Exactly, there are newspapers suggesting Superman exists. And I would believe it given that this Batman is superhuman himself. Surviving an explosion to the face, crashing into an overpass at 40 miles per hour, two things that would've easily killed him irl. This universe is not 100% realistic.

With Matt Reeves doing the grounded batman I want James Gunn's DC universe to have a fantastical bat family movie. Make batman a side character and put more focus on the other bat members.

What writers for comic book characters should focus on, is making the characters feel grounded even though the world is fantastical.
Definitely one of those moments where the show you can tell is gonna be really good, but theres that one detail thats just slightly out of place, but the people running everything are colorblind and could also use a hearing aid.
Part of Penguins whole motivation is that people look down at him: he’s short, stout, he has a limp and in Gotham, he’s a scrawny weasel of a man who just holds the boss’s umbrella.
The name Cobblepot added to that because it’s not an intimidating name, it was another thing he had to overcome, and eventually, he was able to associate that name with his genius and ruthless almost as much as the Penguin.

It’s two different scenarios. The riddler IS the riddler in the movie and presents himself that way. Just as Oz, in the movie, presents himself that way. As Oz. It’s just a pointless change that isn’t necessary. Pennyworth is the same kind of name as Cobblepot, yet it was unchanged. This doesn’t change the quality of the series or movies, but it’s a dumb and pointless move in an attempt to make the character “seem” more grounded.

It’s because his current canon name is Edward Nashton. He changed it to Edward Nygma, as in E. Nygma. Enigma, Edward Nygma is an alias. Edward Nashton is his canon name. Oswald Cobb isn’t. That’s just a abbreviated version of his original name it’s not even original. There is zero point in changing that.

I actually think it’s a smart move. Ethnic names get changed all the time through immigration in cities like NY. Cobblepot sounds goofy even for an English name, shortening it to Cobb feels natural in a way.

the reason why nolan and now reeves decide to make grounded batman is because it makes the charachter more interesting, having batman fight monsters and meta humans looks goofy and cartoonish in live action, just look at batman and robin and ben affleck fighting those aliens in JL, keaton's batman was the perfect middle ground of unrealistic yet not too ridiculous

@@eskanda3434 nolan said in some interviews back when batman begins came out that he insisted to the studio in making the film grounded since he wanted to humanize bruce wayne and make him interesting, it's going to take a great director and writers to make a fantastical batman movie and not have it be a joke and ridiculous, cuz honestly the whole idea of batman is goofy. burton made batman interesting by making dark and grounded but Schumacher turned him into a joke again, then nolan cemented the realstic, dark and more interesting take on the charachter, i dont think its getting old because The Batman was really good but i do hope DCU's batman gives us a much different take on it
