Go Zain! Love how he stuck to marth and proved he could do it instead of switching to fox or something for a (debatably) easier way out. Lots of respect for the man. Hope he keeps showing us what marth is really capable of :)
I don't think you could come up with an argument to debate that dual-maining is an "easier way out". That said, I don't like fox so I'm also glad to see that he did it with marth
Sorry, didnt mean to say it was an easier way out. I said "debatably" because a lot of people say fox has an easier MU vs puff than marth does because of fox's huge variety of kill setups, good missed rest punishes, and stuff like not having to deal with puff crouching under your grabs and etc. Both characters got their pros and cons vs puff honestly but I feel like marths just gotta play very safe and patiently bc his attacks arc, dont combo too well, (for the most part) and dont have lasting hitboxes. This slow and poke based play i feel usually turns people away from marth v puff (gets frustrating when you poke puff a thousand times with the massive sword and she gets that one rest that just instakills you) and makes them think about picking up a fox (kind of like how plup and m2k play fox vs hbox) bc they just dont wanna deal with playing the puff MU with their respective mains

They all body each other because they're all around the same skill level (Although zain is better and has higher highs). If two players know each other very well then neither has the advantage over the other and the better player will win, excluding the human element. You can say that junebug's playstyle counters zain's, although I'm not sure if that's true. The only other argument I can see you making is that zain is beating top players because of gimmicks that junebug knows about. That argument would just prove that zain isn't that good and that as soon as top players start expecting his gimmicks he'll start losing again. I don't believe that's the case though, I think he's actually good. Just not God-tier good yet.

@@griffenmetz1172 most of zains plays were highly reliant on perfect tech skill. if he got a grab, it was basically up to zain to get the pivot tipper after. not much Hbox can do about that but hope zain misses. so Hbox did really good to not get caught by all of them, and DI really well on all the ones that hit
When I saw Zain beat Plup at Summit earlier this year, I was already saying that he would inevitably ascend into the Pantheon. I just didn't think he would do it this fast. What a run, undefeated at a major! I wonder how long it'll take before he can reach the #1 spot. Can't wait to see how much higher this man can go.

While that's true, Jman has an asterisk because Mango went Marth against him. Zain's run is better too because he faced them both directly (and faced Hbox twice), whereas Jman got to avoid Hbox, who drowned to Fly Amanita and Lucky.

The circumstances totally matter. Jman's a legend but beating Zhu and Lucky is really not the same kind of accomplishment as beating (real) Mango and Hungrybox twice

Part of not being a scrub is growing up, accepting everything within the game , including Puff, however lame the character may be. I'm a fan of Hbox because of this video I saw of him recently. In it, I saw in his eyes his passion for our game. The way he talked about it and gushed about neutral...he portrayed exactly how we all feel about melee. He isn't lame. Hbox is one of us, and he's fucking awesome.
If it's that simple, how come no one else fucking does it. You seem to have such a bad insight of top players. Why can't you just accept this comment and have to hate. Fucking respect for Zain, unfortunate for Hbox, it is how it is.

Now that hbox has fallen down to earth from his nearly flawless record last few months I’ve greatly enjoyed seeing other players (leffen, zain, plup) win big tournaments! But I also feel like I respect hbox more than I ever have before

mynameisrandy There are plenty of points besides winning a tournament. He isn’t above Mango. He’s close, but not quite.
There are, but one of those points is bad losses, and Mango's worst loss is a lot worse than Zain's.
It's definitely close, but the way you're supposed to rank them, according to the ballots they send out, is you're supposed to put people higher if you expect them to do better over time playing in the same tournaments. I personally expect Zain to continue to outplace Mango more often than Mango outplaces him.
mynameisrandy Zain actually has worse losses. Mango has lost to Flipsy, ARMY, Zain, and the Top 6. Zain has losses to Wizzrobe, Crush, Lucky, HugS, Swedish Delight, PewPewU, ARMY, Captain Smuckers (double eliminated), and Hyprid. The fact that you think Mango’s worst loss is a lot worse shows a sort of double standard here. When Zain has a low loss, we brush it off and forget because hey, he’s just another top player, upsets happen. But we remember every single time a god gets upset. Mango seems to have worse losses because we remember it better, not because he actually does.
And you’re right about the ranking question, but there’s two part to placing. You have consistency and peaks. Zain wins as far as peaks go, since he won a tournament while Mango hasn’t. But consistency? How many times has Mango placed outside of top 8? Once, I’m sure you remember, it’s when he DQ’d in losers at SSC. How many times has Zain placed outside of top 8? Do you know off the top of your head? I sure don’t! Zain has outpaced Mango three times: Shine, Summit, And SNS. Mango has outpaced him everywhere else. Also, you should be basing rankings off of data you have so far, not your predictions for the future because those are just guesses.

Anyone else notice at 15:09 that Zain dash grabbed Hbox while Puff was crouched? Since Marth's dash grab is lower and larger, I think there may be a new weapon in the Marth tool kit against Puff.
NerdyTheologian This was always known - the problem is that it's slow enough and you need to be close enough for being Rested to be an option.
