I’ve been driving for five years. I got my CDL as soon as I turned 21 and it was honestly the best decision I have ever made in my life. After my first year of trucking, I haven’t made less than $60,000 and for being in your early 20s that’s honestly a pretty good living

Wish I had my guidance and support and positive people in my Twenties I would have gotten my CDL now almost 50 it's to late now. wasted my whole life
Wooo this hit home fr I come from the trenches and that Ohio paycheck struggling wishing you could get ahead in life ain’t no hoe I am currently going get my cdl this week and will be going to a company for paid training I have a goal and am so excited to be able to save and like you said not worry bt a due date im so excited for this journey especially doing it as a women and setting the bars for my hood and other women such a blessing bc we’re I come from alot of people have died due to guns violence drugs etc and it’s really sad to see im making it out the hood is a feeling like no other

@@KingJuanGaming I work for LRS lake shore recycling systems in Chicago. It all depends on the union contract when I started I came in at 25hr and we just did our new contract with the union and they changed it now it’s 18 months to hit scale compared to 30 months so I was within that time frame so I’m at 41hr and every year for the next 5 years it’s $1.50 a year raise
@@JoshG2301 how can I find about which companies have unions like that? I would’ve thought waste management was like that since that’s one of the biggest companies but I guess it really is different every city and state
@@KingJuanGaming well waste management is the same union as LRs here in Chicago but I guess it varies from state to state for us here waste is the biggest company in garbage industry here in Chicago. Find out with waste in your area what’s the starting pay and what’s the process on getting scale how long does it take or ask a garbage man from waste see what he tells you

Both of those good careers idk how you gone do both at the same time tho 🤔 Coca Cola and dollar general both pay well and they’re good jobs. You should do well over there. Truck Driving can be a great career if you make good decisions with your income. If your working for a company and they offer 401k or IRA Have 6 to 10 percent automatically taken out of your ck or open a roth . point being retirement savings is a must you don't want to be 70 and driving still its hard . Think life after driving its a good career.

Also the more people who join can, which people join 24/7 Effects the pay rates. Also the misconception is folks hear CDL & Directly tie it to trucking which is an issue. What you listed were also divisions in trucking not what you can do with them
I totally agree with you. Truck driving is not for everybody and you got to have a strong mentality to pull through in this industry. Patience is another skill that you got to have and health is wealth.
Just because people get their CDL doesn’t affect pay rates. It’s the new owner ops that accept any pay rate thrown at them. It ain’t no negotiation at all.
I mean when you get your CDL what can you do with them other than trucking? 🤔 I’m confused on that one.
I made the video on my personal experience. I can’t speak for everybody else. Some people get they CDLS and it was the worst decision they could make but for me it work out for the better for me
@@GrandMasterDeeTV Mega carriers play a roll in the rates, they have the majority especially compared to the O/O’s. I watch the Authorities increase/ Decrease weekly.
Shippers of course want product moved at a lower cost & that’s when the broker comes in & they have a bidding war against each other leaving “No room” for negotiation because of their customer. For example TMC cut a rate from 6K to 3 from an O/O.
Trucking on the other you can 2x - 3X your income quicker than other trades like being an lineman ( don’t have to have a CDL But is a + ) also folks don’t look into becoming a crane operate which requires your CDL. Which again everyone ties CDL with trucking when you have 2 other options
You right I didn’t think about it like that.
I also agree there are other trades that can triple your income. Trades give you the opportunity of getting a degree in a shorter time and cheaper vs going to college and you can make higher income coming out of school than somebody that goes to college

most mega companies have an 9-18 months contracts for paying for your cdl's.
@@YADAMNDADDY 9-18 months is a long time to work with no pay though maybe I should save up for it first but then you need experience anyway before you get good pay right so I'm not sure which way to do it
@@prodev4012 you get paid during that time just not top dollar, 9 months flies by. think about it march the 1st of this year is basically 9 months ago. also, some of your local ltl companies have program also, so that way you're already at a good company. let say today was your first official day of your 9 months contract you would be done by July of next year. I'm personally not going that route to get my CDL but I understand that route.
Dealing with weather is part of the job , you just get your sleep and when the weathers bad you slow down keep your distance and stay alert

Get started gonna have to do local work until your 21 or 22 depending on the requirements in your state
With the knew law pass recently allowing 18 years old to get there cdl is pretty cool. I wish I could’ve got my CDL at 18 I would’ve been started a long time ago. Trucking is a great career. You’re young so you have time to try different things and find out what you like the best.

Tanker pays ok the money really comes from foodservice (us foods, Sysco, performance food group etc) it’s hard work for sure and I’m set to make 150k this year
