Making a Solid Oak Top Wooden Workbench
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 13 сен 2024
- In this video I make a wooden workbench using 80mm thick oak boards that I got for free from a relative. They were sitting in a barn and had live edges on both sides so I had to use the chainsaw to straighten both sides of the board.
The legs and the frame is made from construction lumber which I had at home that were left from when we were rebuilding the roof of the house.
I didn't like the surface left from the power planer after applying the finish so I decided to hand plane the whole top again, also I put the boiled linseed on way too thick and it had trouble drying properly.
I got a new camera which I use from 2:15. This was my first project with the new camera and I was still learning how to use and that is why some of the footage is out of focus.
Hope you like it and please share, like, comment and subscribe for more videos.
I've had the chance to use this table a couple of times now. It's fun to whip out in front of people:) I can see what people are talking about when they say the legs are delicate, but they're design to support a "mostly" vertical load, not be torqued from the side or pushed back into place. If you just let the table open or close on it's own and don't force anything, it works great ruclips.net/user/postUgkxyFZUPFEey-PuqsPMxqaykBhgA1LWxFHh Once it's set up, it's pretty solid. My only gripe would probably be related to the clamps provided. They're not the highest quality. They do the job, so no big deal, but they could be better. All in all, pretty cool gadget.
This table is unbelievably beautiful. Thanks for sharing this video.
excellent work! This workbench will be around for generations to come! I agree that the builders info should be added to the bottom, in a few hundred years it will be nice to be remembered and let future generations know.
that's what I call a workbench strong built awesome job
Great piece no screws for leg joinery ,love that
Excellent job on the table. Will last for many generations.
First chain saw, then bow saw--funny! Gotta tell you, I had never seen forstner bits used in a hand drill before. Man, what an awesome project. Makes me wish I had been in on it.
Thank you very much! We started with a chainsaw but we got actually a better result using a bow saw. Forstner bits work great in a hand drill.
Thanks for watching
I'm going to try making this table, Thank You for taking the time to post this video, beautiful job!
Bravo momci, super ste.. Ovih dana kontam raditi stol za u vrt pa ste mi dali dobru ideju... Pozdrav iz Dalmacije
Beautiful, solid table! Great work!
This must be one of the best benches i saw on RUclips. And it is built to last many a generation of workers projects on it. Well done.
Thank you very much!
What a beautiful work of art!!! Very nice build!!
This is a s ton work..you’ll rock. Thanks for sharing
I could use a nice sturdy bench just like that one. Not overly complicated either.
Excellent!! It looks very solid. Congratulations. Greetings from Chile.
Nice job
I've got the common tools but don't have the uncommon, energetic, enthusiastic youngster to do the "hard yakka". Started out pretty rough and ready; ended up very strong and nicely put together IMHO. Probably be able to hand it down to the grandkids eventually, so a brass plaque with all the constructor's details should be screwed underneath!
Thank you very much!
Garage workshop i was watching this guy do, as you put it *jump shots, with a nail gun* this is more interesting.
I really liked the joints you created with those huge beams. Very interesting with the mortises and rabits.
Looks good :)
Thank you!
This is really great. With only a few power tools used inspires beginners to work on such a great project. You got me subscribed. And a thumbs up. Thanks for the video.
great sturdy workbench!!
Looks too nice for a workbench!
Very nice work. That thing looks heavy as crap.
Thank you! It is very heavy which makes it a great surface to work on.
very nice
Nice bench. And Kappa's!!
Magnificent
That's one nice bench, I'm jealous of your timbers.
Thanks a lot!
Beautiful Table 👍👍
Beautiful work, congratulations!
That's a very nice work bench.
Beautiful to watch
Sorry I look at you to France and I have not done the translation I wanted to tell you that you did a beautiful job
Thank you!
Beautiful work
Thank you!
amazing job, congrats! ✌
nice job. at first I was thinking why is he taking off the finished surface but yeah that turned out great.
