Wow! That's me in 1989! (I'm Dean wearing the goofy spring-loaded glasses). A friend told me they saw this on-line and I couldn't believe it. I still remember the fun we had putting together these shows. As a kid it was a great experience (if not incredibly corny by today's standards).
yeah I know. your comment is 5 entire years old but I wanted to comment anyway. My friend Mike Simpson was one of the original cast members way back in about 1977.
Do you know where I can find more episodes? My boyfriends mum debora waters was a weekly singer in the late 70s and I'd love to get some episodes for her/reunions!
@@RebeccaChalon Good question. I know CTV here in Winnipeg kept copies of those shows for a number of years, but I'm sure they are long gone now.(unfortunately)
YTV must have been a bit hard up for Canadian content in '89 if they were playing disco era Let's Go episodes. At the time they would have just seemed dated, not being old enough to be retro cool. The show ran until 1987, so the late period episodes would have seemed fairly contemporary. The theme song was sung by one time Guess Who and Brave Belt singer Chad Allen.
My guess.. I think YTV was still pretty young and needed any content they could buy for cheap to fill time. It was a chance to see the old shows I saw as a younger kid. I really missed an opportunity to tape some shows on VHS tape, which was finally relatively affordable for me, that now seem to be lost in history.
In my memory I always heard Burton Cummings singing it but just now hearing it, I realized I was wrong. Thanks for the info, now i know why it sounds so Guess Whoesque!
My older sisters (13 and 15 at the time) used to watch this show way back in the early 80's, I hated it. I was 11 then. my family was mixed blood (half native/half white)...this show was produced in Winnipeg...an I never really noticed till now how...."white" the show is.
I don’t think that surprising if you consider that studio heads and advertisers were white males who didn’t think there was money to be had in diversity.
Lynn Bechard-Hulley I know my mom and her friends and sisters all auditioned and her sister and many of her friends got in she didn’t she is now a working actress and her sisters a teacher none of her friends went into performance art 😹
As a teen I was too old for this show, but I would occasionally tune in to see Janet (Janice ) wearing tight pants .Come back Janice I still love ya ! " A lot of comedians like to go in pairs, like laurel and Hardy and the 3 Stooges" mmm hmmm
LOL! - "In Stereo (Where Available)" - It sure as hell wasn't available on CTV in 1979! I always found it amusing that YTV used to proclaim all of its shows to be in stereo in the early days regardless of the age or source of the show. Another great clip Retrontario - keep 'em coming!
Kids in this day and age definitely would laugh at this show, but these were the days when us kids then used our own imaginations with often great results;no computer or Internet did that for us.I'll admit not liking Let's Go! because there were a few times where I had no choice but to watch it when cable wasn't an option.I appreciate it now for the fine piece of Canadiana it is,that's for sure.
I used to love Let's Go! But now YTV is just so shitty that I don't want the channel on our basic cable package anymore. All of the really good shows that YTV used to air in the now time have been moved to Teletoon.
Not sure if it's still up, but when CTV Winnipeg (CKY) was celebrating its 50th anniversary the past few months, they had a full episode up on their website.
@SnowbirdFlock Yeah, I was looking the guy up after I posted that comment, and it's probably not him. Looks really familiar though. My mistake. Oh well... have a good one, Snowbirdflock.
@joadhenry I can't find a link on their main page anymore. But just type in slash 50 years at the end of their address to get to the site. Select "Watch Videos", then "Week 5".
@Gearstation2 Uh, they were ALL in glasses. Bahaha!, just being silly. I think you're talking about Gavin, but Tesla's played by Jonathon Young, but I guess it could be the same guy, maybe
What was the kids' show from back then where they sang the mailing address? All I remember is a part about "Montreal, Quebec", and this show apparently was out of Winnipeg?? Anyone remember?
+Dan P Nope. That was Janis Dunning. Romper Room had many host and from what I remembered the last host was Fran Preppart. Lets Go came from Winnipeg's CKY Studio's and was a Saturday morning program that aired on CTV
The shit that pops into my head in the evenings.. Haven't seen this in 40 years and it's even worse then I remember. Better go track down intros for Circle Square and Romper Room for the hat trick of dumpster fires.

My friend Trevor and Keith were on it as well, I don't see them though?

Oh man! Im trying to find some of her singing!

I couldn't help but shout out "Let's Go!" at the :41 mark. The song came flooding back.
I watched it on CTV when I was a kid. I've never forgotten that song intro.
Same here every Saturday:)!
I only wish I could forget...
i'd kill for one of those t-shirts
Yeah they're cool aren't they? I'd love one also!
I was on this show as a kid...but not this episode. Would LOVE to see other episodes. And I really wish I still had the t-shirt!

Vapour Trail71 wow !

Are you an actor today, or are you involved in any kind of theatrical works? How did you get this "job" anyway? Loved the show... Lynn

i hated these kids ,,,,,=^..^=,,,, full of shit
This was the very height of their success. Eventually the show would decend into a drug-fueled freek show driven by fame, sex and heroin. So sad.
I was on one of the original Let's Go segments filmed in Winnipeg. The theme was Greek Mythology and I was Medusa. That was around 1974.
Omg I love this. What memories!!!!!!

I used to love this show! Very nostalgic!
Holy god!! You are the king of RUclips!!

I think that kid on the far right, with the glasses, is on the show Sanctuary on the Space channel now. I think he plays Nikola Tesla.

Awesome! I've been trying to track down some Let's Go footage for awhile now.
@moomoolemonful1 yeah you should probably ask him first....if he wants to sell I'd give him 125 for it...I was a big fan back in the day...
@Gearstation2 Hopefully all these kids did carry on in showbiz. They all came across as very likeable. My siblings & I loved this show
@brithgob got it...thanks...wish I could download it...I'm making a retro Canadian TV project...doesn't seem to be a way though...
Great Vid! Thanx! No chance you have the opening and closing to Sidestreet which was rerun on YTV in the late 1980's?
This is how I'll dance 0:35 in front of my boss when I quit my job
What was the kids' show from back then where they sang the mailing address? All I remember is a part about "Montreal, Quebec", and this show apparently was out of Winnipeg?? Anyone remember?
Nevermind . . . it was called "Kidstuff". :)
@brithgob How can I find it? I've been searching the site with no luck..
@richardthewriter very cool! This is a great old Canadian kids show...
I liked watching this when I was little.
Does anyone have any clips from The Bookstop, also taped in Winnipeg. I was on a couple of episodes as a kid, can't find anything about it anywhere.
I remember a lot of TV shows that came out of Polo park. Great memories!
wow. now that's retro!
@moomoolemonful1 sell me that shirt!!
That's not the same woman from Romper Room is it?
+Dan P Nope. That was Janis Dunning. Romper Room had many host and from what I remembered the last host was Fran Preppart. Lets Go came from Winnipeg's CKY Studio's and was a Saturday morning program that aired on CTV
I remember miss betty before miss fran

Lol same. Nearing 1am. Checked out The Circle Square intro just before this. Forgot about Romper Room.
This program was total rubbish.
