still a special album from the 2010 decade.
Hope you’ve enjoyed 2020 so far was such a cursed phrase

Transgender Dysphoria Blues by Against Me!
and
Worry! by Jeff Rosenstock
TPAB as #1 is the only correct choice for that spot tho

Underground and Conscious Hip-hop, yes. Trap-hop and Mumble rap, no.
QJ89 woooahhh there. Trap has been exceptional in some cases. Monster, Rodeo, JEFFREY, DS2, SS2, Barter 6, playboy carti self-titled and die lit are all superb in what they go for. If it were possible to rank a trap album against a rap album, monster/rodeo would be really high on my rap albums of the decade list. (But my list has changed a fair bit since I commented this)
Exactly what I feel about "Strangest Things"!!!! I cried hearing you just talk about it.
I didn’t realize you could include “Blue” by Eiffel 65 on more than one spot in these lists.

22, A Million, still feels like such an enigma. Sometimes I feel like I'm listening to it wrong. It feels so far from the Justin Vernon who was in that cabin but it also feels like a natural progression, maybe even a complete rebirth, especially in the context of i, i, which I absolutely adore. To me, 22, A Million, feels like a memory of a memory someone told you about when you were young. It's disjointed and fleeting yet feels massive and important all at the same time. I think I just have a lot of feelings about this album, one thing's for sure, Justin Vernon is one of my favorite artists ever.
Me, listening to almost exclusively pop punk, indie, CCM, and classical music for the past several years: "Oh boy, I wonder how many albums on this list I'll have listened to!"
Also me, after knowing of three albums which I've heard maybe a couple songs off before: "Welp, at least I have more music to listen to."
