Hey can you help me i have a question? How do you remain vegan in the black community when we use traditional soul food for most get togethers and specials occasions? Also love your channel im trying to transition to vegan
Redmonroe5 Hey , you didn't ask me, but usually the person that makes the bulk of the meals, let them know, and they will prepare alternatives for you. My whole family eats soul food (& would drop a hamhock in some greens quick, lol) but it's very helpful when your family is semi-supportive- mine are always cracking jokes , lol. I sometimes bring my own food , too, they can be forgetful.
Shalaynia Hairston thank ypu so much your comment helps me because that is what im worried about the most cuz diet can interfere with you social life many ppl say its harder to eat at get togethers and stuff
I'm proud to say being type 1 diabetic and having stage 3 thyroid cancer, I recently turned into a vegan. I am on a mission to prove my doctors wrong and show them I can heal my body with food alone❤️ I'm happy I found this vegan community on YT for so much support ❤️❤️
I make overnight oats- put equal parts oats and vanilla almond milk. then I add a fruit and cinnamon or honestly whatever else. the best part is it requires no sweetener bc the almond milk and fruit are sweet enough for me
I also mash a ripe banana in a bowl with some oats, a fruit, and maple syrup and bake it. Omg it comes out so sweet and soft and tender. I can literally eat the whole tray in one sitting but that's sinful 😪
another oatmeal recipe is to make banana oatmeal cookies. mash a ripe banana uncooked oats and place it on a cookie sheet in circles like you are making cookies and bake it in the oven on 350° for about 5 -10 minutes.
When I was a vegan I pretty much ate the same things for the week too, so I completely understand where you are coming from. Here's some ideas that may be of some interest to you that I do sometimes that are inexpensive. For breakfast besides oatmeal try oatmeal pancakes using the oats, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking powder, pure vanilla, almond milk, (optional half of a banana). For lunch or dinner I used to make Bulgar wheat with slices of Avocado. Or Red quinoa with pieces of spinach in it and boil a side of yams or vegetable barley soup or whole wheat thin pasta with red, orange, yellow bell peppers, onions, fresh garlic (I added some coconut oil, thyme & garlic salt- made this yesterday with turkey meatballs). Also i used to eat vegan falafel in pita bread with lettuce, tomato, avocado slices, cucumber and you can add some tahini sauce and lastly veggie quesadillas (with vegan cheese). Hope these ideas are helpful!
Thanks so much for sharing the foods your purchase and your recipes. It's sooooo helpful to find Black women who practice a vegan diet for inspiration. I've never even heard of lentil loaf!
Back at it again!!!!! I love that you're willing to share with us that aren't in the know. I always learn something new from you!!!! God bless you, you, you are amazing!!!!!!
Love this video! I'm not vegan but I just recently found out I can't tolerate gluten and most dairy, I'll probably just go vegan eventually...I'm going to start a you tube channel soon to document and share my journey! Your videos are inspiring!
I love this videos. I always go back and forth with eating vegan for like a month and then falling off the wagon, but these videos help me get back on track and leave me inspired!
Yummy meal prep ideas! Something I do for breakfast. Over night oats in mason 8oz mason jars. Easy, fast, can prep for the week. I heat mine up in a bowl every morning in the winter months. Lots of ideas for this on Pinterest.
I don't eat vegan but I love watching these videos that you prepare. It's obvious you put a lot of work into creating your content. It is appreciated! 🙂
Please don't get offended I am obsessed watching your videos they are very inspiring. I have gotten so many tips on makeup, food, and styling from your channel. You seem so genuine and humble I truly enjoy your channel. I AM NAPPI2B!!!
Thank you so much for sharing your tips. I am in the process transitioning into a vegan lifestyle and didn't know what to do or buy besides veggies and fruit. The fact that at times I want hot meals and don't want to just eat soups help so much. I appreciate your gift and sharing it with us!!
We are Celebrating our 5yr Veganversary this Sept and this video has been so inspirational. So encouraging to see other meal plan options and have them opportunity to recharge my meal planning. Keep up the excellent work !!!!
This is truly an excellent video. I never even thought to form my lentil loaf into patties for veggie burgers! Genius. You could break it up on top of salad as well. Now, I'm over here trying to think of other ways my meals can be more versatile lol
Love your channel so much! These food ideas are my favorite because you make budgeting seem manageable and exciting. I'm putting myself on a challenge to start eating/grocery shopping on a budget next week!
I have started my journey vegetarian first and then vegan I realize I have so much more energy now it was something that I didn't think that I could do but after watching the video that's so many ideas from you and the weight loss is amazing too
So this year when i started my freshmen year of college i had to eat at the caf. and i would get food poisoning often so I started cooking in my dorm I noticed the vegan recipes were cheap and easy... you're recipes have been a life savers
I'm just beginning my journey of veganism so I've been looking for meal ideas & I am so so happy I found you! Love how you make eating healthy creative & interesting - can't wait to try out some of these recipes !! 😍
OMG FINALLY SOMEONE WHO EATS LIKE ME TOO!! I always thought I was an odd one out. Girl, I can eat the same thing everyday and not get tired of them. Vary them a little yes but I like having that structure as well. Makes buying groceries so much easier, makes sure I stay as close Dr. Greger's daily dozen and it keeps my grocery bill down to a minimum. I always have oatmeal for breakfast (I make mine with frozen strawberries, bananas, pb, sugar and cinnamon) although I use quick cooking oats because I'm a lazy ass. And then I prepare two big pots of mains I'll have for lunch and dinner one which I can eat with rice (I'm Asian and need rice), and the other one is just a versatile dish I can either have on rice or have pasta with or eat with bread. I found your lentil loaf and OMG that looks and sounds SOOO amazing I need to try that. It looks soooo super versatile and I mean who doesn't need ketchup in their life.
