Hey everyone! Im back with some different kind of content. Going to be mixing it up with more videos like this. Would appreciate feedback. Hope you enjoy!
Hey man how did you find the match with "Cacareco" Alexandre Ferreira and Roger? Do you have a link to watch the fight? I've been trying to find it for ages.
@@sirfudecake32Hey! Unfortunately I couldn't find it either when making this video. So I actually had to rip the video off the official Adcc dvd itself.
@@jerryh2954 thanks a lot for the comment! Really glad you enjoyed the video. I’m definitely going to be putting together more vids like this. Stay tuned 😁
Yea I thinks it’s amazing too because of how inspiring it is for the older guys who are hesitant to compete in the adult divisions. Especially awesome to see Lovato perform so well against the youngsters.
Great job showing the full journey he took here. That story telling element adds a lot more interest and helps drive home the impressive nature of this. Great video
I'm not sure over how many days this tournament happened, but I'm in awe that he had the energy to keep going after 2 double overtimes and still face off Jacare.
Roger is my influence for NoGi style BJJ. Technical, tough, extreme and explosive stamina, amazing fight IQ, amazing display of skill and his control over his movements is so cool. People talk so much shit about jiu jitsu because they think it's a knock off of wrestling and judo, or whatever they say about helio gracie and his family, they dont understand how much this martial art has evolved over time.
Amazing video! Thank you for the upload! I assumed Roger went through everyone easily, but man, after watching this video, he had no easy matches at all.
Thank you for the comment. Glad you enjoyed the video! And I agree. Rogers run will definitely be a hard one to beat. Only person I see that can maybe do it is Gordon
Fantastic video bro. That actually was a legendary run. I would say Gordon's ADCC 2019 run was more dominant than this, although his competition wasn't as good. Roger was fighting legends in every single fight. Also Gordon didn't submit everyone but I feel like Roger's opponent quitting due to exhaustion isn't that much of a submission either. Anyway, great video.
Opponent quit due to exhaustion is definitely a submission. He literally had to verbally submit. He knew if he went another 10 minutes, he WOULD get tapped, so it wasn't even worth trying. Mental domination is sometimes more impressive than physical domination.
Comparing Gordon Ryan against to Roger gracie is the same as Comparing a kid that just kicked a ball, with Pelé or Maradona. Roger gracie still today the best Jiu-jitsu fighter that ever existed
Great video. One critical comment: very hard for me to call a BJJ match where an arm was broken to pieces a great victory. A display of courage, maybe. But, he was destroyed.
Jacare was at Koral Desafio a week later in Sao Paulo with some team mates of mine. His arm was in a sling, no plaster, I don't think the damage was as bad as people made out.
@@hyetrwesmelvin8167 - fair point. But, it was only within the limits of the IBJJF rules that the damage that was done didn't lead to his loss. Jacare is awesome, but I just don't see being saved by the bell as something worthy of celebration. Roger was clearly the superior BJJ fighter on that day.
@@trn450 I've been lucky enough to meet and train with Roger, he's an absolute legend for sure but rules were different back in 2004, Jacare played the game and won fair and square. Watch Rogers face at the end of the fight, even he knows it.
Rogers 2009 Mundials run was also 100 submissions. Weight and open class. This is the most unique feature. He's the only one who's ever done it in gi and nogi.
@@DeepDiveJJ make the video my friend. It's an important part of BJJ history and Roger diservs it. Besides it'll be a Nice video- almost 10 competition cross chokes 😁 ( I think one was from the back)
I still consider Roger the winner of the first match. A deep submission where the person doesn't tap is much more impressive than just getting in top position for a second.
That's an issue where you disagree with the rule set and how the match was judged according to the rule set. He did lose according to the rules for that match though.
If Marcelo Garcia would have won the ADCC absolute in 2007, it would have been him. At 77kg, he submitted all of his opponents in his weight and the Absolute, except for his final match with Roger Drysdale. Roger Gracie is definitely the man.
I want to watch that run. Think I might have the dvd 🤔. It just goes to show how talented Marcelo is. I also just read that there was some controversy with Drysdale having some fixed matches to get into the finals. I didn't know that. Interesting stuff.
Who wins in no gi jiu jitsu Roger Gracie vs Gordon Ryan? I know most have Roger as the best, especially with a gi, but many have Gordon as the best with no gi. Does he beat Roger with no gi?
This video was made before the most recent ADCC, but Gordon Ryan’s most recent performance was incredible. I would say that was the best ADCC performance.
Agree that Gordon was super impressive. But, perhaps, the level of opponents does not quite compare. Each of Roger’s opponents had proved themselves champions and were very much in their prime. While Rosevelt and Nicky Rod are incredibly talented, they have yet to prove that they can get the job done in a big ticket tournament and it may well be argued that they have not yet reached their prime. So, I wonder if it would be fair to say that, relative to his time, Roger faced off against a more impressive line up of opponents than Gordon. It is a little bit like arguing how many angels would fit on top of a needle, though 😅
0:17 personally I don't think Jacare has beaten Roger lol Roger has broken his arm and he just did not tap .. then ran around the rest of the match. What a cringe. Jacare was never even close to submitting Roger or breaking his arm.
100% facts. Ryan beating everyone with ease and none of these guys, Roger included will NOT even take a match with him. Josh and Gonzaga were beaten with ease. Roger knows he can't hang with Ryan.
@@DeepDiveJJ The easy of how he did it, the speed of how he did it and the short amount of time it took for him to get to the very top. Not to mention the fact that no grappler wants to face him, which is why he started the "retirement" talk. The scary thing is that these are all facts, not opinion.
@@sharkparty1027 oh so you’re saying that overall Gordon has had the better career? That’s a big statement haha. Idk. I mean I get that Gordon has been extremely dominant and rose to that level very quickly, but you can’t forget about the level of skill someone has to have to not only win multiple ADCC gold medals but ALSO have numerous World titles in the Gi to their name. I think that shows the level of diversity that Gordon doesn’t have since we have never seen how he would fair the in Gi at the highest levels of competition.
@@DeepDiveJJ At the end of the day, ask yourself if Roger would grapple with Ryan. We know the answer to this already. No hate, no fan boy, just being factual.

how does rogers double gold run compare to gordons double gold run? was one objectively more dificult than the other?
The degree of difficulty can be debated, but the fact that Roger went 8 for 8 with submissions is the deciding factor for me
TBH Roger had a tougher run imo. Because he faced a lot of world and adcc champions in his run. A lot more than Gordon.
