Thujan acting normally while you over-acted was a great dynamic. It made it super funny.

Sp200 vs Sh9 blind test would be interesting🔥
That's what I am interested in... Apart from the attenuated volume and the screen on the sh9, I don't know what else is different except MAYBE some better internal components. They cost about the same though so it is different than the sh9 vs the sp400 imo. The SP400 is certainly not worth the extra money. I would get a burson way before stacking the sp and m 400 units.
I got the SP400, It was one of those amps that needed an adjustment period due to the difference in sound & technically ability over the Drop THX (NFB1 i could go on) amps. I still laugh at the reviews going around saying "needs high volume" because they read it on a forum Because high ohm (HD800 or low sensitivity (planar many) on XLR don't even reach 40 to be deafening. in fact 30 is about the right level. Obviously if you have a "bad" dac (incorrect output voltage) then you might need to bump it up. On a note directly related to this video I tried the SH9 as well, I couldn't really tell the difference at first, after a while it was clear the SP400 had better layer separation per channel, So i understand the SH9 being more... "musical" as it's less for you to concentrate on.

the people at ASR will hate with video. how can an amp with exactly the same specs as the other sound different if they are volume matched? IMPOSSIBLE!!!! god i hope they see this even if its not perfect science 8/2 is very low odds of luck just not under 1%

I had the sh-9 and many such amps, I think the difference is how the sh-9 is pushing the balanced signal to 2v as opposed to 4v. The advantages mentioned here about the sh-9 were all things I attribute to single ended amp listening, fuller, musical. Balanced seems to be more technical, wide, good extension but too much focus on treble and sucked out mids.

Great review, loved the attempt to get hard data; however, I feel I must point out that it is not a ‘double-blind’ test. A critic might point to the fact that the subject choose the unit that the reviewer had expressed a prior preference for; did the reviewer somehow communicate his preference non-verbally? I’m not sure how a double-blind could be setup without a switching mechanism or a third party operating out of sight.
I didn't but even if i did, thujan needs to have some magic powers to see through to choose the one I preferred

Hi Jay. I wonder when you will get Gustard X16. I just got it this Friday. I must say the best . The small sound stage, but so smooth and musical, . Owned many Gustard, also many others.

How would you compare the SU9 with Topping D70S and Gustard X16?
I have been arguing with some ASR members about the difference between measurements and sound. What measures well might not have the best sound for a person. R2R DACs for example don’t measure as well as ES9038Pro or AK4499 DACs but the often sound better (Denafrips Ares II and Schitt Bifrost for example vs Topping D90, SMSLM400, etc).
I really doubt you can pass an AB test on the SU-9 and M400.... and thumbs up for the AB test showing expensive cables are not worth it....

Sorry , but the Word you use so often is not "egg setera", but correctly it is: ET CETERA! This is Latin and means "and others" there are certainly NO Eggs inside!^^ Aks the Audiophiliac, he uses the Word correctly! And: It´s not English, it is ancient LATIN...(which i learned at school back then... (in the ancient years lol)
Agreed. However, English is not his first language, so he speaks well considering. What annoys me more is people who write etc as 'ect'!

But, the reason I mentioned it is that jay and also the audience here can learn a little bit about using or spelling words correctly. It is not a shame to use false pronunciation when you did not learn it better. It only is a shame if we refuse to go on to learn in our lives. And, the second thing I mentioned, is that it really annoyed me - especially THIS word! It´s not even English at all! it is 100% a Latin word and in no way an English one. That said: It´s an international term! And a smart one like jay has a responsibility to his followers/subscribers!
He is an incredibly nice and smart guy, so he has the power to influence a lot of people Even young people! And therefore he should improve his flaws to be a proper role model. Not all at once, but one that is so easy to handle like "et cetera" should not be a problem.

In my country, native german speakers use to speak german - especially Grammatics - like uneducated idiots when they interact with foreigners! And this way, those people, who TRULY WANT TO LEARN CORRECTLY, only learn to talk like idiots! And this cannot ever be the goal of a teacher, doesn't it? I - my personal opinion - I am disgusted with people who speak to others as if they were idiots who cannot learn the language of the country they live as a guestworker - and later on, they make fun of them with words like: "OH you are in Austria for 15 years now? And still, you talk like a toddler before preschool? "

And guess what? It´s always those people that are upset when I tell them what's on the table lol... And so I get upset more and more over time! I am just glad that it makes a difference in conversation so that I don´t have to deal with this anymore!

That was complete cringe! Terrible! Please try new stuff, and have fun. But that was horrible IMHO. It didn't even remotely make any sense. But it seems I'm in the minority.
