@@kannywoodtv5470 THIS WERE THE FIRST ARRIVED....With a total of 37,000 Africans that arrived in Virginia from Calabar in the 18th century, 30,000 were Igbo according to Douglas B. Chambers. The Frontier Culture Museum of Virginia estimates around 38% of captives taken to Virginia were from the Bight of Biafra. AND IT WENT ON FROM THERE!!..In the United States the Igbo were most numerous in the states of Maryland (coincidentally where there is a predominant population of recent Igbo immigrants) and Virginia, so much so that some historians have denominated colonial Virginia as “Igbo land.”

I lived in Enugu for years schooling. The igbo man is judged by how happy and well taken care of his wife and kids are. Even your own parents and siblings will hold you accountable if your wife is not looking well taken care of. You are actually married to the whole community if you marry igbo man. Every one calls you "our wife'. Even other tribes men married to igbo woman get the same benefits, ask FFK!! You cannot say anything bad about FFK, the whole igbo people will come for you!!!!

They have all the bad character a man could have in marriage . Yoruba tradition pampers the men a lot but does not favour the women. My dear, it has nothing to do with religion rather it has everything to do with our tradition. In Igboland a men who don't take good care of wife and children are not respected and an Igbo man like to be respected. In short, who we are is first and foremost determined by our traditions and that is where we derive our identity as a people. We are Igbos before Europeans set a foot on our soil and introduced Christianity in our land. Stop that inferiority complex and devaluing of our traditions. We won't allow any foreign religion to determine who we are.
