The Moment 20-Year-Old Realizes He Should've Told Police the Truth

- On September 12, 2022 in Florida, an officer ran a record check on a vehicle he observed bearing a temp tag. When the check revealed the driver did not have a Florida driver's license, the officer conducted a traffic stop. He notified the driver of the reason for the stop, and the man then presented the officer with what he claimed was his driver's license. This is body-cam footage of the events that followed.

That cop was incredible. Huge props to him for how he handled everything. He may have just altered the course of that kid's life by teaching him a valuable lesson the hard way while he's still young.

My kid used to be that way. It is an anti-authority thing in my view. I'm so glad that was a phase. Caught her sneaking in a boy, and she flat out lied about it, even though i saw it with my own eyes. She is 100% different as an adult. I am happy for her that she has grown into a respectful, responsible, well-adjusted, hard-working, kind adult. She even knows how to think critically and has common sense. Rare traits among her peers. I hope this boy wakes up and grows up, too.
I wouldn’t call her sneaking in a boy anti authority
I think you’re right. I was the same way. I can’t believe the blatant lies I told. To me, admitting I knew it was wrong was worse than being seen as stupid. And I turned out fine. I’m so thankful I grew out of that. Years later, towards the end of my army career, I was able to take one of those really expensive personality tests they give high ranking CEO’s before business mergers - for free. So I jumped at the chance. I was more than a little surprised that I had borderline anti-authority tendencies. Came as a surprise considering I had advanced very well in the army, but the more I thought about it the more it made sense. Somewhere along the way I learned to work within the constraints instead of fight against them. Sounds like your kid did too. Hopefully this kid in the video learns the same lesson.

Then the mom saying she doesn't know why he struggles with telling the truth and taking responsibility for his actions. Hopefully he straightens himself out before he has a huge rap sheet
It's crazy how far honesty can get you.
Once I let my drivers license expire, but it was a probationary license (in NJ you get a restricted "probationary" license at 17, then you're SUPPOSED to get your basic license at 18 that lifts the restrictions, I, stupidly did not) and as I was pulling into the DMV a cop pulls me over, incredibly irate.
His original plan was to not allow me to proceed into the DMV, to force me to a different parking lot, and get my car towed.
But since I had admitted off the cuff "Here's my license, it is both expired and probationary, I'm going to the DMV right now to renew it.", despite him clearly being quite annoyed, when I asked if I could still go to the DMV he reluctantly allowed me.
Now I am in the NJ surcharge system, so not only did I pay the ticket, but every year for 3 years I am required to pay an additional $100, this thankfully being the final year.
Cops, even the meaner ones, tend to be more patient with you when you cooperate. That's true for pretty much anyone in life. I'm sure if I tried to fight with or lie to him, my car would've been towed and I would've been in the back of his.
