Awesome video Sir! Wow you are an inspiration to us all!! Thank you for sharing your journey in getting your CDL! Thank you for your encouragement! I am 60 years old and thinking about getting my CDL Class A. I currently have a CDL class B, with P & S endorsements.

    Preach on brother!
I was a troubled teen growing up in Brooklyn NY and got into trouble with the law. I knew that I didn't want to end up like most of my friends who ended up doing hard time in jail or worse dead. I got married and my wife wasn't having it with me being in the streets so she gave me an ultimatum, the streets or her. I choose her and went and got a job parking cars, but I knew that I wasn't meant to be a parking attendant all my life with a wife and a kid on the way.
Met a guy who we clicked and he asked me what I was working on and he told me that parking cars wasn't a job for a family man.
He told me that he was a truck driver and had his own truck, he then asked me if I wanted to learn how to drive a truck to which I said yes.
That was 27 years ago and I've been employed ever since.
So much opportunity in this field that you won't ever run out of choices.
To be honest I've been looking to relocate down to Texas in the last couple of years. High taxes and the crazinest of a blue state NJ has gotten worse.

I did it like you at a utility company in Florida at the DMV brother. I was making 7.00 an hour they told me I'd get a dollar raise if I got my CDL. 40 years later I'm still driving

Good video! Glad things worked out bot you! It’s a shame that now it’s you who is putting other people down for bettering themselves. You would think that at the very least you would have learned that…

BJ Services in OD gave me my start over 17 years ago, they sent me to school and paid 100% of it. That CDL has kept me working no matter what.

Inspiring, true, refreshing! Have held mine since 2000'. I relate to your story and appreciate it. It has always been there for me, kept me walking the line, kept me out of trouble, kept me clean from drugs. I decided to get my CDL when first child was being born. You can take it as far as you want to, and as you stated opens up doors in the field and other places. Have all endorsements but passenger, always have work. LTL ND now. Appreciate your story man.

When working in the oil do you need your hazmat and tankers endorsements?

Only if hauling hazardous commodities. But I recommend having all endorsements. More money. But some guys haul sand , water and flatbed. No endorsements. Maybe just tankers for water haulers
