For those still getting a pink Jammo after "Render Pipeline > Universal Render Pipeline > Upgrade project materials to UniversalRP Materials", click on your materials folder that was imported, and for each of them, go to the top - Shader > Legacy Shaders > Bumped Diffuse. That will make it look like what Nicky has. Also, great series!
Was dreading animation for weeks and putting it off, expecting it all to go horribly wrong. Got my custom-made blender characters rigged and functional within an couple days thanks to this series. Unity should pay you for these, quality is insane.
Holy crap! This is the most comprehensive, easily digestible, clearly illustrated, and well explained tutorial I've seen in the world of Unity tutorials in a LONG time! Keep this up man! GREAT work! I LOVE the many chapter markers too!
oooooooff finally i understand all those settings! i've been using generic just because i didn't fully understand how the humanoid rig. welp now mixamo can save me some work.
Thanks so much for your amazing videos, mate! I just found your channel and I'm already planning to binge-watch all your stuff even if it's not necessary for my current project xD I love the way you cover things and the attention to detail in each video, stay cool! o/
Instant subscribe. I am a 3d newbie and I couldn't figure out how you would take animations from the asset store and use them now it makes so much more sense. Thanks!
This is probably the best tutorial (series) about Unity Animation system I've seen. Good job! Please keep making Unity tutorials, you have a great style of making videos!
Great tutorial for animations! But I have one doubt. Not about animations but about lights. What did you do at 6:08? Before character was looking so dull and after the change character become really good looking.
A very well explained video! I did not know it was possible to use 1 animation for several different rigs. I will definitely be using this in the future! Keep up the good work!
Just finished watching some of your animation videos. The presentation of information is very good and interesting. That was GREAT Thank you very much for these videos👍
I'm afraid to ask, but when I go into Edit, there isn't anything to do with render pipeline. Do I have to update my unity? I'm currently running 2020.1.15f1
Useful, subscribed and liked. Now watching all your videos. Your clear explanations are great and the pacing is good too. I've just started to explore animations and this, along with your new input videos have helped a lot. Well done sir 👍
Following these tutorials fixed a very strange bug i was having before. My animations worked in the editor, but didn't work on the build. No ide what I was doing different. but it's working fine now
Would love a tutorial on Overriding animations/bones, e.g having an character turn their head to look at the player while still playing a walk animation. I'm pretty sure it's something Unity can now handle without the need of 3rd party assets, but I still extremely new to Unity's animation system. However, your videos have made it FAR easier to digest!
I love the detail in these videos. I've watched this video 4 times now hoping to find the answer to why my animations aren't playing on my new character model. Alas, no solution yet. All I did was scale my player model in Blender to 0.8x, then reimported into Unity as a .fbx. I changed the animation type to "Humanoid" in the model import settings in Unity, and I configured the avatar so that all of the transforms were matched up correctly. Then, I went into my Scene hierarchy, and removed the full Root hierarchy from my Player object, as well as the object that holds the skinned mesh renderer. I then replaced it with the new resized versions. Everything looks great in the scene view before pressing play. But when I press play, none of the animations work. Interestingly, I CAN get the animations to work with the scaled-down model by selecting the old Avatar in the Animator. But this causes the character to look very distorted and mangled. With the new avatar from my scaled-down model that I imported from Blender, the model is stuck in the T-pose. For anyone who is miraculously still reading this long comment, do you have an idea of why my animations aren't working? I'm completely out of things to try to get my scaled-down player model to work properly. I wish there were a RUclips tutorial out there to accomplish this seemingly simple task.
TIPS: if you still suffer from weird animation. You can try to change somethings as below: in Rig tab, in Avatar Definition, choose "Copy from other Avatar" then you can choose an avatar downloaded from Mixamo. In Animation tab, scroll down to the bottom, in Motion,/Root motion node, choose "Root transform". It saved me from weird animation, hope it helps you too.
@@iHeartGameDev You should give a shot in Hyper Casual games with Voodoo or Lion Studios. I'm pretty sure you will/can make a great hit in mobile industry. BTW you can check out my games at "www.kitkatgames.com" . Please note: you can totally ignore this link. If you think i'm trying to market my games :)
Well done Nicky! Super useful in-depth video about humanoids.
