as a recruit in the Danish army in the early 70ies they still taught us to shoot using the M1. It is really an excellent gun!

I know Matt did a bunch of stress tests on the high point pistols, but I would love to see what happens if it's loaded with a high pressure bullet, because I don't think that was something he tested on them. 😂
Look up IV8888's test on Hi Points, he did the best ones including a way overpressured round with a bolt beat into the muzzle. It still didn't explode, just launched the bolt out. They had to put an overpressure round, bolt in the muzzle, and C clamp the whole thing shut to get it to blow. I think they filled the barrel w/ gunpowder too but I may be wrong.

iv8888 didnt use anfo or HE to spike the charge. Not sure if they tried a faster powder, which usually is enough. Also have more pressure if you use a slow-cure epoxy cap over the powder below the projectile. Good way to deal with post apocalyptic ammo thieves... just be sure to mark them innocuously.

The quick atom bomb explosion edits never fail to make me laugh unreasonably hard. Also, hearing Scott’s faint maniacal laugh in the background of the atlas stone hitting the zombie torso scene.

I’ve had the opportunity to shoot the Garand. It’s a heavy rifle and the recoil is not bad. Thanks for showing what it would be like if there was a failure. 👏👏👏
M1 garands were made to be blown up, it's their platonic duty. What's really sad is when they mod it
As a Garand owner myself, I was taught that you insert the en bloc clip into the magazine well and the move the bolt forward by hitting the handle with the heel of your hand.
Obviously you'll need another Garand to test this method.
Most of the time, I find I have to nudge her home. I may be wrong (I talk out of my backside a lot), but I believe I read somewhere that this was actually an intended design. Again: I piece things together with info I glean from sugar packets and the back of milk cartons, so take it with a grain of salt.
I usually use the bolt handle for leverage to push the clip all the way in. Have yet to have it go into battery when I let go, but I'm always a bit nervous. I do usually have to smack the bolt handle to get it to go all the way forward.

I have watched your other gun blow-ups, there were 'just guns' and very interesting. Watching the destruction of the M1 Garand... that hurt. Such an icon in the US history of guns. Side note: I have been present when a Garand was fed and 8X57MM Mauser round. Fortunately the shooter got off with just a small wood splinter in his left arm and other shooters on the line were not injured. Didn't get to examine the gun up close, all we could see was the stock was blown into two major pieces. The event wasn't nearly the destruction you just created.
This was a reproduction... wrong wood and color on the stock.
@TheSickjits yeah, Scott likes to break stuff on this channel but I doubt he'd destroy an actual ww2 Garand. WhistlinDiesel would though
@@TheSickjits Oh BS. Stocks can be refinished, and many Garands were issued with light colored wood stocks other than walnut. And please name me one company making the non-existent “reproductions” everyone is talking about. No such thing.

Scott, I have to say, I cringed a little and thought "No not the Garand!" and this pained me to watch a little, only because Garands are getting harder to come by now, and they're becoming more and more valuable. Oh well, one less in existence means mine just went up a few cents in value!

I hope that was a cheap repop it would only be worth about $1,200 however the original m1 garand is worth over 6,000 now. But if you do have an AW permit I would like to see you test the Browning BAR it also was chambered in 30-06. But original are repop that was a sad sight to see an m1 garand destroyed. That's the same weapon my father used in world war 2.

There were German soldiers interviewed after WW2 who said that being fired upon by the Garand was horrifying… soldiers using the Garand could blow through stone walls with sustained fire… cool!!!
I own a Benelli nova pump hunt geese/duck in all conditions. I also had an accident recently where I dislocated and broke a bone in my ankle, causing me to fall and roll. I had to fire my gun in the air to get the attention of my buddies. However, to think of it now, I never checked the barrel before the fire (was not thinking of that). I would love to see a torture/fail test in this gun.

As someone who has owned a m1 garand for over 20 years and was actually the first gun I ever bought, I have to say I have never seen one jam so many times. Lol. I think gun companies need to send you firearms to test out to see how prone they are to jamming. Because you sir, seem to have a special touch for jamming guns

I feel the same way. Mine has always run like a top. You do have to manhandle it a bit sometimes, but it's always been solid.

It isn’t as bad when it gets the base of the thumb, it is worse when it catches the tip of your thumb, because it can break your fingernail in half or tear off a bit of skin from the fingertip.
Mine was on the end, bled like a stuck pig and didn't lose the nail but had a bloody nail bed for a few months...The Garand demands blood!!!
