It really was visible all across the US last night, and probably will be again tonight due to massive solar storms. The thing is, it's so faint this far south you really can't tell with your eyes. You have to set up a camera with long exposure.
I live in the midland Texas area but not sure if we could see them even if we didn’t have this cloud cover. I know to many flares from the oil patch light up the skies at a distance
