Thank you, I'm 52 years old, grew up loving Metallica but how anyone cannot appreciate Miley's talent is just beyond me. She kills this, kills basically everything she tackles. She's literally a professional vocalist, songwriter and just entertainer in general. It's all she's done since she was a small girl.
The intro wasn't shaky at all the breath control tone and vibrato were spot on!!! Miley is a badass

I can't think of another woman who could have covered this better, nor another man, for that matter. The fact that Metallica played this with her shows the respect they have for her chops. Loved this in every way.
I thought of Stevie Nick's because of the low raspy voice, but Miley killed it.
She does a killer rendition of Temple of the Dog's "Say Hello 2 Heaven". She gives an amazing take on what Chris Cornell created.
Oh I think Rock is Miley Cyrus worse genre. She sounds terrible to me when she sings Rock. Country is the best genre for her to me

Say Hello to Heaven is one of my favorite songs and I think she did an amazing job. Obviously no one can touch Chris Cornell in a cover but her rendition was great.

I absolutely loved it and Miley did an incredible Job along with the babd but I have a very hard time imagining that it was the very first time they did this.
Miley is a musician first and foremost, even if she works in pop genres. She is Dolly Parton's Goddaughter.

Like you can dislike Miley as a person but you cannot deny her musical talent. She objectively has good vocal technique and has a great voice suited for rock. People who are hating this are simply letting their personal dislike for Miley undo their ability to see objective talent. Thank you for the reaction. I don't even think i dislike her as a person any more as much as i used to in the past! She clearly has changed drastically in the last 5-6 years and these changes made her way more interesting person than she ever used to be! She matured up, cut all the bs and basically transformed into completely different person! And i like now what i am seeing! Ever since she changed her image drastically, stopped singing bubble gum crap pop and cut all the nonsense regarding her piblic behavior - she became way way more likeable!

She's got a great voice for rock. Very reminiscent of Stevie Nicks.
She does rock covers better than anyone. She gets the feels right and has the voice for it. I like them better than her original stuff lol.

@@shegocrazy she’s a better singer than writer. Very annoyed she switched back after one rock inspired record. It was good but I think if she didn’t reinvent herself every record she could genuinely make a great one. And her newest record is not only pop but also not even good pop.
Omg as someone who likes a lot of her songs I would tell her don't do rock covers because it sounds bad. If she covers any genre other than her normal genre it has to be country. She sounds great doing country songs but if my intro to Miley was her singing a Rock song I probably would miss out on her singing non rock songs

Hey I’m a hardcore Metallica fan and I have to say Miley has an amazing voice and can sing whatever she wants to! Metallica put it out there for anyone to cover any song off the black album. Proceeds went to charity. It was amazing. This interview also has a heartfelt part where the Elton John praises Metallica and this song. It almost brought hetfield to tears.
I saw Metallica in concert 3 times, they were a big part of my teens and 20’s. I think this is amazing. Miley is amazing.

What's awesome about this performance, is that James takes a back seat and allows Miley to be front and centre. He doesn't need to inject himself into the song, but let's her have her moment while essentially performing as her backing band.

What’s underrated here is James ability to sing back up…he fuckin nailed every harmony to the note, played fantastic guitar…played the lead perfectly….oh, and also wrote all of it!!!
Not sure how long you have been a fan of Metallica but at one point around Puppets, he wanted to do just this. He just wanted to be the 2nd guitar player and do backup vocals when needed

We can't stop and frankly most of her hip-hop era was vapid BS with the sole propose of excluding herself from Disney (which I dont blame her for) but her musical talents were not on full display back then. It was really when She is Coming came out that things REALLY took off and even some of her Dead Pets album (like Karen dont be sad) showed she had some artistic ambition even if the whole album was a bit of a mess. Her artistry, I think, was all fully realized in Plastic hearts, which I think will only get more appreciation with time as more people re-discover her after the success of ESV.
I grew up LOVING Metallica and I RESPECT Miley for her talent and mostly for the shit she's had to put up with AND STILL COMING OUT ON TOP.

I never thought I would ever want to hear anything of Miley Cyrus, she was just a shallow pop star to me, until my son sent me this link, and it blew me away. That was a few months ago, and I keep playing it about every week or so. was amazed at her vocal range, loved her low range at the start, then she opened it up, wow, , and the harmonies fitted so well. I was never a Miley fan. I liked maybe two songs of hers. Until her "Plastic hearts" album. Since then I listen to everything she releases and I love everything she puts out. I think that she finally found her voice and isn't afraid of experimenting and searching forward. I just can't recommend her art enough. You should deffinitely hear some more Miley.

She made a decent one but she doesn’t stick to a genre enough to master it. Even her newest pop record isn’t even a good pop record as someone who listens to both genres. I hope on the next one she gets more rock producers so it’s not as polished.

The gatekeepers will be gatekeeping. They said the same s**t about Lady Gaga when she did "Moth into the flame" with them, even though she used to be in a rock band before becoming a huge pop star and is a genuine metalhead.
Even if you just do it on your own, you should listen to the studio version of this cover from the Metallica Blacklist album. In addition to Miley, it features Elton John, Yo-Yo Ma, Chad Smith, Robert Trujillo, among others. Amazing track, I too was skeptical, but this blew me away the first time I heard it.
Metallica asked all artist who wanted to cover one of the songs there way to do it... they produced the Blacklist album... anniversary it the Black Album
People like to hate on them because they made it big, which is usually rock heads. Metallica is one of the best to ever do it and can still put on a show. Miley is absolutely a great talent and vocalist.

thank you for reacting to this! i might not have listened to it otherwise. i'm a fan of all things music, but metallica is my favourite band. in my opinion, their first five albums are all masterpieces. i like the black album a lot more than some metallica fans do.
for me, this was a gem! i loved it. miley took it down a bit when james joined her on vocals so she didn't owerpower him, but then belted out her own parts in a way that made me look at the song a bit differently. really great sound, great version, i enjoyed it immensely. 🥰🙂

Miley rocked it! You should check out The Hu they cover several Metallica songs in Mongolian and i still loved it. The first time I heard them they were singing Yuve Yu their own song i didn't know what they were saying but I still love it its in my Spotify playlist
