Nice video. My mother did volunteer work at Lourdes Hospital. We lived on Edwards Street back in the day. We loved going to the park for ice skating and the free merry-go-round. Would love to see a drive thru in the neighborhoods, particularly Oak Street, Main Street and others. Thanks!👍🏼
Great videos! I grew up in Endwell. I moved away for good in 1980 after college and grad school at SUNY Cortland, but have visited occasionally since then...I recognize the stately homes on Riverside Drive...I hope some of them have been restored, as a few were looking run-down even in the early to mid-1970's! Hope to see a future drive through Endwell, maybe on Watson Boulevard from the IBM Country Club all the way to Endicott's North Side. My last visit to Upstate NY was in 2019, and I made sure to get a decent Italian meal at Consul's...I don't miss the weather, but I sure miss the food!
Nice video….y’all have to remember it was January 22…. Winter is gray and dreary… this day the sun is shining….Bingo gets a bad wrap… I chose family and work over warmth and traffic…I travel for work and believe me there are so so many worse places to live…. Videos are great ….
1:14 in this general area things changed a lot in the late 1960s. The Holiday Inn at 0:42 was The Treadway Inn and I remember it being built. The whole area around it was cleared--one year before it was all low buildings and houses. All torn down. Where the Student housing is now was a factory called "BBB." I think it had something to do with EJ but I really was too young to remember. I do remember it being a cool old building and in my child's eye all the cool old buildings were being torn down and as a bigger kid and an adult I never saw anything built to take their places. I am glad things are now taking the place of all those vacant lots.
I saw an interview once with Ray Davies lead singer for The Kinks who said when he was on tour he used to love milk shakes and would try them at every town they went. I remember him saying the absolute best milk shake he’s ever had in his life was in Binghamton NY. He didn’t say what the name of the place was but I always remembered that.
Hi Frank, just watched your video. Love Riverside drive. I am a graduate of Davis College. Just clarification on Davis: we did not close down. In 2019 the college moved to share a campus with Word of Life Bible Institute up in the Adirondacks. We also have online college classes. Thank you for sharing the great views of the Triple Cities.
Nice video but you missed a few major talking points. South Washington street bridge one of the only triple parabolic bridges in the us, and on the historic registry… Kilmer mansion now a temple… Davis college also the site of white city amusement park in the early 1890’s maybe? But nice drive, keep posting them videos!
Can you give us a ride? We are two BU Post-Graduate students who came back after working in NYC, so we don't have a car! I'm just kidding. Sadly, the blue bus won't take us to campus...
Bingo is a nice area. I lived in Ithaca for three years and enjoyed my time there. I see a lot of these upstate cities and towns so run down. It's too bad Albany only cares about NYC. They can attract businesses and factories with low tax incentives to these areas. Upstate NY could be thriving if the Governor did the right thing.
Need to slow down and show the beautiful mansions and houses, although a lot of them have been torn down or turned into something else. Used to have a lot of really big beautiful mansions.
I'll be honest with you I'm homeless so I don't get to see a lot of Binghamton even though that's where I'm from and that's where I live can you do a video of them like around where they're ripping down the parking garage also maybe even the new fire department they're building?
When did they make it 3 lanes with a dedicated turning lane? God, I hate how shortsighted highway engineers can be. They THINK they made it so bike friendly with that bike symbol on the roads. But by narrowing the lanes to accommodate the middle turning lane, they made it far worse. What a shame too, since Broome, even without bike lanes, was one of the safest bike areas I have ever been to. So much better than where I am now where our equivalent of the Vestal Parkway did the something similar...added an extra car lane in both directions but didn't widen the roadway. So what used to be a decent shoulder to ride on with no reason for cars to be over that far is now a much more narrow car lane with no shoulder at all. White line is literally on the curb. A total death trap.
No. Binghamton has looked that way for awhile now. Long before COVID. History's worst mayor of any city ever, Matt Ryan put the final nail in the coffin of Binghamton about 15 years ago.
Frank, going down Riverside Drive, please mention the beautiful Danielle house for family to stay when a child is ill at Lourdes Hospital.. ~Danielle House~ even shows recent ads of how it takes care of lounging, sleeping quarters for family on overnite stays. Lovely corner home, across the street from east end of Lourdes Hospital! Thank you! (Read story how Danielle House came about....named after Danielle Stento) too much to tell here.
Hi Frank. Can you do me a favor? Shouldn't be too hard. First, invent a time machine. Then, once you've got that down, then drive to the intersection of Floral and Main and drive onto what was then North Floral Ave. and get a view of my house, now gone? Let me know when you get it all? Thanks, man! Yes, I'll sign up and Follow now.
My husband lived in the red house on the right just after the bridge as a kid...my orthodontist had an office in his home on the right a little ways after that...there was a synagogue on the left in that same block area if I recall..have numerous family members buried in the cemetery across from the CVS....anyone remember Pancho's Pit in the CVS plaza... and the ice cream store used to be Carvel's....thanks for the memories

Frank, having been gone for 25 years enjoying your videos. Many memories but struggle to remember many streets passing by.
Thanks for the video. That was always one of my favorite roads to drive down. Amazing how much has changed over the years down by the arena.
I grew up in the area. It is beautiful in Spring and summer. But I live down south now and this is a reminder as to why :)
My man frank you allways post good stuff.
Great stuff, can you do the 40 chenango bus route?
I’ll add it to the list of ideas

Thanks for this video! Selfish request: Would you consider doing a drive around Endwell, my childhood home?
I plan on making these road drives into a series on the channel called “driving Binghamton” I think.
@@fgpalm I'll look forward to your various drives!
Thanks for the video. I moved to Florida in 2020, and I do miss home, although not the cold weather. Be safe.
This would be a much more beautiful ride in the Spring with all the flowering trees!
I plan on making another video in the spring

Well, that ice cream place was a Carvel in the past. He was likely talking about Pat Mitchell's.
Thanks for the video lots of memories for me.

Going to see the Whalers! Just like yesterday!
But yes, I always loved Riverside and taking that direction to campus or to Wegmans. I live in such a dreary part of town now...
As much grief people give Binghamton, when the sun is shining it can be beautiful! 6* sucks though.
Deff Aiming to shoot videos that I don’t have to get out of my car for lately lol
I know the area very well. I've traveled it for many years. 😎👍
