If I read something sad, serious, or otherwise difficult, I need a fun palate cleanser in between. I am doing The 52 Book Challenge for 2023, and I have books chosen for all the prompts. However, I have swapped out several times. I am also in a library book group, so one book per month is selected.for me.
I love this so much. I love watching people's TBR videos, but I am such a mood reader that if I make a typical TBR, I end up in a huge reading slump because it might be a good book, but I am not feeling it, so I will not enjoy it. Thanks so much for this video!
Yes, very much a mood reader. I have a "I just want to wind down" prompt for bedtime reading. A cosy mystery, a classic, a reread, poetry, something that's not too challenging nor a page turner. Some audiobooks fit here too.
That's a great addition to the list! I must admit, I've been guilty of getting into something exciting and staying up far too late, letting future Rose pay the consequences.
Definitely a mood reader. Everytime i try to build a tbr , you can be sure those books will definitely not be read😅. I finally decided to choose book a as my mood of the moment permits.
Yup, I totally get that way, too! This TBR is working for me so far, but I think it's got a lot to do with the last prompt, where I don't have to pick any of them if I don't want to 🙂. I know if I did a game or pulled things from a cup or something, I'd probably not read nearly as much as I wouldn't want to read those things but also would feel guilty picking something else.
I am very much a mood reader! I tend to organize my TBR by genre or trope I want to read. (Lots of mystery/thrillers, something spooky, or maybe a specific era/decade.) I'm definitely going to give your method a try next month. This month I checked out a few too many book from my local library which now has wondering who the heck do I think I am? 😂 Like you, I have Lone Women and the Jimmy Juliano book on my TBR this month. I think you'll love The Soulmate, it was a 4-star read for me.
I hope it works for you! I'm almost done with Dead Eleven by Jimmy Juliano. It's going to take me a minute to process how I feel, though. I'm glad I did it early so I'll have time before my wrap up video.
Is that the cozy mystery one? I believe I saw that she has a cozy series that I'm really interested in trying after I get caught up with the Alaska one.
So let me know, are you a mood reader, or are you able to read anything whenever it's available?
My tbr is literally one book at a time.

“River Sing Me Home” was gorgeous. Loved every page.

Paige Shelton is great! She has an older series set in Broken Rope involving a cooking school and cowboy ghosts.

Yes, it is the Country Cooking School series. She has a couple other cozy mystery series as well. I just love the way she writes!
