80crv2 steel quickly is becoming like a National Steel of Finland, LOOL! We have this obsession that we have to have National thing for everything: national fish, national bird, national tree the list goes on, lol.
I met the owner of the Laurin Metalli (maker of 80crv2). Hes of third generation of steel making (also great knife designer). Nice, down to earth guy. Did also interview with him. Will post that soon in my channel.

80CRV2 is a great tough steel for Bushcrafting tasks, and I have been a big fan of Brisa for years and NKD Nordic Knife Design (an offshoot of Brisa). So many great and affordable knives often offered in multiple steels and grinds. I would love to see them do a Sabre grind and Scandi Grind with a convex at the bottom in the future.

@gideonstactical I don't own an out and out bushcraft tool which is an activity I am being more and more drawn to. For some reason never made the transition from survival knife to bushcraft. I did go from Survival to a more tactical application and have just used one of these two styles to meet any woodcrafts wants. I really like the look of the handle and the fact that it looks a bit "beefier" than a Puko or a Mora. The blade thickness towards the tip made me think strong tanto and as you mentioned the clip point or spear point is very common so I like this as it's more unusual. I guess I am looking for something rugged but also something that fills a missing niche. I feel I need something that isn't going to break which is why I haven't pursued such a tool but this is the best one I've seen so far so thanks for showing something new!

Very interesting, lovely blade design. Puuko knives are the original outdoor bushcraft design. Knife Country shows model Brisa 302 Trooper 115 w/ 80crv2 carbon steel 0.8% and 0.5% chromium -- so, yeah, that blade is going to rust & pit if not cared for. Amazon shows 2 related ENZO models -- no. 95 w/ B690 stainless, and the very similar Enzo model 115 in Elmax (considerably higher price). These are all fantastic designs. I would go with the stainless Bohler steel 'cause I don't like rust. Thanks for another great knife review. FYI: Enzo seems to have more of a traditional Scandi grind

For those who are really interested in knives and their history. There are two amazing books about the Finnish puukko-knives written by Anssi Ruusuvuori: Puukon historia (The History of the Puukko), 703 pages, published in 2010 and Puukon Historia 2 (The History of the Puukko 2), 767 pages, published in 2012.
Anssi Ruusuvuori (b. 1963) is an architect, nonfiction writer and a master puukkosmith. The books are in Finnish but they are mostly full of amazing pictures of traditional puukkos, sheaths and puukko belts. Browsing the pages is like looking at art books. I could spend hours watching those thousands of beautiful pictures.
The History of the Puukko books are so far the most extensive and thorough work on the origin of the puukko and different puukko models. The writer has studied for example the entire National Museum of Finland's extensive collection of puukkos. In addition to high-quality pictures, the books contain a considerable amount of new puukko information, which is based on a careful analysis of the examined puukkos, partly on previously unknown written sources, as well as on the latest scientific studies. Book 2 is the first book that also presents the puukkos of the Sami-people from Lapland and their history and maker's markings. The books introduce e.g. a new puukko classification system, several previously unknown puukko models and puukko manufacturers.
If you search: Puukon historia book in RUclips, there is a video by James Parus who is introducing those two books in english. Just look at those pictures. Sorry, I'm drooling.
By the way, "Korpisoturi" can be translated into English as "Wilderness Warrior", or "Deep forest Warrior".

The Caps Lock key is located above the Shift key next to the "A" on the keyboard. The Caps Lock key on your keyboard activates an alternate input mode that allows you to type a second set of characters instead of the original one. This set of keys produces uppercase letters instead of lowercase letters and special characters instead of numbers.

Hahhahaha I love these comments. Out of the last 12 videos, 4 of them i pointed out serious problems or just don’t like the design. SOG Altair FX, Buck 117, OKC SPL, 511 skylight weight. That is 33% of videos. Second, I am making ZERO money off this knife. It is NOT of my affiliates, but still singing it’s praises because it’s a good knife. Like I do in every video. If it’s good I tell you and if not I tell you. 👍

Singing….no, definitely NO! Knife….great design….ruined by inferior steel….No matter how you talk it up the steel will not hold an edge like other modern steels. Lastly, Huckberry gets it name for the negative label, “Huckster”, it is a woke corporation from San Francisco. Part of their marketing plan is to enlist RUclips creators to hock their brand. I miss your Christian-value based roots.

      1. Hahah glad you enjoyed the sing
      2. I will have to disagree with you on that steel. When a tops Bob is $150 with 1095 $30 more for 80crv2 is a good deal to me.
      3. Huckberry is named after the story’s of Huckleberry Finn and the founders love for adventure and how the stories impacted their life.

@bobinmontana777 Most super steel aren't that great for bushcraft knives imo. They are harder to sharpen and usually aren't as tough. Way more expensive too

    • @bobinmontana777
      @bobinmontana777 6 месяцев назад

@@SunGodLuffy_5 I agree with the expense. I’ve been sharpening knives for years and the hardest “super steel” has never been “hard” to sharpen. But, if I owned a knife that needed to be sharpened so frequently “in the field” I’d buy a knife with better steel. Knife steel has improved since the days of Kephart. As the knife industry has matured so have I. Used to be while processing one elk a knife needed touching up on a stone a time or two, now you could do two animals minimum without dulling.

@@gideonstactical You may know me by this time, for years I’ve enjoyed your content. But I dislike the advertising for “sponsors”, or for that matter anything. I appreciate content from outdoor channels that only offer opinions on field tested products. Therefore, the viewer is educated and may decide, based on their specific needs if they want to go out and buy an item or not. I read somewhere about Huckberry and some woke ideology involving their San Francisco roots and New York operations, etc. In terms of the radios you promote, I could tell you about many other radios with more power, range and features, often for less money. But if you’ve read to this point, I think I understand why you’ve become part of your sponsors marketing strategies. I appreciate you, your values as a Christian and a family man.