I didn't really like the surface that was left using the power hand planer left so I decided to hand plane it.
Thanks for watching!
Odlično urađen radni astal ....svaka cast !
Must Need This strong ? Very good Table,Very good Work,Very High Cost too.
super build really nice
plz upload your first video about ball pein hammer
Looks great. :)
I like you dirty way. Not like those polished livingroom woodworkers on youtube. Some real world experience, dirty, corded and tought ;)
Of course now anytime you want to move THAT table you'll need a forklift!
Amazing work. I'm hoping to buid a bench to mount some of my tools. Also hoping to build a large dinner table in this way, just elongating.
If I had your skills, I would never have to buy tools or furniture, I'd just make it.
Nicely done. I was wondering why you took the top off after the first finish, but then I read the description. Never bad to show the mistakes.
Thank you very much!
Why did you apply oil and then plane it off? Were you not happy with the color?
me too i don't understand his move
Nice!
dobro je !
Hvala!
Is the wood you cut with a chain saw green, air dried, or kiln dried?
That thing is a bit flimsy, don't you think? A bet it would snap in half if I jumped on it...and a fully loaded mac truck landed on it at the same time! Just kidding about flimsy. That thing is a beast! Nicely done.
FarmCraft101 I was about to say.. before I read all of it, the jointery and support and everything is so sturdy
@Chris That's a good idea. By the way here are some great woodworking plans: LionWood.xyz
Muito bom😎🇧🇷
Nice, but very heavy. Just add a heavy vise and it's ready to be worked.
What kind of wood glue can be trusted to hold those massive boards together reliably?
why didn't you use the live edge? atleast on one side? They look great finished up
Nice slab! Nice infill plane! You finished the top before planing?
Yes, because I thought that I was done with the bench but I didn't like the surface left from the power planer so I decided to hand plane the whole top. Thanks for watching!
Qual programa você usa para fazer as edições de seus vídeos ?
is it hard wood that wood?
Is that a Holtey hand plane you are using?
Homemade one. I have a video on my channel about making it.
I will have to check that out, thanks.
What kind liquid did you apply on the table.
I wouldn't have cut the live edges off myself ,and would have made coffee tables with live edges
koji je drugi premaz?? bolje izgleda od lana
U biti je isto lan, al sam prvi put stavio ga predebelo i nije se mogo dobro posušit.
ok.thx
Make me one.
Great job Martin. Are you entering any of your recent tool videos for #TOOLMake16?
I have another tool made which I will hopefully finish editing before the deadline, if not than I will enter with this one probably.
Thanks for watching
Mekol je boljši....
:)
Salut
Pour ma part Jolie ouvrage
I'm having some difficulties translating this, but if I'm correct than thank you.
Sorry I look at you to France and I have not done the translation I wanted to tell you that you did a beautiful job
i would fuck up so bad
lucky lol
I'm going to make an assumption. Judging by your clothing and your ghetto fabulous tools your both from the jersey shore aren't you?
What a snob thing to say
This time I will use woodprix instructions to make it.
You can find nice instructions on woodprix website if you like to build it
good sIt's so simple, Just go to woodprix page and enter woodworkers world.
Of all wood working book I have read, this “pepe amazing plan” (Google it) is the perfect. My woodworking teacher recommends it to all of his scholars. I am surprised by the amount of detail the authors go into topics. I`m surprised by the material and didn`t have a hard time following the lessons.
New title suggestion: a bunch of irritating sounds to make you stop watching.
Странные Вы ребята, сначала обрабатываете маслом а потом стругаете.
Way too much work and mess for what it ended up being. Sorry
Great job and video!
When I built my workbench, I needed some longer clamps too. But instead of the way you solved your clamp-problem, I adapted an idea by Klaus Kiefer to my needs:

Give it a try. These extenders work really well and it's easier to apply even pressure than with your method.