Saw this video and had previously been thinking about Vegan choices. You inspired me! I went to the store and picked up the exact same products (mostly organic) to try it out. So thank you😊
This was a really good video! I love how you gave a few options to create different things out of the same ingredients. This is what I need in my life! Also, how do you always know you're getting bread items without butter or milk in the ingredients?
Love your videos!! Love how detailed you are in them! And you’re so beautiful! I try to be vegan all the time but always give up because it’s so frustrating having to come up with vegan meal ideas. Idk why I barely thought about looking up vegan recipes on RUclips?! But glad I did because I came across your Chanel which is very motivational and now I’ll def try being vegan starting this week!
I have watched many videos of people eating vegan food & I’m sooooo glad I came across yours!! you are so creative with the cooking!! I’m hoping to catch on! 😊😊😊 thank you for sharing!
Heading to Walmart to have a vegan week ! Thank you so much for always providing crafty ways to eat /style yourself the healthy way ! It’s amazing I’m glad I subscribed ❤️You’re so dope and wise 🙏🏾❤️
I needed this so bad lol. I'm currently detoxing to restart my vegan/vegetarian lifestyle... I really want to be vegan but I'm addicted to queso cheese sauce 😭😩
Thank you for sharing love the ideas. I've a subscriber to your channel since 2015 when I transitioned from relaxed to natural hair. Keep it up videos are always classy and informative
Definitely going to try the lentil loaf. Yours is the first I've seen that looks really delicious. Also, do you prep the cranberries in any way, or can you eat them just raw on top? Also, as someone on a strict budget, I really appreciate these wallet friendly recipes. It's a great reminder that eating healthy doesn't have to cost a ton of money.
First of all I enjoy your videos! Your makeup and hair are always so beautiful...not to mention your outfits! I am enjoying your snaps as well! Thank you for great videos and great quality! Hello from Colorado!
Have you tried oatmeal jars. You prepare them at night . Quick Oats in the jar. Layered with your favorite fruits, cinnamon, pinch of honey. So delicious.
At first, I was looking at the soup and thinking "Man, that looks...gray... and...hmmmm..." then you showed the serving and I was suddenly very hungry. Also, I think you are absolutely beautiful and I love your personality. Very bubbly! I hope to try that lentil loaf sometime in the near future... My son "hates" veggies but has had no idea that a good half of his meals are vegan.
Girl you my hero if you eat raw cranberries. I love my oatmeal cooked with nut milk (cashew is the best) and dried fruit, honey(trivia nectar), cinnamon and bananas.
D.A. Ragland. OMG I was looking for someone who mentioned the cranberries and I was going to respond lol. I tried cranberries for the first time raw last month and it was the worst taste of my life. To me it taste like alcohol, vinegar, olives. Very bitter lmao. I loved them when mixed with a smoothie with a lot of different fruits. She is definitely a hero for eating those raw.
right!!! i love dried cranberries and i will use fresh cranberries to make cranberry sauce, but just to eat a raw cranberry...NOPE!!! no cranberries and no beets!!!!
I use organic apple juice, turmeric and cinnamon for my GF oats. Then top with more cinnamon and Earth Balance. You can also make a "shepards" pie with that loaf, corn green beans, and those potatoes. A dollop of cashew fream will take your black bean soup to another level. You are rocking your budget!
These food videos are giving me so much help. It's inspiring. I am vegetarian, newly. So I am having difficulty with meal ideas I like. My husband has so many allergies, lentils and nuts being one so I can't make your version of the loaf.
Thanks for the video . I loved how everything was economical. Do you cook vegan for your family as well? Was it hard for you to begin the vegan process ?
You inspire me to eat and try different things. I usually eat pretty much the same for breakfast. I had made the tofu scramble before and it was not so good but then I watch one of your videos and it was so good and I will try it again. Thanks!
Sooo I just tried roasting oats for the first time and I thought, hmmm lets put these in my french toast batter. OH MY GOODNESS!!! The most amazing crunch and sweet taste, with the added benefits of what id get with a regular bowl of oatmeal....but in french toast form! 😄 Thank you soo much for your creative meals! Im not vegan, but your creativity is definitely inspiring and has me thinking of othet fun and creative ways to shake up my regular meals :)
An inexpensive lunch meal I like to make is a Mediterranean veggie wrap. Flour tortilla, hummus, spinach, diced cucumbers, sliced carrots, feta cheese, black olives (optional) and a little Greek dressing or your choice dressing.
I love your channel. i havent eatten beef in almost a year so the lentil loaf will be a good substitute for burgers, spaghetti, sloppy joes, etc. I am also staying away from starchy foods too. instead of white potatoes/rice I eat sweet potatoes, brown rice, quinoa or shredded cauliflower. I have found my hot flashes have stopped and my sugar level has gone down and bad breath is less noticeable.
Hello!! Love your channel. I particularly like the Vegan and hair tutorials. I am a vegetarian over one year. Enjoying it and loved what it did to my figure, but I'm hungry for proteins all the time. Any suggestions on how to get the proper protein nutrients?
you are so amazing. I been watching you for a while now. thanks for sharing. I just subscribed after starting a Chanel of my own after finding out I'm pregnant. I will use some of your recipes and ideas. I'm sure me and my family will love. keep up the great work
You make me want to be come a Vegan! Awesome looking meal ideas. Thank you for sharing. If you like spice, try Jalapeño just remove the seeds if you don't want it too spicy.
How long do you bake the lentil loaf?
I don't really time it, I usually just go by how it looks. But I think around 30-40 mins at 375.
Hey can you help me i have a question? How do you remain vegan in the black community when we use traditional soul food for most get togethers and specials occasions? Also love your channel im trying to transition to vegan
