Born and raised here and always hear it's boring here nothing to do. But wouldn't you run into the same stuff anywhere you have lived for any extended period of time? But for the locals the BLOCK is getting one hell of a renovation. The old mayor is part owner so the north side will be back to its glory days soon enough.

South Bronx here. Soundview Bronx River Projects. Moving to Binghamton was the best choice I ever made. I went from making no money and having shit to making $85,000 on my own. Rent is cheap and houses are cheap. Outside of Binghamton you can get some good real estate. This area is definitely a hidden gem and only bums with no ambition can’t see it. The USA as a whole is mad expensive, NYC, Boston, Miami and every other spot is unlivable. Binghamton is definitely a good spot. Drugs and violence are now an American norm everywhere, there’s no running away from it

If not for Binghamton University the entire County, and the City of Binghamton especially, would be a desolate ghost town. As it is, the BU students and faculty are a life line for the economy. It will never be the industrial hub that it once was (at one time 1/4 of the nation's population lived within 250 miles and if it was produced, it was produced in Binghamton) but it is coming back. Downtown most distinctly.
I've lived in other areas of Upstate NY and trust me...Binghamton is one of the nicest. The services are top notch, housing is not crazy over priced (unless you're a renter...the student housing market has driven prices through the roof) and all in all it's still a very progressive, inclusive and diverse place.
Try living in Amsterdam, Gloversville or Johnstown, all 3 that have no BU to sustain them and you'll get an idea of what Binghamton COULD be. Not what it IS.
And...to be fair, much of this was filmed in poorer areas. Riverside Drive, the West Side almost in its entirety, the majority of the South Side, East Side and even North Side are great neighborhoods.
South Mountain, much of it in the City, is very, very nice. Don't judge the Book of Binghamton by this cover....

Binghamton has cleaner water then Endicott and endwell, doing that in Endicott would have a little more activity. Theres alot of interesting self contracter built houses that are bug infested. depending on where or what time of day near the avenue area, there's more boarded up places and I have personally been stabbed three times here in Endicott in a home that's now boarded up by two crips in march 2022 and I never got justice bc Endicott police are corrupted

This video is deceptive and inaccurate. This video paints a very false picture. The two to three blocks shown in this video are the most rundown areas of the city. This is not representative of Binghamton at all. Worse, it was filmed in the winter when all the beautiful green tree leaves are gone and the gray overcast clouds of winter make this appear much worse than it really is. All that was missing was the somber funeral music! Virtually every city has a run down area and to feature this in a video as if the entire city is like that is very deceptive. Going down the same street *three times* to make it look like the run down area is bigger than it actually is, again is deceptive. I wonder why the very nice, modern semi-pro baseball stadium only a few blocks away was not shown in the video, or the renovated train and bus stations next to it, or the new, modern, multi-million dollar student housing buildings, the new library, the renovated downtown area, the new highways and bridges, the many nice parks, the beautiful rivers, the rolling green hills, the golf courses, swimming pools, tennis courts, freshly renovated schools, etc? Three thumbs down for this video.
