  • A man from Ukraine says he has had many glimpses of his true nature but he also loses the experience many times. Rupert tells him that he loses it because he thinks it is a state that starts and stops, and encourages him not to be seduced by an expansive feeling.
    This clip has been taken from Rupert's five day Retreat at Home in November 2020. To watch the full video, please follow the link below.

      I'd disagree with that - I think the ego mind is very interested in peace but it picks from the "menu" of possibilities it can make sense of, namely objective experience (material objects, drama, animalistic satisfaction). The happiness this teaching speaks of is beyond what the ego can comprehend so when it tries to imagine it providing that peace and happiness it simply cannot and then reverts to those lesser forms. My two cents.

    We are conditioned by our upbringing. But are we aware of that fact, also our minds tend to wander, if it wanders off can you just realise that fact that you have become unaware.
    in that realisation that you are inattentive, there is awareness. The more we are aware of our being and of focus the more one comes to know that preferred state of quiet and peace which is actually who we are, but in being conditioned by society , parents, peers, we have moved away from it. but dont panic, pay attention to the fact that you are alive and observe your thoughts as much as you can, observe all you do during the day, observe everything. One day you realise ,that state you previously regarded as fleeting, has stayed, because it was never a state to be obtained in the first place, it is you , without all the baggage of conditioning and image.

    Realising that bliss and happiness are mental states that are impermanent by nature, and not the "goal" of awakening, and being comfortable with that, is a mark of spiritual growth. If you try to be blissful all the time, you are either not being truthful to what is (the fact that you are not in a blissful state), clinging onto hope (a false mental idea of permanence) and clouding what is always present ("I am").

    • @rickrab842
      @rickrab842 3 года назад +2

      Nice reply. Might just be me, but it seems that a lot of guru's/teachers speak of bliss and happiness as our true nature and that was always confusing to my western mind. I always equated bliss to a very high, pleasurable feeling. Only relatively recently have I come to the awareness that it is peace within that is the "set point". All other emotions arise and flow through; they are transient. If I just "be", with no thought of the past or future, the experience is peace, which is calm, tranquil, content; nothing else is needed.

    • @Da_Xman
      @Da_Xman 3 года назад

      Waaaaaaaaaay too simplistic to say without a complete explanation of the nature of that "nothing" to which you refer. Beware that it can also be exceptionally misleading if "nothing" is misunderstood as the "nothing" typically referred to in the mundane world. There are those who do experience a very profound "nothingness". However, without appropriate insight into the true, authentic nature of that "nothingness", they stop cold and remain firmly fixed in and proud of their accomplishment. In the grip of that falsehood, they'll actually attempt to enforce it on others.

I do believe to maintain higher states daily practice needs to be done . You never loose the knowing but you can loose the clarity through stress etc . This can come back easily if we de stress and connect to source and union yoga unifies meditation you can drop into connection within minutes or seconds with daily practice but if less frequent it's harder to connect in .This is my recent experience I felt like a fallen angel but know the way back to self and grill connection like a shamen does . Bioenergetic consciousness awareness clarity knowing . You are the Chanel we only block ourselves from the Chanel staying clear, light body .

    "You're mistaking the state of the mind and body with pure happiness"
    But won't pure happiness be felt/sensed by the mind and body only? I so get his question. I've had that too. That feeling of pure bliss that comes and goes. Why? Can we not permanently rest in it? I do get it that it's always there and clouds cover it. So then can we not remove the clouds forever? Can we or can we not?

    • @oscardiaz9966
      @oscardiaz9966 3 года назад +2

      I think it’s simply a practice that requires repetition until we intuitively learn to cultivate and hone into that everlasting sense of peace, that background that’s truly always there. That’s why meditation is helpful because it helps train the mind to naturally commence to return and hone that focus despite the clouds that come by. Meditation (which can be done in a plethora of ways) simply trains your mind to turn this act of returning to complete neutrality into a reflex so that once we are out there experiencing life in the noisiest of places, we naturally hone into that neutrality. If you think about how Buddha ‘attained enlightenment” under a tree, it talks about how the “demon mara” tried to distract his attention/awareness. First through exciting ideas like wealth and beauty, and then through fear, like starvation and death. And yet, he continued simply letting it all go, accepting his potential death - persevering through exciting thoughts and the fearful ones until his mind learned to not even try to grasp onto any thought (emotions/concepts). So, it’s simply a matter of practice. There are no limitations because everything is an illusion, and everything is also self. Coming to terms that we aren’t real, that this individual sense of self is an illusion of the mind, can be helpful in this practice. We are the ego, and we are also beyond it. We are every rock, tree, creature, every life, every spirit haha. So, there are no true obstacles or enemies. Everything is a reflection. Have faith in your own self design. The self that is all of us. The ultimate self created a design for each of its different sense of self. You, me, and every other thing or being that existence all throughout reality. Get yourself a journal and write down these realizations. Write down that your sense of individual self is an illusion. Allow yourself to taste that bitterness, the more you affirm this to yourself, the more it goes from tasting bitter to feeling liberating. Good luck mate!
